Hello all - welcome to our February thread for 2018. Everyone is welcome and it's never too late to join in. We are decluttering our homes and keeping them clean and tidy(ish) as well as having some general chat as well.

We follow the Flylady method, and will post links daily to the missions via the Flylady website. For more information, have a look at www.flylady.net/

Here's to a fun February for all of us (with the occasional prod from the pointy stick of motivation and visits to the naughty corner Cake Brew Wine ) Grin

Aw thanks hills 💐 and everyone here for the frequent reassurance and loveliness. I know I have been quite errrm needy of late.

ta da
✅lovely visit from friend, then play date in the afternoon
✅made myself an awesome healthy lunch. Mackerel. Yum. I usually end up eating rubbish. So it was good to take the time to do it.
✅placed 4 different online orders, to complete everything we need for Cagletini in the next size and a couple of things for me/DS. Still need to properly go through the hand me downs I was sent but I got a good idea of what is there when I first looked.

Not done any of the planning stuff I was supposed to, and the living room is a total pit. Le sigh. Also relative asked to meet today despite having said yesterday that they couldn’t so we made other plans. So I then felt guilty saying no. Luckily DH gave me a stern talking to about the guilt and not trying to be all things to all people. As it is, we are babysitting tomorrow (not a problem it’s for something very important, and DH is here anyway). Busy few days ahead. FMFFFFFL.

And now my throat is bugging me. That’s a good reason for ice cream though right?

foxessocks · 14/02/2018 07:32

Morning all - hope your throat is ok cag no early risers on here this morning?!

I slept so badly. Kept coughing. Ds was up as well don't think he felt we'll just crying a lot. He had calpol which helped.

Got to get going to swimming lessons this morning. Not feeling like moving at the moment!

Cagliostro · 14/02/2018 07:57

Am awake with an itchy horrible throat again. Ug. Hopefully won’t develop into anything. I’ll be gargling Corsodyl later though.

Cagletini slept nearly seven hours straight, her longest ever!

We’ve not bothered with valentines this year, normally it’s just an excuse for a nice dinner and spoiling each other but it’s not going to be a romantic day what with babysitting and visitors. It’s probably more important than usual to try and make time for each other this year but we are perma-knackered ATM and it’s not a priority. Maybe we will get some time this evening. Hmm

Last night I did get a wash on, and made dinner for DH when he got in at 11 while he cleared up.

Right, really need to get up now. Must put another wash on and stuff. Blaaaaah.

HillsBesideTheSea · 14/02/2018 08:22

Be the queen cag declare it allowed to have a 2nd valentines day and just move the celebration to a day when it makes sense. We do that for christmas when it is not my turn to have ds for christmas. It is what happens on the day that matters not the day itself iyswim. It is often much less stressful as there is no pressure for it to be perfect from social expectation.

I slept like proper slept last night. need some more nights like that but feeling more human although if i don't shift my butt I am going to be late for work

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/02/2018 09:00

DP has rocked up with new slippers, very potent smelling bath melts and a card
He doesn't normally do valentine's.nit sure if he's up to something or genuinely feel bit guilty for being an arse suspicious bitch

Booked app at vets for one our kits.poor thing has had cat flu issues since we had her and has had two bouts of claw at her face like can't breathe☹️.going friday

Callmecordelia · 14/02/2018 09:00

We've moved our dine in for £20 to tomorrow so DH can go to the gym. Oh the romance....

Half term is knackering all flying attempts. I have baby wiped the worst off the kitchen as we have guests for lunch and an activity this morning.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 14/02/2018 10:26

Morning all

We arent bothering with valentines day. Oh has declared it all a con. Whatever.

Ta da

School run and all that crap
Been to shops
Washer on
Dryer on

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 14/02/2018 11:26

Hello all. Valentine’s Day a bit of a wash out here as well. We did do cards but had been planning to go out for lunch together (childfree day off together coincidentally on Valentine’s Day). However, I still have a cold and feel rubbish, DH says to keep a safe distance in case I infect him Envy, so we had a quick coffee after the school run instead.

