Hello all - welcome to our February thread for 2018. Everyone is welcome and it's never too late to join in. We are decluttering our homes and keeping them clean and tidy(ish) as well as having some general chat as well.

We follow the Flylady method, and will post links daily to the missions via the Flylady website. For more information, have a look at www.flylady.net/

Here's to a fun February for all of us (with the occasional prod from the pointy stick of motivation and visits to the naughty corner Cake Brew Wine ) Grin

To do:
Forgot that plumber may be coming

No snow here sadly!

Zoo V good point about young blokes/technology and well blokes in general really! I blame the fact that I can't operate gadgets on the fact that they were all largely designed by men under 25!! Roll on to the day when women start designing hoovers, food processers, mobile phones etc! And then writing a clear instruction booklet about them!

Take care in the cold Bowerbird!

Steamcloud · 06/02/2018 07:01

Cagliostro · 06/02/2018 08:56

(Sorry bit behind on the thread and just reading about former Fledglings!)

HillsBesideTheSea · 06/02/2018 08:57

Morning.
Send coffee. Hurts to breathe, need a bed rest day. But overtime is looming later. I did know that this month would be a pain in the ass due to the problems we found last month. But I haz the tireds. Roll on Thursday. I plan on sleeping or knitting and maybe watching a film.

Bowerbird5 · 06/02/2018 09:02

Ha ha just got up. If I don't turn my car around I won't be going anywhere. It is facing downhill and absolutely covered in snow. It is snowing like mad. ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️

Steamcloud · 06/02/2018 09:15

Cag Oh dear, I half knew that was a mistake when I wrote it last night!! Grin. I was thinking of someone else, but the nn wouldn't come! (Still won't!)

Zoo I've heard good things about Miele cat and dog - but ££££££

Take it steady Hills! Brew

Safe travelling Bowerbird!

Waves to Cordelia and to everyone else!

Oh dear. Have just received a call from the 'educator' at dd's school. DD isn't feeling well; can we collect? (She's obviously gone back too soon). Dh has gone to get her, as I am waiting for plumber who will be here any moment. Hope she is ok.

Cagliostro · 06/02/2018 09:21

Oh it’s ok I’m sure Fuzzpig is quite flattered you remember her Wink :o Thanks

Right, on with the day I suppose. Slightly better sleep last night. Tesco arriving soon and I need to scan it all for this reward scheme thing. DD keeps having nosebleeds at night Hmm so they’ve stripped their bedding and it’s in the wash thanks to DH.

Throat is suspiciously scratchy HmmAngry

So much to do today. Need to figure out what to do for the daily focus as well.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 06/02/2018 09:23

Hello all. BrewBrewFlowers for poorly people. Hope your DD is ok SC and thanks for links Cotswold.

Ta da:-
Girls at school

To do:-
Prep for play date later
General tidy
Put laundry away
Venture into decluttering kitchen

Very light dusting of snow here.

GoingGoingGoth · 06/02/2018 09:55

Zoo DD is 13 (going on 56) She's got an independent attitude so won't let us help if there are issues at school. Although I'm not sure if this is what's wrong at the moment. IIRC anything set me off at that age. I'm trying not to add to her stress levels by interrogating.

Ta-dahs
Bed made
Breakfast
DD to school
Shopping
Washing up
Gave counter tops a good clean (probably getting ahead of this week's missions) but I wanted to....
Make bread - this is all part of me being more organised this year & spending less time on Twitter
Ordered veg box extras - another part of being organised

To do
More baking/cooking - Braised red cabbage (for freezing in to meal sized portions), celeriac soup, stuffed squash, apple crumble - yes I'm using up last week's veg box Grin
Got a friend coming round this afternoon so she's getting soup, squash & crumble.

Bowerbird5 · 06/02/2018 10:20

Ha ha! I was just planning to use up mine too Goth. Going to make pan of veg soup and have apple crumble for tea. Mine arrives tomorrow. I think I order Seville oranges but it might be for next week half term.

Still snowing but it has slowed down. No word from school yet so must be staying open, need to leave earlier then as roads are bad as I saw some coming in slowly to village school. Lots were late cos I went out at 9:10. Have over an inch on my car bonnet. The trees are heaving and the garden village green is absolutely covered. It looks so pretty, might venture out to take some photos. Later.

