Hello all - welcome to our February thread for 2018. Everyone is welcome and it's never too late to join in. We are decluttering our homes and keeping them clean and tidy(ish) as well as having some general chat as well.

We follow the Flylady method, and will post links daily to the missions via the Flylady website. For more information, have a look at www.flylady.net/

Here's to a fun February for all of us (with the occasional prod from the pointy stick of motivation and visits to the naughty corner Cake Brew Wine ) Grin

My dough still isn't firm....
Have decided makes ginger cupcakes whilst I waiting(and therefore chocolate custard will occur)

Afreshcuppateaplease · 08/02/2018 16:34

Dont like ginger Sad

CotswoldStrife · 08/02/2018 16:36

SC hope the appointment went well. Reading about decluttering is so much better than actually doing it, IMO.

Custard. Proper runny custard not set custard tarts. What can I do tonight that requires custard on a minimum of milk?!

I was actually just popping back on to share an article about getting started on tasks. See how easy it is for me to get distracted ....

I'd make chocolate specially for you afreshWink

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/02/2018 17:07

Lil zoo is the resident ginger fiend.think based on fact most ginger biscuits lack dairy do she's eaten hell of a lot of ginger as they are our default biscuits if I cba read back packets!!Grin
Spuds are peeled.kale chopped ready for making dinner
Cotswold I'd make crumble and custard because I really really fancy that but am outvoted in favour of ginger cake and chocolate custard

Bowerbird5 · 08/02/2018 17:38

Those ginger cakes were lovely. I ate them all😚 I did offer them to others, honest. They keep quite well I had about two a day. Thanks zoo. I think we should start a cooking thread of recipes😄 I had started two barm blacks before I went to 😙 so I added an egg and sugar and flour today stirred bunged in the oven. Which meant the house was lovely and warm and smells gorgeous. Also trying to use up the dried fruit. Sultanas ...I also have currants, raisins, peel, cherries!
Thank you for all the good wishes it means a lot especially as two of my sons haven't bothered. Son 3 rang me today before he went to work. He doesn't drive so can't visit. Other two do but I was cross with one after first visit and second has been to busy. I know he has been in Newcastle and appently somewhere else with work. He is quite good at his job and they use him to trouble shoot other places. Still he has two mobile phones so you'd think he could text his mum😤😠😡
I have no energy today.
I forgotten who said maybe SC yes I am down for 24 hr -3 day trace but hospital now thinking it maybe isn't heart. BF says it is a worry as I have BP up and down, dizziness, faint, tingling, shortness of breath plus pain. Everything is coming back ok - bloods. Waiting for urine. They only took that yesterday whereas they used to ask you to pee if went anywhere near a hospital. My worry now is do I stay home next time.

Now I want custard and I am nearly out of milk. Not much of anything except big box of veggies and three tins of beans.

Managed to clean cutlery drawer washed green baize and stood in front of open oven let heat dry it out.😄 lovely and clean now. Wiped work tops, sinks took out recycling. Logs in. Vacuumed through. Can't be bothered to do anything else.

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/02/2018 18:00

Sounds like bean and veggie stew/soup on the cards bower?
I'd be cross too
Just went to cook the cod and realised I'd mistakenly got smoked haddock..remains be seen they'll eat that...

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/02/2018 18:00
Bowerbird5 · 08/02/2018 18:18

Ah it was SC.
Any advice is welcome. They did lots of traces the first two nights. Tues. they did some on A&E and one upstairs. Supposed to do one at 11 pm but no show and I stayed awake especially. I did see Consultant before that so maybe she cancelled it.

Good idea zoo if I could be bothered. I had boiled eggs from little hen for breakfast, left over corned beef hash for lunch which I had last night too. Might just do beans on toast. Is your family all veggie zoo we eat two fish, two meat, two veggie and one random. More Veggie when DD home as she is vegan. DS3 used to be veggie 5-19 so also cooking two meals so kids had two options except if everyone liked the veggie option like Mac cheese or veggie chilli, curry. The risotto sounds lovely.

Bowerbird5 · 08/02/2018 18:19

Idiot!just realised last post was about fish. My brain is lacking concentration.

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/02/2018 18:46

bower you are allowed concentration lapses lovely.you are poorly
Dd2 veggie, gave up meat initially for lent(6yrs this lent)she ditch fish at Easter becoming full fledged veggie then.i said only you eat everything j give you and read lots on nutrition true to her word she ears almost everything offered
DS has had low iron levels,so meat features for him.hes a carnivorous little swine.loves fish too
Lil zoo the same.she adores hummus and they all eat veggie foods, but I doubt the little ones would opt for full time veggie!!

