Hello all - welcome to our February thread for 2018. Everyone is welcome and it's never too late to join in. We are decluttering our homes and keeping them clean and tidy(ish) as well as having some general chat as well.

We follow the Flylady method, and will post links daily to the missions via the Flylady website. For more information, have a look at www.flylady.net/

Here's to a fun February for all of us (with the occasional prod from the pointy stick of motivation and visits to the naughty corner Cake Brew Wine ) Grin

Sorry you had such a disappointing day due to the weather Bower

Bowerbird5 · 11/02/2018 17:15

Thanks.
Our conductor is texting me now. They sang well. Not having a very good time at the moment, feeling fed up. At least car isn't damaged although friend drove it over rock so better get someone to check that before DH comes home. Will get it washed as well. It has mud all over it right up to splattered windows.

Just doing bare minimum today as Sunday. Put twof loss of washing on and vacuumed. Going to have my sandwiches for tea. Might make apple crumble. Still cold. On sofa with a blankie. Logs and coal all in for night. Kitchen lovely and clean except hot spot...table. See you are all flying well.

CotswoldStrife · 11/02/2018 17:57

Afternoon all. zoo has found our new motto!

zoo you're not whiny, I'd be worried too.

Hills hope you found the painkillers when you needed to, hook the pattern out with a clothes hanger! We are also watching obscure sports the Olympics.
Bower a good night of sleep can improve things tremendously but what a shame about the comp!
fresh snow, we only had a short burst of hailstones!
Cag I have to write everything down and have often though I should plan my day by the half hour slot. At work I had to fill in a timesheet before a course and it was an eye-opener as to how my day was actually spent!
foxes thanks for the Brew, did DP start moving? Mine has does his own hobby thing pretty much all day too Hmm

Done some washing up, administered lots of calpol and tissues, just need to cook the veg for tea now (chicken roasting in the oven) Will crack on and be back later.

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/02/2018 18:09

We have enough snow that there is a possibility if it continues to get snowed in tomo. Ds, having school for another week, is of course hoping that happens HmmGrin

Cake made and ready to be iced when tea has been eaten. That is as far as I have got other than to put the bread machine on for making something for lunch tomo. that'll be the easy bits of the to do list then

foxessocks · 11/02/2018 18:27

cotswold think you got me mixed up with another (unless I've been moaning about dh without even realising!) Haha. Tbf dh has spent the whole afternoon gardening and has now done his back in Sad

Dd is administering first aid which is cracking me up. She is wearing her swimming goggles apparently they are doctor goggles so she can see inside you!

Tada
Dinner cooked
Dh made cookies for pudding
Front garden all cleared pretty much
Swish and swipe bathroom
Daily routine
Added more to shopping list Hmm
Kitchen and dining table tidied after dinner
Pilates DVD

To do
Flop in front of tv once dc are in bed. They are bouncing off the walls though!

Sorry about your day bower Sad

Cagliostro · 11/02/2018 18:38

I call it cleaning but it reality it's picking up random bits of crap after partner/husband/kids whilst muttering "inconsiderate aresholes" under my breath

:o For me it’s more like ‘picking up random bits of crap whilst muttering “why the fuck didn’t I put this away in the first place”’ 😳

Sorry about the disappointment bower :(

Visit was quite nice really, I feel a bit less worried on my own behalf I think, but it’s all a bit complicated and only time will tell. Families eh?!

It would be an interesting exercise to write down some kind of timetable for a full day. Although there’s the danger I’ll just freak out at the fact I can never possibly do it all. But I should be able to I think, other people seem to. I’m just so slow at everything.

Officially half term now I suppose although for once I started new spellings on Friday (test day on Thursday and I normally don’t get round to finding new ones until Monday) - I think we will still have the week off from work stuff though. I don’t feel like we have any extra time really - babysitting Wednesday, seeing mum and dad Thursday and Friday (must plan that journey/pack suitcase etc).

Lazy dinner in the oven for me and DS. DD is at the neighbour’s. I have a date with Ben and Jerry later.

Bowerbird5 · 11/02/2018 19:00

Still have those spellings Cags

Thanks for your sympathy everyone.
Watched Sleepless in Seattle. I haven't ever seen that film. Can you believe that?
I am still cold. My skin is cold. Fire been on all day.
I ate my sandwich and am now drinking the Prosecco might go and get my PJs on and my cosy, cosy dressing gown. Announcements for winners will be in five minutes if following last years. Feel slightly better.

Whenever I plan my day it goes arse over tit.

Bowerbird5 · 11/02/2018 19:15

Warm at last fleece PJs, socks , Uggs, fleecy M&S dressing gown with hood. Skin was really cold in parts. Hope I haven't got a chill.
Mini bottle holds decent amount. Lovely Prosecco M&S.

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/02/2018 19:27

foxes arf at doctor goggles.despite all the whining, lack sleep and stress there are some amazing moments be a parent, and some super funnies . I got asked today if I'd rather inhale a koala or exhale a kangaroo?!ConfusedI said kangaroo and hope it's a tiny jelly bean sized rooGrin
Who would've thought before I had kids this would be something I'd need to ponder?!

CotswoldStrife · 11/02/2018 22:55

Love the x-ray goggles foxes, sorry I got you confused with fresh there (and that was before Wine )

zoo that's a classic!

I don't mean too rigid a timetable Cag, more a framework for the day. When I had to record what I did for a few days I was surprised. I'd have said I worked evenly throughout the day but what happened was that as people rang with queries during the morning, I produced less work (as in letters and reports) in the afternoon because I spent more time chasing other people for answers. It taught me never to put off doing something until the afternoon as I may not get a chance to get round to it yet this still happens

I need to set the links up for next week and then post them. Will be back later!

