Hello all - welcome to our February thread for 2018. Everyone is welcome and it's never too late to join in. We are decluttering our homes and keeping them clean and tidy(ish) as well as having some general chat as well.

We follow the Flylady method, and will post links daily to the missions via the Flylady website. For more information, have a look at www.flylady.net/

Here's to a fun February for all of us (with the occasional prod from the pointy stick of motivation and visits to the naughty corner Cake Brew Wine ) Grin

Poor DD cotswold :(

ta da
✅made it to TKD thus increasing our streak of full attendance at everything... when they said they weren’t fussed about going I could easily have thought YAY we can stay home, but I didn’t. DD did especially well in sparring so extra glad we went.
✅online shopping stuff although not finished yet
✅did Tesco order and remembered to write down offer info to make the shopandscan thing easier when it arrives
✅top up shop, this was super stressful as I just couldn’t face leaving the house, couldn’t even get on the bus as there was “no room” (there absolutely was, I will happily accept when there’s no space but they are very roomy buses (4 buggies easily, up to 6), nobody would even have needed to fold one, but I know this particular bus driver is a grumpy git anyway so didn’t bother to argue. That said as a passenger myself I would always immediately move my buggy round and say there was plenty of space. Hey ho. Hmm Anyway we walked to a different bus stop and got more time with DH before work so that was nice.

I don’t know why I was such a mess this morning. All day TBH. Haven’t done anything in the house at all, it’s a complete state and it’s making me panicky. I keep telling myself I’m doing well considering everything (I do know that’s true, and stuff like the clubs we go to are proof) it doesn’t really make me feel any better.

OH has gone work. Didnt even bother to say bye. Cba.

Ds3 and dd watching milkshake. I hiding with the kettle. Brew

Hope your dd ok this morning cw

cag well done for getting out, we have opposite issue with buses here - they let too many prams on and then you cant get off. Ditto trains with pram and bike combo. I have publicly lost my shit over this multiple times. I even had it out with Northern Rail over the train situation only to be told there arent any rules its at conductors discretion

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/02/2018 08:59

Ds has gone to school having had a shower, but late as usual. He is a proper pain in the ass. I now need to get myself out the door. All I can say is I. Don't. Want. To.

I am staying out of the partner conversations as I have a very tainted view which will bias my opinion which means it could be less then helpful or supportive. I am reading and I do hope your situation improves but don't hate me if I keep my mouth shut Blush

cag does mess and disorganisation in general make you feel more stressed? I will explain my thinking later but I have a hunch that needs more evidence before I want to offer it as an opinion.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 13/02/2018 09:20

Lesson of the day. Do not allow 1 year old to play with debit card.

Steamcloud · 13/02/2018 11:46

Hello, just had most fabulous weekend ever with close family, only marred by one dizzy attack on my part, but much better today thank heavens!

Just popping in to say "courage" (in strong French accent) and to post these flowers to Cotswold and to her dd, and to Afresh and Cag , and to anyone going through hard times, and to all fledglings, to show that spring is not far away!! xxx

Ha ha!you wouldn't think so if you are looking out my window. I put off getting logs in earlier brr cold very silly of me.
Suddenly started snowing just a few flakes. Went to get coat and hat and gloves which I had left upstairs whoa came down in minutes and garden was nearly covered. Needless to say I hot footed it out, filled the wheelbarrow and fetched it next to the house. I have loaded up the log basket and left the rest near the house covered with a tarp.
Don't think I will be driving in that after my hairy experience on Sunday. My main exit is closed for a week. The rest are all hilly and usually slippy. Think I will be resorting to salmon( tinned) fish cakes for tea. I have soup for lunch and a crumble for either.
Been fairly productive this morning slowly but surely clearing the clutter and cleaning. Found some more glasses so washed, dried and rearranged. Decided to clean all the dresser and it looks lovely now. All sparkly clean plates( Country Diary) and Beatrix Potter and other gifts Nick nacks mainly from kids.

