Morning.

Tomorrow is December 1st which means roll call for the fledglings and shiny new thread. It might seem a bit clicky but it is because it is a long term thread, park your arse in the naughty corner for moral support, natter and various delicious goodies. Oh and smidge of housework too.

We follow the flylady system HOWEVER we adapt it to suit the circumstances of our lifes and sometimes we ignore the slightly more fluffy/bonkers babysteps --because we can and there ain't no one the boss of us

To do

Wash all pots
Clear and wipe worktops
Empty dryer

foxessocks · 29/12/2017 09:32

Morning all. afresh make sure you get some rest and some time for yourself - could you maybe go out for a few hours by yourself and leave dp in charge?! I know probably nothing will get done but at least you could have a breather.

We had a bad night here. Dh was up coughing and spluttering. Ds was up from 4-6. I got really cross. Dh got cross and went downstairs at 6. I had a lie in but still don't feel refreshed! These colds will not go away. It's so frustrating.

We were going to go out this morning but not sure that will happen now.

Cagliostro · 29/12/2017 09:33

Love the name change! :o

Glad you caught up on some sleep hills I'm feeling slightly more human as Cagletini went almost six hours straight. Makes up for yesterday's awful evening (as she'd had jabs she was somewhat out of sorts although possibly not much worse than other times...). She then had another 90m after a feed but then woke up screaming, not a hungry or windy cry, can babies have bad dreams?!

Got friends this afternoon and family tomorrow so much tidying to be done. I'm still in bed with the baby though while the others are downstairs. Shame.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/12/2017 11:36

Also love the name Afresh Smile.

Hello all, we are having a day at home to try to get on top of Christmas chaos as we have a busy weekend. It is cold and rainy , DD1, DH and I have colds and DD2 is getting over her cold. So hoping to manage a lazy day and do something with the chaos that is the house.

Ta da:-
DH nipped to the shop for some bits
Morning routine

To do:-
DD1 actually wants to tidy her room but needs help (the storage in there is not ideal and it is far too messy atm for her to manage on her own)!!!!! So it was not in my plan but since she actually wants to tidy then I am going to help her do this.

DD2 wants to watch tv (king fu panda 2 is on) so she is installed in living room.

My priority is laundry. We have clean clothes everywhere needing to be unpacked and put away. Hoping to do this while helping DD1.

Need to think about lunch but am hoping DH will do that. Just gave the girls a snack so they should be ok without food for at least the next two minutes.

Ignore the fact that the shower door has broken in the hope DH will fix later.

I haven’t fully caught up on the thread so just sending festive wing flaps to all. Thanks for all the links Hills.

Afreshnewyearplease · 29/12/2017 12:23

Well i didnt do any of my three things but i did beat the shit out of the christmas tree and it is now in the garden Grin

Cagliostro · 29/12/2017 12:49

Table is clearer thanks to the others, DH did laundry too so it's been a very easy morning for me while I waited for painkillers to kick in. Now waiting for friends to arrive and later will put out a load of no-cook buffet stuff to munch while we play lots of board games :) laundry will need putting away, does anyone else find they get too ahead of themselves with it so it builds up more? So often I think oh I'll wait till the next lot is dry, so it all piles up and then it's a massive task. But today I know we will be too busy to do the second lot so I am determined to get the Caglets doing their stuff from the first lot as soon as it's dry. Must do better at strictly one full load dry each day.

Afreshnewyearplease · 29/12/2017 14:18

Living rooms are getting there now the tree has gone. Much more space. Toys need homes. Ordered a gate for ds3s bedroom and then will put a few toys in there and he will be able to play in there when im cleaning upstairs etc

Bowerbird5 · 29/12/2017 15:06

Ta dahs
Dining table clear.
Left over stuff I was wanting DD to put up I have either put away or put up.
Vacuumed sitting and dining room.
Logs in and caught fire this morning.
IRONING done! Yeah me!
A load of washing in and now on rack.
Made DD clean up the mess she left in kitchen this morning before I take her out

CotswoldStrife · 29/12/2017 15:14

foxes we are also down due to bugs, DD has been ill for weeks! We are all sneezing and coughing and have done nothing between Christmas and now - DD has never had so many pyjama days, I've been out to the shops twice for tissues and necessary supplies! Not what we'd planned at all.

As well as my usual enthusiasm for a fresh start in the new year, DH has some hospital tests early on. The GP has been less than prompt with the referral and I think it could have been arranged so it didn't drag right over Christmas and New Year for us, but unfortunately that's not been the case.

It's the first time we haven't travelled over the period to see family and it has been really nice to be at home, relaxed and comfy rather than packing and rushing.

I can't even talk about the laundry mountain here. Not done nearly enough upkeep over the past week with us all feeling bad. Still, there's always time to catch up Jab me with the stick, fledglings!

Sludgecolours · 29/12/2017 15:19

Hi all, Internet connection weedy but working... just...

