Morning.

Tomorrow is December 1st which means roll call for the fledglings and shiny new thread. It might seem a bit clicky but it is because it is a long term thread, park your arse in the naughty corner for moral support, natter and various delicious goodies. Oh and smidge of housework too.

We follow the flylady system HOWEVER we adapt it to suit the circumstances of our lifes and sometimes we ignore the slightly more fluffy/bonkers babysteps --because we can and there ain't no one the boss of us

Afreshturkeyplease · 27/12/2017 12:04

Think ill be looking at the frugaleers thread cag!

Sludgecolours · 27/12/2017 12:10

Hello everyone! Just taking advantage of the Internet working ATM (v dodgy connection here) to say I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas! Sorry to hear about various illnesses though and hope they are not long lasting! Hope all little 'uns had a fab and exciting time! Smile

Congrats on your dd's engagement Zoo!! Very romantic at this time of year!

We had a lovely time (ate Christmas dinner in a cow shed!Grin) and have been on lots of blustery dog walks and a rather (inadvertently) exciting horse ride yesterday where even my placid mount (weight bearing plod - leg on each corner type - needed a winch to get me up and down) was spooked by the wind. Dd's bolted off with her but she managed to regain control thankfully.

Next year (God willing) I will be doing more planning in advance! DH is convinced that a "last minute" Christmas is more relaxing, but I find it much more stressful! Also, not looking forward to returning to wreck 1 which I left in a truly pitiful stateBlush

Ta for links Hills you have set me thinking about next year's goals. Deffo health and increasing income for me, losing weight and getting fit and improving langs (as ever) and want to finish one creative project (sewing/painting/drawing) per month and start planning a patchwork quilt for DD for when she goes to uni. That's aside from all the building projects going on in two different sites and continuing residency process here. Yaargh!

Hope to "see you" all again at NY but if connection not working wishing everyone the very best for 2018 and thank you lovely fledglings for helping me stay (relatively) sane during the last one!

Tally-ho!!!!!!!!!!!

foxessocks · 27/12/2017 12:25

Have been decluttering like crazy while dh is at the cinema. The kids have been very good playing by themselves while I get on. And even managed a game of paw patrol cards with dd before ds started whinging to be included then promptly ran off with the cards. Successful morning I think. Just had a tea and mince pie now I need to get ds down for a nap.

My new years resolutions need finalising haha...but definitely something along the lines of less time on my phone, saving money, exercise...perhaps contradicting the saving money in a way but I want to buy quality rather than quantity in some cases like clothes, stuff for the home etc. But want to use aldi more for my normal shopping as I think they have some great stuff. Basically my resolutions are a bit mixed up and need fine tuning!

Cagliostro · 27/12/2017 13:00

Much love sludge and a happy new year!

Afresh you'd be most welcome on frugaleers! Like this thread it is a long running group so it can seem cliquey but it's really lovely and welcoming. It's made so much difference to our finances. These are the only two threads I check on every day :)

HillsBesideTheSea · 27/12/2017 16:23

Aim for the rest of the day? do not kill anyone. Bloody hell the grumps have settled in here. I am glad I was safely at work most of the day Shock

Bowerbird5 · 28/12/2017 00:27

Sounds like you have all had very busy days.

I didn't sleep. Five hours awake then dozed on and off for an hour and gave up and got up. I would have gone downstairs but DD was lazy and didn't go out for logs so she had just put heater on while I was at friends. Minx! She had planned to meet up with uni mate and har mum and sis today I didn't really feel like taking her but in the end it was a really lovely afternoon out. I had met mum and sis at graduation and both lovely, friendly people. Her friend I have known and seen quite a lot of so it was great to see her again. They house shared for a while. Only regret is the tasty soup I had is now bothering me. Root veg and lentils.
I managed to sort left over decorations and put out to shed box. Vacuumed all downstairs and made DD bring logs in before taking her and a good move because she has stayed night with boyfriend's family. Her cat is looking for her but now curled up on my bed. House is cold and been freezing yesterday and today. I fell asleep in Harry Potter.
Time with family more important I think than dust.
You tea sounded lovely zoo I had left overs 😃 oh and a ginger hot beverage with a little drop of spiced gin. For medicinal purposes.

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/12/2017 00:40

Sorry you had such a crap night Bower hope you have a better night tonight.

Defused the angst but not going to lie my tea was some kitkats I picked up for emergency supplies. Its christmas healthy isn't compulsory. but it should be because it was a bad move.

SHould be asleep, can't sleep and haven't broken the back of the insomnia yet. So am just heading to find the links for tomo.