Ta dahs
Cleaned out cupboard and washed. Load of washing just finished so one more to go in.
Fire on( it had gone out so bit chilly) and more logs in.
Poor little hen fed warm mash. She was laying me an egg, bless her!
Porridge made and eaten. Definitely a porridge day here.
Some washing up done ( from last night oops) so off to clean microwave. Got the music blaring. This is when I would like an AGA. It is chilly in the kitchen. I'm thinking I will put oven on and bake a cake / scones just to warm the place up. It is making me do it quickly to keep warm .

CotswoldStrife · 06/02/2018 10:36

Good morning lovelies, cold and crisp here today. So far, done half my shopping and got DD to school. Just taken root sitting down with a coffee and croissant to catch up on things here.

Roll call for today so far:-

SC triaged laundry - great expression there, so apt! I hope DD feels better soon
Cag Star well done for keeping going Star
Bower keep out of the cold air (any chance of a photo of the snood for inspiration) and did I see Cake being baked there, all contributions to the naughty corner greedily gratefully accepted Grin
zoo are you getting any sleep yourself, that's another early start from you today!
fresh at that time of day an extra 45 minutes is not to be sniffed at!
cordelia have you seen the meme about the science project, it's so true.
Hills hope the breathing eases and the day passes in a blur of speed for you
stressy we have had a little flurry of snow here this morning but not enough to stick Hope the play date goes well I am not a fan
Goth my DD is younger than yours but doesn't like to talk about anything 'sad' that happens at school. I've had her class mates approach me and tell me if she's been upset though!

Will crack on, flurry has stopped and sun is attempting to come out. Catch you at lunchtime!

Thanks Toostressy DD is back and ok. She felt weak and dizzy in class though and her cough is awful. Doctor's appt made. When is wm engineer coming?

Your cooking sounds delicious Goth and Bower!

Take it steady Cag! Flowers in return!

Plumber is here and I am faffing. Need to crack on.

Steamcloud · 06/02/2018 10:46

Xpost Cotswold waves! Sounds like your DD has lovely friend s!

GoingGoingGoth · 06/02/2018 11:39

Bower yes mine comes tomorrow too. My plan for us to have more veg in our meals doesn't seem to be working yet.

Both DD & DH are picky fussy over trying new things. Standard veg & potatoes no problem, but I get bored of doing that.

Having a quick 5 mins while bread is baking, I'm a bit worried it doesn't seem to have risen much. Hoping that's because it's 100% wholemeal and not because I'm out of practice.

foxessocks · 06/02/2018 13:28

Hello! cag I'm curious about your scanning reward thing...tell me more (please!). I'm desperately trying to save money!

We've been at toddler group this morning and just had lunch and got ds down for his nap amongst other things.

Ta das
Bought onions
Dropped off some paperwork to the GP
Made appointment at salon
Dishwasher on and then unloaded and reloaded
Made the chicken and veg and sauce for tonight's dinner (chicken skewers with cous cous).

To do
Finish daily routine
Swish and swipe downstairs loo
Declutter in kitchen
Cutlery drawer
Planning for the week

CotswoldStrife · 06/02/2018 13:38

Had lunch (soup, again) and done a bit of exercise. Not strenuous, only the Wii Fit and every time I think I'm going to take the top spot in a game my DD is already there above me Grin

Better start on the kitchen and finish my shopping, DD will probably want to go to her activity tonight so need to squash in her antibiotics and homework into the gaps. Really need to be on top of things but unfortunately still lagging behind in some and SO looking forward to the half-term next week!

Sympathies on the fussy eaters boring meal rut frustration. Drives me mad. Trying to gradually persuade the Caglets to eat more and consider whether they really genuinely hate something or whether it’s just “not a favourite” and if it’s the latter they can sodding well eat it. I had a rant at them last week and it has made a little difference, but baby steps.

Foxes it’s something called shopandscan, you get a little clicker to scan barcodes of everything you buy, then upload them so they can monitor your purchase habits. Bit of a faff but I think I’ll get faster and it saves up points which you can swap for vouchers, so I’m doing it with Christmas in mind really. I’m not sure if anyone can sign up as I got an invite letter with a code. That was via the market research people called Kantar - if you ever get asked to do a survey by them (they have people knocking on doors etc) I think it’s worth saying yes, as I’ve had a few opportunities since by letting them keep my details.

Quite liking the daily focus thing, I don’t know why I resisted it for so long (well I do - black and white thinking strikes again, I didn’t think I could follow it perfectly so why bother... FFS)

Just need to extricate myself from under the baby and sort the laundry out and have foooood