That’s really interesting cotswold thanks. I’m wary of trying to schedule in everything and then failing. But so much needs doing and nothing is automatic - even stuff like basic self care, I need to force myself IYSWIM. It’s no wonder I’m so tired really 🤔 as so much mental energy goes on the basics.

Feeling slightly happier after today, nice chat with DH after work too. Didn’t renew my spirit really though.

Will PM you bower I wasn’t sure if it’d be rude to bug you when you’re so poorly 💐

ta da
✅drying
✅Caglets put clothes away
✅quick dash round tidying
✅washing up

Stilllivinginazoo · 12/02/2018 04:23

cag totally get where you are coming from with forcing self to even do basic self care.it is an effort if you can't click it as a habit but part of saying I'm worth the effort makes it very important for self worth/esteem

I can't sleep.....

Did do cupboard understairs yesterday
I like bathroom zone.ibly room in my home not cluttered and therefore able completely zap thru deep clean in one session unlike rest of house

Might give up and get up soon
Dd1 visiting today at ,9 and dd2 off on a youth church leadership meet as half term here.was super excited yesterday as she shadows a server at church and they let her ring bells and pour wine yesterday😀today she's off doing worship, fun and mix other like minds from our diocese and they being taken trampoline park as part of the day so at least she will be tired later!!

Bowerbird5 · 12/02/2018 04:48

Got up to loo and was thirsty so made a cup of tea and while waiting put away stuff on drainer. Then discovered it was only 4:15am. That's what I get for going to bed at 9:15pm!

zoo Definitely exhale the roo as koalas are too fluffy!
Cags thank you for being so considerate. I am trying to declutter school stuff. Now Ofsted have been I can bin all last years books and paperwork. I haven't enough room at school or home for all that stuff.
I like the bathroom too. I only have one. I need to wipe down shelves with pictures and Nick nacks otherwise it is pretty clean all the time. Floor could do with a wash.
Going to finish kitchen
Plan for today
Home Bleugh
Kitchen table.
Dining room table- put away Christmas crockery. Been waiting for DS2 to bring it back from his house. Give up.
Washing, two loads.
Ironing, huge pile. Will watch a good film.
Change bed and tidy room.
Dust sewing table.

It has snowed so I won't be going out in the car. Gave myself enough of a fright yesterday.

Bowerbird5 · 12/02/2018 04:50

👋 to
Zoo who is also up at this mad hour!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 12/02/2018 07:04

Morning all, have a cold and sore throat so not in the best mood! It’s not too bad at all, just not a good start to the week. Flowerszoo, that all sounds very stressful.

Thanks for links Cotswold, and that actually is a good idea to write down what I do to see how to manage time better. Will do that when I am feeling better.

zoo and Cag, I’ve said it before on here but there are some apps that are really good for writing down a routines and then not having to think about them. I know Flylady has an app which I have never got the hang of it. I use the home routines app when I can be bothered; you can even put things like ‘get up’ on there and it is super easy to alter. Of course laminated sheets work too.

HillsBesideTheSea · 12/02/2018 07:09

We have snow too bower and it looks icy underneath so that is going to be fun getting to work. I am considering leaving the car and getting the train. WOuld have to be way more organised though as there is only 1 an hour and I have no idea when that 1 goes. Hmm

Ds is very hopeful for a snow day but I don't think he is going to get it. Poor planning on his part and me not nagging means he hasn't done a major piece of homework. Hmm He was late to bed too so no chance of getting it done this morning.

foxessocks · 12/02/2018 07:34

I don't like the bathroom. Not because its particularly cluttered but because its small and really old and whatever I do it won't look good! I'd love a new bathroom.

Need to get up dd waiting for her breakfast and if I'm quick I can have a shower before ds stirs.

Think I need another anti procrastination week as my motivation hasn't been as good of late.

Take care out there everyone!

foxessocks · 12/02/2018 08:25

Ta da
Breakfast
Shower

To do
Get dd swim stuff ready
Daily routine
Shower curtain
15 min bathroom
Home bleugh
Few bits from shops
Something anti procrastination

Bowerbird5 · 12/02/2018 08:55

I went back to bed with tea and went back to sleep just woke up. Lucky I am on half term☺️

Just having a Teasmade Ginger then up and at it.

foxes my bathroom is tiny. It was pinched off a bedroom before we bought it and had no inside toilet just basin and big Victorian bath. I wanted to keep the bath but we couldn't have both. We have a large walk in shower under the window( which looks onto the Pennines) we had a bath there and the room is the exact width of a bath length. Then basin and next toilet. Just enough room for thin shelves in the alcove and a laundry box which houses toiletries, next to toilet. Then the door and a radiator and towel rail on adjacent wall. It is a squeeze if two people go in and you literally could not swing a cat!

Looking forward to being home all day and feeling rested so hopefully a productive day. I have a journal which I lost before Christmas because I didnt put it away. I also have a weekly magnetic calendar on the side of the fridge where I can write my plan. It is very useful as I put which days are Home Bleugh and fit everything around busy days at work and my days off.

Bowerbird5 · 12/02/2018 08:56

Take care Hills and anyone else driving on icy and snowy roads.

Callmecordelia · 12/02/2018 09:08

Thanks Bower - half term continuing here with a trip to see my sister. Lots of motorways and M25 unavoidable. I am pleased you are feeling rested - don't put that recovery back by overdoing it though. Flowers

Bowerbird5 · 12/02/2018 09:38

No I'm going to pace myself.
If I don't get it all done it doesn't matter I have tomorrow. Trying to persuade DP that we might have a few days away in the Lakes. A friend has family with B&B near Coniston it looks gorgeous.