Sorry you had such a difficult night Bower.

I'm going to take DD to the christingle service in the local-ish cathedral, might go into M&S if it's not too heaving.

To do
Ring bike shop
Hoover
Washing
Wrap wedding anniversary presents for tomorrow, write card.

Afreshturkeyplease · 28/12/2017 07:35

Im so tired these days. I dont really get why. Im going to aim for 10pm bed tonight. Earlier if possible. Just feel drained.

Last night i half cleaned/tidied the kitchen but its still a shit hole.

Think im gonna start with to do lists of 3 and see how it goes

To do

Wash all pots
Clear surfaces of clutter
Wipe surfaces

Callmecordelia · 28/12/2017 07:52

Afresh - the only thing that has ever made a difference to my tiredness levels has been iron tablets. I take them daily now, and while I still get tired, it's not quite as bad. I felt drained and ill all the time, and my immune system was crap, more sleep didn't even touch it. Now I get tired, but it's the normal tiredness of mum with small children, not the bone crushing feeling of fatigue I had before. Might be worth a try. Flowers

Stilllivinginazoo · 28/12/2017 07:55

It's post Xmas comedown afresh I too am exhausted and feel like I've been run over and reversed back n forth....
Ditto the crap hole situation
I fell asleep on sofa(row with DP)and when I woke few mins ago all I could think is where the Dickens are all these gifts going to live permanently??

Afreshturkeyplease · 28/12/2017 08:00

Thanks callme i have been prescribed iron tablets before as was anemic in pregnancies 2, 3 and 4. However they made me terribly constipated Blush

I generally get 6 hours max sleep per night. Going to sleep at 10 might get me to 8 hours.

Hopefully itll work. Ive already nodded off watching milkshake with dc3&4 this morning

foxessocks · 28/12/2017 08:11

Sorry everyone is struggling with tiredness - hopefully things improve in the new year when routines are a bit better! We've been feeling really run down here too, none of us are shaking these colds off and dd is so grumpy this morning.

On the plus side I managed a lot of decluttering and putting things away yesterday. Off to the shops this morning as despite having heaps of leftovers we need things like milk and cereal!

Callmecordelia · 28/12/2017 08:35

I hear you there Afresh Blush. I find an iron enriched multivitamin is enough, and doesn't seem to have the terrible side effects of the iron tablets that you get prescribed for anaemia, probably because the dose is so low. It's just enough for me to go over a tipping point though.

MercuryRising · 28/12/2017 08:56

After a lovely Christmas I need to get back into flying. I think it needs to be one of my New Years Resolutions.

Today I am going to tackle Mt Washmore. How is it my ironing basket and wash baskets were pretty much empty before Christmas and now they are overflowing again?!

I am also planning on sorting through ds2s toys to make room for his presents ... not sure this will happen.

Bowerbird5 · 28/12/2017 09:29

After grumbling tum(root veg) I had a good nights sleep. I woke a few times and apart from 1 hour managed to get back to sleep. Thanks.
.zoo I know just what you mean...great simile
I nipped down to make a mug of tea, put a couple of logs on and pulled out air vents so hopefully fire will burst into life, crawled back into bed where it is warm. It is absolutely freezing here. The ice never melted yesterday. It was 2C last night at 6:30 pm.
Three seems a good idea .

To do
Find table in kitchen ( still haven't managed this. I cleared some only for others to add more👿) so do while no one here.
Wash floor.
Then fold washing ,maybe iron some.
If I get this done move upstairs to pile of clean washing. Put away.

Enjoyable list of to dos.
Watch a film while ironing.
Start a jigsaw as DD was asking for one. We always had aChristmas one.she was able to help from 2 1/2. 1000 piece!

Cagliostro · 28/12/2017 09:40

Yup I hear you on the iron! Also worth asking about vitamin D and B levels if you get blood tests. Also if you supplement iron make sure you have vitamin C with it as it aids absorption (caffeine sadly hinders it). Must take own advice...

Sorry about being in pain. Struggling myself so definitely back to ask for more blood tests (it's not my usual fibro pain).

All I've done so far is phone the GP to sort something else (didn't actually think to make myself an app) and hobbled out of bed. Going to be a loooong day.

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/12/2017 09:48

B complex suppliment and Vit D are my big suppliment requirements which help with my energy levels. VIt D helps with my sleep pattern and mood in winter too.

When i fell asleep I fell asleep hard, it is hard to wake up today but I know I have going to have to get into work a bit early as will have to throw some grit on the road so I can get there. Hmm What happened warm rainy winters?! Confused
