Hello all - welcome to our February thread for 2018. Everyone is welcome and it's never too late to join in. We are decluttering our homes and keeping them clean and tidy(ish) as well as having some general chat as well.

We follow the Flylady method, and will post links daily to the missions via the Flylady website. For more information, have a look at www.flylady.net/

Here's to a fun February for all of us (with the occasional prod from the pointy stick of motivation and visits to the naughty corner Cake Brew Wine ) Grin

I love wii fit. Favourite is the new games on wii fit plus like the Kung fu. I’m afraid I am top of the leaderboard on pretty much everything

I need to start exercising again, I love my postnatal workout DVD (good ol’ Davina :o) but never fit it in. I’m walking more than I used to which says a lot about my health improvement but I need to step it up, literally!

Cagliostro · 06/02/2018 15:40

Eeep. Part of my planning today includes setting a date to visit mum with the Caglets... taking all 3. Not taking buggy - would be a nightmare on the tram/bus (Greater London so jam packed) and mum lives in a flat. Sooo sling it is. This is going to require military style organisation!

foxessocks · 06/02/2018 16:04

cag which bit is the daily focus?! Blush is that the planning on Tuesday anti procrastination on weds etc? Thanks for the shop and scan info btw I'll have a Google later and see what I can find. Do you do the cashback apps for shopping too? Checkout smart and shopium are good. I get lots of freebies through them.

Ta das
Swish and swipe downstairs loo
Decluttered kids crafty cupboard in the kitchen
Cleaned out cutlery drawer
Finished daily routine
Tidied living room(why I bother i don't know Hmm)

To do
Have some work to do so waiting for dh to get home so I can start and he can finish off dinner.

CotswoldStrife · 06/02/2018 16:11

Am I supposed to whack you across the face with it, can we skip that bit?

At the moment I am on the Wii U Fit - has some new games but ones like the marching band are missing unfortunately. I'm doing the Core Luge for my abs, it's a killer! We could encourage each other here because I can still play the old one on the new system

foxes yes, that's the focus bit. They are good habits to focus on, even if the particular days don't line up with your own schedule.

foxessocks · 06/02/2018 16:14

Oh yes I do do the daily focus then I just get mixed up with fly lady terminology sometimes!

Afreshcuppateaplease · 06/02/2018 16:51

foxes i use top cashback and also have a kid start account

Think i earnt about £15 through top cashback doing christmas shopping

foxessocks · 06/02/2018 19:13

Yes topcashback is good. The checkout smart and shopium ones are where you have an app on your phone and it gives cashback on certain items you buy from the supermarket. Sometimes you get the whole value back for example of a packet of baby biscuits so essentially free. Sorry if I'm telling you what you already know!

I don't think I have kidstart might look at that.

Ta da
Finished my work
Cleaned up the after dinner mess
Both dc in bed (but not yet asleep!)
And dh has made some jam cookies to that's a result Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 06/02/2018 19:38

afresh is "the rage" building?id be a throttling point by now

Ordered me a new coat(who hoo) off studio(was 100,now 49.99. Waterproof.ive been meaning to do this for like forever.ive also order a couple very cheap boyfriend style cardigans.i never buy for myself and literally have one drawer to hold ally belongings.i dont own a jumper yet i feel guilty at spend on me...

Off to eat and vegitate in front TV trying not think about my extravagance

Afreshcuppateaplease · 06/02/2018 20:22

The rage is building for multiple reasons that generally come back to the piss take wife work attitude

Afreshcuppateaplease · 06/02/2018 20:25

Well done for spending on you zoo i often feel guilty spending money on myself then see you know who is wearing new £120 trainers Shock

Steamcloud · 06/02/2018 20:34

[SC grabs hot arse bottle, sidles in to naughty corner, remains strangely silent on subject of to do list.]

Plumbers (who discovered leak), DD off sick, dh needing admin support (to cover sick colleague) = Flying write off.

Don't want to think about how much there is to be done in next two days!

CotswoldStrife · 06/02/2018 22:12

DD's activity was cancelled so that was a bonus! More time to nag her about homework and showering. The long winter nights just fly by Chez Cotswold Hmm Don't even get me started on wife work tonight ...

And breathe. Calm. Think calm thoughts. Drink tea. Consider supplementing drink of tea with Penguin biscuit (it's like the Royle Family here).

I'll post the links next. Kitchen seems to have suffered greatly today, despite having a meal that only used two pans and a chopping board Confused

ta da
✅washing x3 (DH did some)
✅clothes all put away by me and Caglets
✅spelling maths and quick science book thing
✅tap class despite losing track of time
✅Caglets changed their bedding and put washing up away
✅daily focus - I’m definitely finding this so helpful! Planned my stay at mum’s, emailed someone about an appointment, set up event thing for World Book Day party, various emails about trampolining. All things I’d been faffing/procrastinating about. Yay!

Going to bed once baby’s changed.

CotswoldStrife · 06/02/2018 23:07

Well, I'm about to retire to bed with my phone so I can catch up on all your chat.

Feeling somewhat better now, energy levels and appetite not quite back to normal but activity levels are getting back on track. Yesterday I seized the moment (20 mins spare between school run and ballet run) and cleared out the cupboard where I keep tins and jars. Chucked a away a few dregs of old soy sauce etc, cleaned the shelves and rearranged everything, long overdue. Just about keeping on top of laundry, shopping and running the vac round every now and then. Night all.

Wh0KnowsWhereTheT1meG0es · 07/02/2018 00:02

Whew, caught up. A few thoughts.

Lying pre-teens - yep, we've had that phase too. Have made it clear that in virtually all circumstances they will get into trouble for lying rather than for whatever they are lying about. Trust, lack of, boy that cried wolf etc. Also support the making a joke aboit it strategy for not-too-serious lies. Also, get them on their own and relaxed before trying to talk, not always easy though if more than one DC. As for secondary school homework I have found that fairly intense parental input needed at the start of year 7. One DC pretty well totally independent with it after first half term, the other took till year 9 .

Cag - what you said about focussing on what you have achieved is good. I'm trying a few self help strategies for anxieties, one is that for each day in Feb I will write down one nice thing that has happened and one thing I have achieved above the day to day stuff (so far just things like answering an email I'd been putting off, or cleaning that kitchen cipboard). I am already finding myself making more effort to make nice things happen, playing cards with the DCs instead of fiddling with my phone for eg.

Also nodding along re DHs and kitchen mess, floordrobe etc.

Must go to sleep.

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/02/2018 05:40

I still can't get over my alarm waking me and lil zoo still asleep.when she's better hopefully things return to normal(or I maybe tempted to reset alarm to give me extra precious zzzzz)
Whoknows Ido what I've achieved and am grateful for.helps me no endSmile

Afreshcuppateaplease · 07/02/2018 06:20
Brew
Stilllivinginazoo · 07/02/2018 06:57

MoreBrewafresh?Smile

TAda's
Lil zoo meds
Kits/cat fed
Bleach lav
Wash on
Sweep kitchen floor
Sweep living room floor
Tackle kettle mountain pile(ready to attack surfaces later without avalanche)

I am now going to attempt wake dd2 n assess the throat situation.i fear it isn't going to be pretty and her temperament even if she is ok at being woken up is never pleasant

foxessocks · 07/02/2018 07:19

Good morning! Early start here as ds up at 6.30 (sorry, I know that's not early for everyone). Not sure what was up with him he was crying and crying poor thing. He seems fine now anyway. Need to start getting ready in a minute.
