Fledglings fly into December to party hard.

Morning.

Tomorrow is December 1st which means roll call for the fledglings and shiny new thread. It might seem a bit clicky but it is because it is a long term thread, park your arse in the naughty corner for moral support, natter and various delicious goodies. Oh and smidge of housework too.

We follow the flylady system HOWEVER we adapt it to suit the circumstances of our lifes and sometimes we ignore the slightly more fluffy/bonkers babysteps --because we can and there ain't no one the boss of us

Afreshnewyearplease · 30/12/2017 07:12

Ta da

Cleared worktop 1 after dp cooked last night
Sorted some recycling

Callmecordelia · 30/12/2017 07:32

There's storage and cleaning special buys in Aldi at the moment. I'm going to take a look later.

Afreshnewyearplease · 30/12/2017 07:34

Yes callme i ordered a storage drawers thing from aldi in hope of getting control of dds craft shit!

Ta da

Cleared worktop 1 after dp cooked last night

Washer on
Dryer on

Callmecordelia · 30/12/2017 07:48

Good luck with that. I swear the craft shit breeds here. Every time I look at DD's desk it's covered, and DH is a terrible hoarder of every scribble. Drives me potty.

Afreshnewyearplease · 30/12/2017 07:58

Hopefully when the drawers are delivered it will motivate me to declutter the craft stuff!

I do also need some kallax units from ikea for ds2 and dds bedrooms but need to sort out a lift there and back....also decide if january funds will stretch to those!

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/12/2017 08:10

Zoolets fed n watered

Afreshnewyearplease · 30/12/2017 08:18

Kallax is really good zoo

3 eldest already have some in their rooms but ds2 and dd need more now

Sludgecolours · 30/12/2017 08:29

Morning! Excuse language but it's fookin' Wuthering Heights here! Wind is literally howling, bits of trees keep flying past, furry's ears are straight back, considering attaching weights to him and dd before they are blown away... .

I think the key to putting laundered clothes away is not having too many of them, having sufficient storage space (ummm), having drawers/receptacle/whatever properly divided (ie each type of clothing has specific spot) and being ruthless about keeping it neat (sort X 2 per year). Then it's not a pain to do.

As usual, I am better theorising about this than actually doing it. We have one wardrobe plus one chest of drawers each (plus one spare chest of drawers for big woollies etc) and nearly all of them are in utter turmoil ATM. Sorting them all out is the first thing on my list when I get home.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/12/2017 08:35

Morning all,

I also drool over Kallax. It just seems to be the perfect storage, especially for kids. Sadly we have none, one day maybe but as we may move in the future we are trying not to buy big bits of furniture. I do love looking at organised houses / storage ideas though!

Ta da:-
RBC put away
Calendar check

To do:-
Morning routine
Breakfast, etc. All in PJs here atm.

We are off to the pantomime today Smile.

Next week’s plan is to tidy Christmas away and work on behaviour. Time to get the parenting manual out again. Sigh. When does the sibling bickering stop??????!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 30/12/2017 08:37

Xpost, yes SC, those are definitely the key to laundry / clothes! Kids definitely have too many of some type of clothing, may need another declutter.

Afreshnewyearplease · 30/12/2017 08:38

I really need to go through dds clothes. She outgrew a lot. She has new stuff but the old too small stuff is still in there. Last night she appeared in a pj top that was like a crop top!

Callmecordelia · 30/12/2017 09:15

We are a trofast household. I think that's breeding too....

Afreshnewyearplease · 30/12/2017 09:17

We have trofast too! I prefer kallax though!

Ds3 is napping. Need to get off my arse.

Power of 2 To Do

Take out rubbish
Wash pots
Sort dry washing

Callmecordelia · 30/12/2017 09:22

I like the slimmer profile of the trofast in our tiny rooms, and I have stash of shelves and boxes to make it flexible. However, I think they'll hate it when they're teenagers. Smile

Cagliostro · 30/12/2017 09:30

I didn't sort our laundry. Sigh. Only one basket though and DH is off today so he can do it. Neither of us have much TBH and we have a lovely built in wardrobe, which is huge and currently houses the Caglets' clothes as well as ours, BUT the sliding doors are dodgy and there's so much clutter in front of them.

I need to sort through Cagletini's clothes - she is comfortably in the 0-3m stuff now so although some of the bigger newborn/1m stuff still fits I may as well put it away as she has plenty.

The Caglets need their clothes going through as DS has shot up recently and loads of his joggers have holes at the knees. DD keeps growing too. Bloody kids. I am not going to rush to replace everything though as while they do wear everything, they don't need as much as they have because we have a decent dryer. I'm aiming to reduce the amounts they have.

Not buying myself anything just yet as my clothes now fit better than pre pregnancy and hopefully I'll continue losing.

I LOVE Kallax and we are getting lots when we move, mostly for board games and books! We have Trofast for toys and home ed stuff, will probably replace the drawers for them to give them a new lease of life.

Cagliostro · 30/12/2017 09:33

Not sure what we are doing with the tree, DH likes to keep it up until epiphany but our living room is so small and now we have all the baby stuff there's even less space! I want to probably sort and clean all tree decorations but not sure I can be arsed

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/12/2017 11:42

I have trofast. as ds has grown out of it i have inherited it for my stash of wool and fibre and crafting stuff. I love the bench type piece it is the perfect height for sitting on to spin. Kallax looks great but i hated putting it together and I find I get more actual storage space from shelving which doesn't have so many dividers.

Wrt ds just can't manage to put it away and get it to fit so he helps to iron and fold and I will just stomp through and put it away for him in around 10mins. My room is harder to put things away atm as it is not tidy enough to access the clothes storage easily. Also I am less likely to chuck it on the floor so it tends to get left last.

I am hoping to clear needles a bit before now and new years but much more in January (only 2 new makes which are for birthdays). But I did promise to take mum to ikea so I believe we are doing that this evening.

You all the jobs that were bugging me last night. A person did them for me. I just need to fling a mop around the kitchen and bathroom and clean the bathroom. Shock I did say they were mostly functional And And And someone has kept on top of the washing up Shock Grin Which means I can hopefully have fully rested by Jan ready for dealing with ds' boy dungeon. don't make me Wink

Ah yes the projects!
Yes, the craft shit does definitely breed. DD has just informed me that "nothing in THAT corner belongs to me." So I will be able to work through and hopefully declutter it. She did point out that a bag of wool in there was mine😳 I recognised the bag ...it is large!
Well DD is on her way home with boyfriend/ partner I don't envy them that long drive at least 5 hrs on a good day. She hankers after moving back north but hasn't persuaded him yet.
Ta dahs
I have a lovely fire on
Dishwasher loaded and on.
Washing machine on half load so looking for more.
Cat now on its way and chicken finally convinced that there is no cat food to peck at so back free ranging in garden instead of pushing her way in every time I open the door.
Need to do that kitchen floor. Dd like father doesn't wipe boots or take them off when coming in.
I have Outdoor Shoes and felt slippers! If you haven't got Outdoor Shoes get some well worth £25.
