Hello all - welcome to our February thread for 2018. Everyone is welcome and it's never too late to join in. We are decluttering our homes and keeping them clean and tidy(ish) as well as having some general chat as well.

We follow the Flylady method, and will post links daily to the missions via the Flylady website. For more information, have a look at www.flylady.net/

Here's to a fun February for all of us (with the occasional prod from the pointy stick of motivation and visits to the naughty corner Cake Brew Wine ) Grin

Hope foxes and afresh are still sleeping, and have done so all night!!

Sure busy day ahead-
After drop lil zoo at school off to prep food at community cafe for the annual meeting, pamper session and lunch for volunteers(I'm not going, don't really like recognition, and concept allowing someone else to pamper me is at this point more than a step too far!!plus not comfortable eating out of my four walls with people I don't feel super comfy around yes I know I'm weird )making shepherd's pie and a crumble that can just be lob in the oven tomorrow whilst they're having funSmile

Then it's dentist with dp-he has a lump in his gum that appeared after a tooth cracked.been on antibiotics a week and due back check up today.he knocked it at work last night when brush his teeth and is in agony(sigh) so glad he's being seen today

Ring optician later to check see if lil zoo glasses are ready

Some food shopping(no surprise there)and the usual try clear upkeep on top of laundry, medicating kitty etc.the fun and excitement never stops here!!

Right I must crack on!!

TTFN

foxessocks · 21/02/2018 07:34

Not too bad all things considered...he was up at 3.30 and his temperature was high again. Gave him calpol and a drink and he settled fairly quickly.

Unsurprisingly both dc still asleep now as both had bad nights. I've had a cup of coffee in peace! Am about to peep my head round at them make sure all ok then get in the shower hopefully.

My to do list was looking good after my anti procrastination week the other day but it seems to have grown again and is now bigger than before! Partly because a lot requires money which I have zilch of until next week.

Back to write a to do list later.

Ta da
Cancelled today's outing with friend as ds poorly Sad

Afreshcuppateaplease · 21/02/2018 07:37

Dc 2 3 and 4 fed
Listened to dd read

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/02/2018 08:04

I thought people might relate! We are all off today (DH too) so we are planning to go out for a walk but I MUST do some decluttering too. Also need to ring vets in half an hour when they open as we noticed last night that cat seems to have been over grooming again Sad. Will see what they say, just realised I could also post on here for advice so might do that later depending on what they say.

Good luck today with that list zoo. Cag,I agree with the others, I would ring about the jabs as it may we’ll be best to postpone them.

Must get up now as DD1 has just come in saying we have all had a lie in and must get up now! She wants to do play doh Confused.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 21/02/2018 08:18

Ta da

Wash on
Dryer on
All dc fed
Listened to dd read
Collected all washing from around house
Opened all curtains and blinds
Made my bed

'D'ps side of the bed is getting fucking ridiculous. Some washing is a week old, he also has snotty tissues, three glasses, an empty coke bottle and two empty beer bottles. Tramp.

Bowerbird5 · 21/02/2018 08:34

Yuk!

DH sleeps elsewhere I can recommend it. No more mess, snoring or farting and I get more than six inches of bed.

May as well get up they have just started digging up the road outside bedroom. Noisy. Why did they have to do this bit on my day off? I like to stay in till 9 just because I can and there is something better about knowing everyone is at school. Now they are on other road too by the sounds of it. Next doors live on the junction. Our roads are very quiet except school time. Might get up and make big mug of tea and watch the fun actually. Hadn't thought of that till now. Lots of entitled parents with no consideration bringing children to our lovely country school. This could be fun. No where to park here oh dear might have to park further up and have to walk 100 yes or more oh dear!
Normal traffic is " Oh there's Ann off out. Jane is with her, wonder where they're off to. "
Will report back if anything exciting. Shouting. Tantrums( from parents).

Afreshcuppateaplease · 21/02/2018 08:50

I may suggest the cellar

Cagliostro · 21/02/2018 11:34

ta da
✅booked appt for Cagletini :( she did have a slightly better night (still propped up on my shoulder, but slept longer) but she’s still hacking up crap and making horrible noises and it doesn’t seem to be improving at all :(
✅videoed her making weird trying-to-cough noises, they are very odd (not like whooping cough though I don’t think) and hard to describe so I filmed it in case she doesn’t do it in front of the doctor. Not sure if that makes me neurotic/over zealous or something but hey ho.
✅put a wash on
✅DH did maths and spellings with the Caglets and I got them doing some workbook stuff too. This time they had to do it without my help, trying to get them more independent. Maybe this will also help in the long run trying to get more organised etc if I can set them more work?!

Decided last night that one thing I could do to fit more HE in is to encourage computer/app based stuff in the evenings rather than during the day. Saving the daytime when they are a bit more awake for the book/paper based stuff. Worth a try anyway. I’m quite pleased with their progress lately, things really seem to be turning around. Must set them more work soon - DH is downstairs with all 3 while I chill, but he’s not used to making them do more work yet :o

So grumpy and tired, think PMT may be a factor Hmm

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/02/2018 11:35

Ta da:-
Phoned vets and have appointment for tomorrow, cat may need more steroid tablets and a plan to try to manage her stress Sad Confused. So that’s tomorrow planned then, DD1 has a Brownies day so will have to take her there then go straight to vets with cat and DD2. With the stress of getting cat in carrier. Ugh.
Tidied downstairs
DD1 did some hideous play doh ‘doh Vinci’ thing which at least means some of that is decluttered.