Luckily they ADORED the smoked haddock(with knob of butter in it) and kale and spring onion mash.i had a taster.reminded me if my childhood(my mum loved smoked haddock)

GoingGoingGoth · 08/02/2018 18:54

So this afternoon / early evening didn't happen.

Went to post office & picked up DD from school, felt a bit rough so thought I'd have 10 minute lie down..... 3 HOURS later

On the plus side I feel better.

So instead of pie & veg for dinner, it's a what can i find in the freezer meal.

Bowerbird5 · 08/02/2018 19:31

zoo oh that really made me chuckle out loud.
"hot arse bottle" still chuckling while typing. Thank you for the blankie.

Glad they liked the smoked haddock. My aunt used to make that and lovely fish pie.
Smoked haddock, haddock or cod, salmon, prawns and hard boiled eggs mash on top mmmmm. I have made it with almond milk and it works. You have some lovely meals do you enjoy cooking? I used to love it but tend not to bother so much if on my own. Sometimes I knock out something amazing. I like cooking for other people.

foxessocks · 08/02/2018 19:38

zoo only a taster? Don't forget you're supposed to be eating the meals too!

The cakes were good with custard!

Ta da
Work finished
Dinner cooked with dh help
Dc bathed and to bed
Ironing

Ds did a big poo on his slide...dh had got him out of the bath and he has a little ritual where he likes to run round naked for a minute or two and go down his slide naked (ds not dh obviously - the mind boggles !!) . Anyway he got to the top of his slide and started giggling so I looked over and massive poo on top of the slide . He wasn't happy when I wouldn't let him go down it! Made dh clean it up Grin

Ah parenthood. The glamour.

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/02/2018 19:45

foxesGringlad as she was technically in charge he had clear it up!!
Taster as I'd not cooked much and didn't want take from them.mash was good,I had decent amount of that!
Bower I love to cook.the more I cook for the merrier.

Bowerbird5 · 08/02/2018 21:14

Yeah I sometimes cook for weekends away with church. I do the Friday night. Last time I made fish pie for 11 but there were left overs so could have fed fifteen. Thought they would have seconds think they were being polite as they raved about it. It was a cold night.

Foxes that made me laugh vision of your DH running around the house naked then going down his slide( must live in a mansion) naked!
😳😁
You two have cheered me up tonight.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 08/02/2018 21:22

Omg foxes thats hillarious

The fishiest thing i cook is fish fingers, i cant stand the smell

Vom

Wh0KnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 08/02/2018 22:16

I love fish but can't bear smoked haddock, even the smell makes me heave. This due to an episode of sickness following eating it years ago. I used to love cooking but my fussy family have destroyed my interest in it completely, it is a relentless, joyless slog trying to keep them fed Sad. We get a breakthrough occasionally and they both like to cook from time to time but generally it's a PITA.

Well, not much achieved today. In theiry I have more spare time now both DCs are at secondary school and coming home alone/later but I end up just staying at work longer rather than coming home to do chores. Tomorrow I am planning a charity shop trip, plus home bleugh.

CotswoldStrife · 08/02/2018 23:11

This evening's topic of conversation on here have certainly cheered me up!

I'm going to do the links and come back tomorrow morning. Sleep well fledglings, while we dream of custard and haddock (not together).

Quick list before bed
ta da
✅daily focus - emailed off stuff for the trampolining group. I like the fact I’ve been able to count some things for several different daily focuses (foci?), it involved planning for Tuesday, and did some yesterday as anti procrastination 😂 also sorted a payment for something and looked for something else money related

I seem to be really struggling with physical choring ATM, doing fuck all in the house, but getting admin stuff sorted I suppose much of which has been really stressing me out so that has to count for something.

Bowerbird5 · 09/02/2018 04:46

But you have done loads of admin work Cags and that is important. You and I used to put this off a lot and now we are getting it done. I can see a change. I re- address DS letter, found sick note I had lost, phew and filled in some admin yesterday. Like you feel so much better for getting it done rather than it keep being on my mind. As Wednesday is my day off I try to make it a priority now so I can leave it until Wednsday but must do it then.

Plan for today
Try to get GP app. As need to pass hospital info and I have a few things puzzling me I want to ask.
Catch the one bus in. Hopefully GP then if up to it walk to school to collect my car before someone nicks it.
Get a bit of shopping somewhere.
Dry washing and do two catch up loads.
Make soup

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/02/2018 05:59

Morning.i am thankful I did not dream if custard and haddock togetherWink
Afresh Brewas I suspect another difficult night may have happened whilst you have poorly ones

Cat/kits are fed
Lil zoo medicated
Washings on
Now to see what I can cobble together for pack ups and what tasks need completing before I have them all underfoot for a week!!

Steamcloud · 09/02/2018 06:01
