Fledglings fly into December to party hard.

Morning.

Tomorrow is December 1st which means roll call for the fledglings and shiny new thread. It might seem a bit clicky but it is because it is a long term thread, park your arse in the naughty corner for moral support, natter and various delicious goodies. Oh and smidge of housework too.

We follow the flylady system HOWEVER we adapt it to suit the circumstances of our lifes and sometimes we ignore the slightly more fluffy/bonkers babysteps --because we can and there ain't no one the boss of us

Exciting news!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/12/2017 13:01

Eeeeeeeee! How exciting zoo. Also love the photo Xmas Smile.

Merry Christmas everyone Xmas Smile.

Thanks Bower, two excited children here although things have settled a bit now as presents opened. Bad night’s sleep last night for everyone as DD2 has a cold / cough and kept everyone awake which meant that DD1 couldn’t sleep and was far too excited to try very hard to get to sleep. Luckily for me I think I am the least tired person as being at in laws is practically a spa break so was very well rested before last night. Will see what tonight brings...

Hope you all have a lovel Christmas and it is not too stressful.

HillsBesideTheSea · 25/12/2017 14:48

Very laid back Christmas here. Ds is so poorly with a virus he can barely get out of bed, but did manage a good dinner we don't do presents until after the Queens speech so we'll do that later. I am chilling out in bed whilst they watch films downstairs. I forgot to wrap some present so am in the process of getting that sorted Blush

Zoo that is lovely

Hope you are all enjoying your days and that excited children are not too exhausting and relatives all play nice and there is good food to eat. Have a lovely Christmas!

the promise link but do not click it

zoo how exciting, Mother of the Bride

Cag she is a Christmas cutie!

Still living in the house of coughs and colds here - sadly a regular occurrence at Christmas for some unknown reason. I only had about four hours sleep before DD woke at 6.00am (her earliest ever - she never wakes up early on Christmas Day!) so only had about four hours sleep. I went back to bed for a nap late afternoon and I think we'll all be having an early night!

We've had a nice day though, we got DD lots of presents to open (we don't see family on the day or for some time after it tbh) and she is really pleased.

I still haven't finished the washing up, I gave up and went to bed before - will do more tonight and run the dishwasher!

Have a good evening everyone, Merry Christmas!

CotswoldStrife · 25/12/2017 22:02

Slightly off-topic, but if you have twitter search for the hashtag #duvetknowitschristmas Hilarious photos of the spare rooms people are staying in.

So having totally ignored the concept of links because lets be honest Boxing day is for hanging about in PJs, eating left overs and watching tv.

Here are the links for Wednesday (27th)
I will be back at work so will try to stick my head in and see if anyone has had any link problems. But no promises.

Has anyone else got around to thinking about setting their planner up yet? Pinterest has been throwing so many ideas at me that I am slightly over whelmed but I think I have narrowed it down to:
A monthly overview sheet
Sleep tracker
weight tracker
Goals break down and tracker
A section for storing the important paperwork for appointments etc
And a financial section

And then my to do list book which seems to be the best method of tracking this aspect.

Is this pretty standard for most people? have you got other sections that you find most useful? How are you planning to use/organise next year?

OH dear, stomping feet and slamming doors means something needs investigating. BBL.

Callmecordelia · 26/12/2017 16:56

I use ynab for finances and my fitness pal for weight.

I'm experimenting with Google keep for to do lists. I prefer to have things on my phone than on paper.

I'd like to keep more on top of the endless flows of paper into the house, from school, doctors etc. At the moment I just chuck it into a pile and file it every month or so. I need to do better at that, even if it's only a resolution not to put it off. I'd be interested to see how we're all managing that sort of thing.