So have completed dresser, lots of washing and polishing.
Logs in, fire lit.
Bed made and some of room tidied.
Washing on. Sheets.
Started cleaning out a cupboard. Will do half today half tomorrow.
Washing on Lakeland drier.
Need to : dust shelves in bathroom
Vacuum stairs and sitting room
Sort some magazines

Bowerbird5 · 13/02/2018 12:40

Oh on the subject of trains and buses. We have one mini bus (voluntary drivers )once a week into town and back out 3 1/2 hrs later.

We have a station but the trains haven't stopped here for a long, long time. Hear them going through and see them on the long bend the best bit is we sometimes have steam trains😄 in the summer.

How things ease in the family homes today. All quiet here as DH is away.

CotswoldStrife · 13/02/2018 12:49

Gorgeous flowers, we have one small clump out in the garden atm and I am watching for more. DH has just gone out to buy pansies or similar to brighten up the front a bit.

I am still feeling rough, DD is not great but way better than last night. She wants pancakes, anyway, so can't be feeling that bad!

Will post the links, again sorry for the delay!

Sorry I haven't been around I haven't had the time as so much crap been happening at home. I hope you are all doing ok and Flying well. Hope everyone that is feeling rotton feels better soon and Afresh I hope your DP starts to behave better as beign a manchild is really frustrating and stressful. Had same issues with DH recently and told him might sound like small things but it adds up and makes life difficult.

foxessocks · 13/02/2018 16:20

I have sent a reply back to sofa company asking them if they have any advice on getting the stains out then since they are saying they are caused by "human error" despite us following the instructions on their cleaning kit to the letter!! It is obvious now I've googled it more than the marks are water marks and that the sofa shouldn't be cleaned with anything wet...but the instructions say use damp cloth. Humph.

Anyway. I've ordered two pretty throws so hopefully that will cheer me up!

Cagliostro · 13/02/2018 18:27

I think it does yes hills and I am so overwhelmed by it that I don’t know where to start. Well I say that, we are certainly a lot better than we were a few years ago, but generally it makes life so much harder, especially since getting fibro. I think I’m in a place now where once it’s tidy I’ll be able to keep it that way, but getting there is really a huge mountain to climb.

I grew up with hoarder parents in an awful house (not just messy like ours - it was much bigger - but mice etc, stuff in disrepair like I had a broken window in my room for a couple of years) so didn’t have the best example. Flylady is definitely helping but it’s hard to do the decluttering bit with sod all energy and time. But then I get frustrated with myself as I think if I wasn’t so useless I’d be able to manage my time and energy better. Reading about executive function issues and “autistic inertia” after my diagnosis was a huge revelation, but knowing why I struggle doesn’t really help in a practical sense.

Disorganisation generally, yes that also stresses me because I feel like a failure if I get stuff wrong. I am definitely better with that stuff - the envy of some friends as I’m actually doing pretty well with things like getting to clubs, I’m rarely late for example. But there’s a lot of stuff I don’t get done. I need to get better at all this for the sake of the Caglets.

Sorry that was quite a long bit of waffle when a simple “yes” may have sufficed 😳

foxessocks · 13/02/2018 19:35

cag getting to all those clubs without a car definitely requires a huge amountof organisation. I do drive and often struggle getting places on time with the kids! It's hard! You are doing so well for your dc honestly don't be hard on yourself.

Ta das
Food shopping delivery put away
Dinner and pancakes eaten!
Tidied up after dinner

Flop.

Pancake count - DD 10, me 1

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/02/2018 21:45

Actually cag that waffle helped to confirm my suspicious. I will check something and then pm you (likely to be thursday) but let me put it this way I have "seen" this before and I totally get where you are coming from. And for now don't beat yourself up and try to not be too perfectionist about life. It is ok not to be perfect. You're doing great!