We’ve decided to just have a productive day off and go out some other time. So he has gone for a run and going to do supermarket shop. I’m doing home bleugh. And they say romance is dead Grin.

foxessocks · 14/02/2018 13:03

Well I did get a box of chocolates and a bottle of Prosecco so I'm very happy, we don't go mad for Valentine's Day anyway. Just cards and a small gift. DH has got maltesers so he is happy too! We are off to the garden centre with the kids later so very romantic here too (not!). Looking at gravel!

Ta das

Decluttering highlight of the day - found a small card from my late grandad after we were burgled (we were quite young first time living on our own) - he had obviously enclosed a cheque and had said "I want you to buy the best security system this money can buy, a line straight to the police if possible! I want you to feel secure" this was typical of him 1) generous, 2) completely panicking! Love the line straight to the police, bless him.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 14/02/2018 14:03

Bless him foxes he sounds lovely

Afreshcuppateaplease · 14/02/2018 16:08

Quiet on here today!

foxessocks · 14/02/2018 17:06

it isn't quiet isn't it afresh everyone off enjoying valentines day maybe! What does that say about me I've been on here same as usual!!

We've just got back from the garden centre, it was total waste of time, didn't have what we wanted but we had a coffee while we were there (while the kids argued over a squeezy jelly don't ask Hmm)

ta das
ordered photos for the frame (wanted to get the photobook done as well but they take SO long we only had time for the prints - at least something is done!)
cleaned the towel rail in the bathroom
swish and swipe bathroom
finished daily routine
dinner is on (coq au vin)

not quite as productive a day as I had hoped but I had a bit of an energy slump this afternoon after a really bad night's sleep last night, I feel completely drained.

foxessocks · 14/02/2018 17:07

I mean it IS quiet obviously sorry!

HillsBesideTheSea · 14/02/2018 17:16

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 14/02/2018 20:16

foxes, your post made me Grin.

Sorry to hear about zoolets’ dental issues zoo.

We had an unromantic but productive day in the end. Home bleugh done and DH did food shop and picked up some needed DIY stuff and did a couple of jobs. Finished odd with a nice meal at home all together and now doing bedtime. I am tired and still full of cold so will shortly be retiring to the naughty corner. I can offer some prosecco which I’m sure is better than cold and flu remedy Grin.

Wh0KnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 14/02/2018 23:16

Very little Flying to report here (again) but I'm off work for two days now so maybe I will catch up. On the other hand I do have some work to do at home, masses of admin (including SEN stuff, I am not a happy bunny with my local authority at the moment) and DCs to ferry around between friends, swimming etc.

Cag - I kind of identify with you and the running around to activities but not keeping up with the housework bit. I run myself ragged getting the DCs to their sports etc (and myself too) and then stress because I feel burned out mentally trying to keep up with it all, it's not just the turning up it's the kit, the emails to reply to the fees, the instructions to bring something one week, meet somewhere else another. Sometimes I just need to cut a bit of slack and let one of them miss something, I find this hard and have always encouraged them to go unless properly ill, but sometimes lately I have decided to just say no, we stay in tonight, and it doesn't make the slightest bit of difference missing one week (except maybe ahead of dance exam or similar) and a night off helps me mentally no end.

Foxes andAfresh - yes to photobook stress. I kept up photo albums till the DCs were about 2 and 4 (they are 12 and 14 now) and then it all got a bit out of hand with thousands of photos and not knowing how to get them sorted as just too many. I am now systematically working backwards to try and close the gap, one year at a time (currently on 2015 so early days). I know some have got lost from the computer from about 2011-13 which is annoying but I'm determined to get caught up and make backups of the good ones too. We do have backups but again so many thousands of photos it's hard to to anything with them all. I am also trying to go through new ones every month and pick out the good ones and send straight into Photobox for a book for this year.

Zoo - I am practising mindfullness for Lent, also watching TV without checking my phone every 5 minutes and leaving my phone downstairs at night. Also eating 5 a day

CotswoldStrife · 15/02/2018 00:02

No flying today although I am feeling better (enough to MN, obviously!) so hoping to be back to what passes for normal for me tomorrow.

DD is already in our bed as she is still feeling ill! Probably a good idea if the two of us stick together and DH stays away from the germs!

Will post the links and be back tomorrow.