Tried a couple of the links. Seem to be working. Xmas Smile

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/12/2017 17:01

Thank You Callme i am trying to get back onto paper and ditch the technology. I am happier technology free so for me paper is the only way to go. Thankfully it is only hospital letters that come on paper, school stuff is all emailed. SO that does reduce the stream of paper into the house a bit. I am hoping to do the one touch system again. Open, file done. It works well when I remember to use it and I do have the files set up ready to go so it is not really a hard thing to do. In. Theory. Hmm

I love how there are so many systems out there that it is possible to find one that works for specifically for you. No one size fits all nonsense Grin

Thank you Hills for the links. Spring clean scheduled from 3-6 Jan.

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/12/2017 19:01

Ah so efficient of you, we spring clean just before Easter. But then we deep clean everything just before Christmas so it should buy a few months of grace Grin

OP posts:
Lisette40 · 26/12/2017 19:05

Blush no spring cleaning has been done here for, er, quite a while. We do hoover and dust as ds has a dust mite allergy. We did nothing before Christmas at all. WinkGrin starting afresh with Flylady in 2018 but want a baseline of cleanliness.

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/12/2017 19:39

Well that makes sense. Ah the dreaded dust mite allergy. Not a good thing when on a building site. I am hoping that we can have January without any building work before the next round commences as it involved plaster and plaster dust in a room that is open plan with the kitchen. It is not going to be anywhere near anyone's concept of fun HmmSad

Thanks Cotswold it was amusing.

Agree Boxing Day is for chilling, visiting friends, having a walk, eating leftovers. Did stick vacuum over sitting room. Re- did some decorations. Now have star lights suspended from invisible thread across window. They have battery operated bulbs in they look awesome!
Feeling a lot better today not in so much pain I have managed a short walk to friends. DS 2 cooked a great meal yesterday but admitted (4times) that he didn't realise cooking Christmas dinner was so much work!
So just try and have some rest.

Bowerbird5 · 27/12/2017 02:09

Awake for last hour and in pain, buggar!

Afreshturkeyplease · 27/12/2017 07:07

I also have earache and a sore throat!

foxessocks · 27/12/2017 09:22

Morning all! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas. Thanks for the links hills
Sorry you're poorly afresh we have all had colds in time for Christmas here typical! Still managed to have a nice time though.

I'm not doing any flying this week as dh is off work so I'm going to relax and enjoy the time with a bit of decluttering and spring (winter! ?) cleaning when I get the chance. Yesterday I actually did declutter dd toy box and made room for some new stuff. I'm weird and actually like doing cleaning after Christmas!

Dd is just doing that typical small child thing and playing with an empty kitchen roll tube and ignoring her new toys Hmm having said that the scoop and learn that I almost couldn't get is a big hit with both kids!

HillsBesideTheSea · 27/12/2017 09:31

So you were up with painsomnia Bower I hope that you managed to get some sleep and that you can tame/resolve the pain.

Colds here for Christmas, everything is so hectic before Christmas it is not surprising that people are run down. Hope all the poorly people feel better soon.

Me last night: I will set my alarm early, get up and be productive
The reality: alarm went off early, me - I have lots of time I will just watch that podcast and do some internet window shopping...

Now off to get to work. Have lovely days.

Lisette40 · 27/12/2017 10:59

Watching FlyLady Diane (Diane in Denmark) for tips. Have started to work through old household records but keeping a few years for tax and legal purposes. Shredding is satisfying.

Cagliostro · 27/12/2017 11:57

I need to think of some specific aims for the new year as my overall goal of Being More Organised is too vague and huge and scary.

Have started by getting the lovely new diary (having a nice one really does encourage proper use I find) which DH has already added various things to.

Weight wise, I'm supposed to get Cagletini weighed once a month (although HV said I don't have to worry about it) and I am hoping to weigh myself on the same day using the machine in Boots.

Financially I am on the awesome Frugaleers threads and that helps a lot.

Food is my biggest issue by far and I want to sort that both for organisation and finances! It will be much easier when we move and have a bigger kitchen and fridge freezer but I don't want to just leave it till then IYSWIM.

Housework wise... Fuck knows