First set of guests have departed, everywhere is a bit of a tip, DD and I are wallowing in the scrag end of Christmas ( dd is moody and missing her friends), I have a cold/headache, DH is exasperatedly trying to conclude a deal in three countries whilst Internet cuts outs intermittently, weather is at its foulest (+1, horizontal sleet, overcast, icy howling wind) and furry has sore paws ... and the strain of having to be unusually polite and helpful to one another over the past six days in the presence of visitors has started to takes its toll...Grin

I went in to the village to post some cards (it's usual to send them over NY here) and my car was nearly blown in to the ditch, the wind was so strong. Various canvases we have attached to various roofs while they are being renovated are threatening to blow off.

So, totally normal post-Christmas slump I reckon Grin

Ta for links Hills!

V good of you to offer to take on Jan Toostressy!

Hope all the colds/coughs/ailments clear up quickly and you can all profit from a bit more shut eye!

Going to post this now before Internet goes down again!

Tally ho!

Sludgecolours · 29/12/2017 15:50

HillsBesideTheSea · 29/12/2017 17:29

Roads cleared enough to make the trip to wales so have been out most of the day. Just heading for hot water bottle and bed. Because rest is needed I am trying very hard to ignore the giant pile of laundry that is forming, or the fact that someone needs to hoover the downstairs as it is starting to loose the brightness to its colour stupid building dust A polishing cloth should probably be flung around too. But I am going to ignore it. Yes I am I need to ignore it

I do hope that everyone is on the up and up and sick become less poorly, trees get less beatings up and internets play nice. Have a lovely evening will be back at some point with links but no promises as to whether it is tonight or tomo.

Lovely to hear from you SC. Yes, I think the post-Xmas slump is very normal. Miserable day here but things have improved as the girls are in onesies watching Harry Potter with DH. Was sorely tempted to join them but more tempted by the prospect of finishing tidying DD1’s room in peace (she did do a bit herself) so am upstairs doing that.

Sorry to hear of so much illness, especially for you Cotswold if you have had a difficult Christmas with it all.

Cag, yes very much so with laundry piling up. In fact I finally realised a few months ago that if I have lots of clean laundry waiting to go away I need to do that before even putting another load on. Seems counter intuitive with an empty washer yet loads of dirty laundry but it just piles up into chaos if the clean stuff doesn’t get put away. Nearly managed all laundry put away, will carry on with the tidying.

Cagliostro · 29/12/2017 21:02

Yep absolutely stressy I sometimes end up with a few loads worth to put away at once. It's much smoother when we do one complete load start to finish instead. It's much better than say a year ago when it would be all over the stairs etc. But still needs improvement and dedication to the routine! Didn't end up doing the first lot this morning either. Sigh. Caglets doing theirs now (both lots) and hopefully I can escape from under the baby to do ours (DH won't be home from work till 11)

Had a fab evening with friends though, lots of games including Go Nuts for Donuts :) I actually didn't eat buffet food yet as wasn't hungry (couldn't possibly be the fact we had opened a pack of pretzels beforehand... Xmas Blush It does show how my appetite has changed though as in the past I still would've eaten loads just because it was there). But I'm feeling ready for dinner now so will just have what's left out.

Bowerbird5 · 29/12/2017 23:23

Waves to all. Just back in after going to the theatre. Years since I have been. Nearly didn't get there as major accident on The road. Just in front of us. We couldn't see it but it was just over the hill. After about 20 mins of not moving I managed to get onto another road double back and then go another road and cut through ahead. Arrived with 20 mins to spare but meant we didn't get there when we expected to go to lovely Italian restaurant beforehand. DD raced in to pick up tickets and grabbed me a sandwich and herself a bag of crisps. Had a hot punch at interval and went for chips afterwards. No more ta dahs I went straight to bed with hot spicy gin and DD put washing on as she discovered they are going back tomorrow. Saves on washing liquid. Savvy!
Sorry lots of poorly people.
What is it about putting washing away...I hate it. I haven't done mine it is at the end of the bed. Tomorrow!

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/12/2017 06:20

I get fed up zoolets dump clean wash on floor n I end up rewashed it after scout at runs in with muddy paws and lays on it,.
New year dd2 starts chores for pocket money and as she's biggest offender hoping it improves or I end up better of financially

Today's the day I reclaim my home from Xmas....
Wish me luck!

Afreshnewyearplease · 30/12/2017 06:37

Good luck zoo!

Made a dent in mine yesterday but will be continuing today!

Bowerbird5 · 30/12/2017 06:57

Ah zoo are you taking everything down?
I don't put mine up until about 20 th so just enjoying it now. DD is off home today so I am planning a big tidy this morning and then enjoy and watch film. I will miss her but not the mess she leaves. I did mention it to her yesterday and she did clean up the kitchen😃

Wonders if it is white outside. We had a sprinkling yesterday more on higher ground.

Plan for today
Clean kitchen
Put clothes away
Dust

Finish craft present and watch film.

Callmecordelia · 30/12/2017 07:03

I take our decorations down on New Year's Day.

DH is still home, working tomorrow, but then off again until the second. It's so rare that he's here for any length of time that the flying is taking a back seat.

DD got up half an hour ago and is playing in her room, DS is still asleep. I'll get a cup of tea and enjoy the peace.

Waves and wingflaps to all.

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/12/2017 07:07

bowerwe haven't room for a tree so just paper chains made of newspapers and 3Dsnowflakes we made strung from ceiling .as rooms cluttered it adds to feeling walls are closing in on me....