Some laundry in but lots more to do.

To do:-
We are off out now for a walk at a country park thing where there is a fairy trail thing as DH is off today so we are having some family fun Confused and have said the girls can get lunch at the cafe there.

What do you all do with half finished kids’ craft projects? They remember stuff I throw out but at the same time just have so much colouring, craft, sewing type crap. Do you set a time limit?

I am currently trying a tip I read on here and on Flylady website to imagine I am moving house and if I wouldn’t bother to pack it then declutter it. Unfortunately the answer from the kids to the ‘would I pack it’ question is always yes Hmm.

That’s annoying re holiday costs foxes. Impressed you have managed trip to park already today Afresh. Thanks for links Cotswold. Absolutely keep us informed of any tantrums please Bower! Big wing flaps to everyone else.

House remains in half term chaos Confused.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 21/02/2018 11:36

Xpost Cag, sorry to hear Cagletini not well. Definitely agree with videoing her, good idea.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 21/02/2018 11:40

Good idea on the video cag i have actually heard of gps requesting people do this at times

Park trip resulted in muddy clothes all around and i have just discovered my new coat is dry clean only Angry I am going to be brave, put it on a delicate wash and not wear to the park in future!

Callmecordelia · 21/02/2018 11:59

I have a ta dah!

We are getting quotes to get rid of the useless conservatory at the moment and DH has been wibbling about loss of storage.

Today he slightly pissed me off, so I did what I've always wanted to do that he's always said was a bad idea - I took the storage shelves out of the conservatory and put them in the understairs cupboard and moved loads of stuff out of the kitchen into it. My magimix (and it's attachments), slow cooker, all the cake decorating stuff, spices I don't use much have all gone. I've rescued the nice Joseph Joseph bread bin from out there, and evicted all his the wine and coffee stuff to another box which fits in the cupboard. In a bonus move I didn't expect, the under used trofast boxes that were on the shelves fit really well in the kitchen cupboards, so they are all organised really well now.

I have loads more counter space and the kitchen looks lighter. It's bloody brilliant and I can't wait until he gets home late yet again.

foxessocks · 21/02/2018 13:29

I'm pretty ruthless with art and craft stuff. Some goes straight in the bin. Some goes on the fridge for a while then in the bin. Some goes on the fridge then I keep it in my under bed storage box with photos etc. I keep "key" pieces like the first time she drew a person, first time she drew the whole family, first time she added details like sun and sky...BUT dd is only just about to turn 4 so my method may not continue to work!!! She doesn't notice binned stuff yet!

Ta das
Daily routine done
Lunch for dc made and tidied
Ds asleep

Still got lots to do but having a break while ds sleeping. Dd is drawing pictures in front of Thomas the tank engine so shes happy. Might start looking at that holiday stuff.

FoolandFitz · 21/02/2018 13:31

Dropping in quickly for my ta-das so far

Ta-da
Managed to get out of bed (ugh!)
Made pancakes for DS even though half way through I realised we had run out of eggs
Cleaned microwave inside and out - it's all rusted inside: should I be worried?
Lunch for DS
Helped DS with his new Lego build that he was supposed to have for his birthday but DP is a soft touch grrr as he failed to follow instructions and had a meltdown
2 loads washed and hanging
Bedroom is beautiful on the outside (just don't look inside half a cupboard)

FoolandFitz · 21/02/2018 13:32

Oh well done, Cordelia. Star

Afreshcuppateaplease · 21/02/2018 13:45

I keep craft stuff for so long and if not asked for i bin it. Outside bin though as dd will reclaim from indoor bin

foxessocks · 21/02/2018 14:10

Yes I have that problem afresh both my dc take things out of the bin if they don't feel it should be there! A load of broken pens she took out the other day Hmm

Tada
Holiday research but still none the wiser really. Need to speak to dh when he gets home.

Ds is up but still very tired he hasn't moved off my lap. So can't do much!

To do
Bedroom declutter
Nail oil stuff
Bathroom
Cakes
Upstairs bins

Afreshcuppateaplease · 21/02/2018 14:25

My ds doesnt take things out of the bin yet but will put things in the bin. Usually important things. Its like a giant shape sorter to him!

foxessocks · 21/02/2018 15:40

So true afresh my ds puts whole pieces of fruit in the bin and then takes them out again yuck!

Ta da
Wiped window frames, cleaned Windows, wiped photo frames, polished mirrors, wiped radiator , folded laundry - all in bedroom
Did nail oil
Made chocolate cornflake cakes
Cleaned bathroom
Cleaned my muddy shoes
Emptied upstairs bins

To do
Cook dinner (chickpea and veg tagine with couscous) early and get kids to bed early as both didn't sleep well last night. It's dd 4th birthday tomorrow so she could do with a good nights sleep but she is a tad excited!
