Morning.

Tomorrow is December 1st which means roll call for the fledglings and shiny new thread. It might seem a bit clicky but it is because it is a long term thread, park your arse in the naughty corner for moral support, natter and various delicious goodies. Oh and smidge of housework too.

We follow the flylady system HOWEVER we adapt it to suit the circumstances of our lifes and sometimes we ignore the slightly more fluffy/bonkers babysteps --because we can and there ain't no one the boss of us

Those of you with mlp loving dds, at what age did they appreciate them! Dd is 4 and a half and much to my disappointment not interested. Might it still come or is it just not her cup of tea?

Callmecordelia · 21/12/2017 07:44

She was 6. The MLP obsession started about four months ago.

I am a little sad if replaced the How to train your dragon obsession, but it's not bad.

At four I think she might have liked it, but it wouldn't be the full on love she has now.

Afreshturkeyplease · 21/12/2017 07:56

Ah thats good there is hope yet

Not that i want to play ponies ...

Callmecordelia · 21/12/2017 08:03

I wouldn't give up hope! I think it's just more relevant to her now. There are more friendship groups and tricky situations in the playground in year 2 than there were in reception.

DD plays MLP with a mish mash of horsey toys. She's made all their houses around her room with different bits of Playmobil and Lego, and the mane 6 are a mixture of Playmobil, schleich (sp?) and a treasured twilight sparkle she bought with her pocket money. I don't think I'd be allowed to join in, I might knock over the beautiful scene she has created with Fluttershy's animals or something.

Afreshturkeyplease · 21/12/2017 08:05

Dd does enjoy playmobil and schliech!

I came upstairs to get washing and now am stuck to my bed

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/12/2017 08:13

Lil zoo was around 6 also.i thought we be way out of this by now (just had 10 th birthday)but she has asked enchanted ice palace thingy for xmas....

Afreshturkeyplease · 21/12/2017 08:18

Lovely to hear zoo too many dc are pressured to outgrow toys early i think!

My 9 year old will still play playmobil on occasion although is quite into computers too

Someone kick me off my bed?

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/12/2017 08:43

Nah.its first day of hols.chillax for a bit if you not be driven mad by kuds nagginGrin

Ive made point not giving mine to much tech.ds was given an old xbox 360 18 mnths ago.they get phones once in year6(not exoensive and left downstairs at night) lil zoo got tablet(against my wishes) last birthday as she wanted it.but again nit unlimited time.we only have freeview so they play.books are very popular as are making comics etc(our library has a make your iwn comic club in thursdays)
On many occasions ive been told theyre raised" old school" and took me a long time to work out(thick emoticon)they are be raised way i was to play and use imagination.they love roaming local wildlife areas for insects etc and we often have playmobil and lego out.the girls wrre never huge dolly fans.hated barbies with a passion(whoo hoo.i was a sindy girl myselfSmile)i always said if you pkay and be a kid til youre twenty thats a quarter if exoected life.nit long in scheme of things and plenty time be oldGrin
Dd1 still enjoys her inner child when she sees people with little ones despite her exterior screaming grown up.hoping they are the same(i still dont know what i want to be when i grow up!haha)
Suspect i am waffling....
Anyhoo.cupboard understairs is sorted.i can get two full binbags in (once get chance away from ds2 beady eyes)
Lil zoo has decluttered a rainbow dash toy that does backflip(literally a one trick pony)and a beauty and the beast doll set which one my church friends can recycle to her neighbours young ones

Dreading try declutter front room a bit.here goes.....

Afreshturkeyplease · 21/12/2017 08:50

I am off my bed and i am dressed!

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/12/2017 09:03

foxessocks · 21/12/2017 09:19

afresh think our dc are going through the same sleep regression (hate that word!) type thing?! My was up at 4.30 and went back to sleep at 7 Confused very very frustrating! I refuse to get up at 4.30 though so I put in the night garden on in bed for him (really bad parenting but needs must! Tbf I had tried for an hour to rock, sing and soothe him back to sleep and then I just got the hump!)
Dd slept until 8 luckily so sympathies to you that you had two children up Brew

We have a dancing turkey in our living room which the kids love dancing too. It was very cute the first time...now its driving me bonkers.

Back shortly with a to do list (the day isdisappearing fast and I've achieved nothing!)

Bowerbird5 · 21/12/2017 09:49

Still in mine afresh!

Well had a not so good a night. Been in pain all night. I have slept but dull ache which gets worse at times. I have appointment at 11:30 😳 I lay thinking in the night what I was going to say when told no appointments left. Can't believe and relieved I got one. Something is definitely not right. Think it might be trip to hospital for a scan. Feeling sick too. Just had scrambled egg last night.
Going to get up and plan to wrap three outstanding presents and write two cards. Will need to look for wedding card too. Bet I miss that now. Think I will put other decorations back in shed and give DD something to do when she comes tomorrow. That way it will look tidy in kitchen if I can manage to wash floor.
Need to ring butcher as not sure if I will get there today. Not sure how I will feel driving and how things will pan out. Must pack something to do. Wonders if needle-felting would be allowed as have two blue tits to make. Those needles would be good pointy sticks to move people out of bed, off chaise longe out of haughty, naughty corner and back to flying.
Will up date when I return.

Some people already flying. Great work. I have under stair cupboard envy. Three sons all have one. One small other two stand up , long narrow cupboards with shelving. We have computer desk tucked under ours. If we made cupboard there it would make dining room smaller and it is small enough as through room. Table one end then opposite the oak bedding chest of MILs full of ? Material? And computer desk and chair adjacent.

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/12/2017 11:34

Hope gp app gets you sorted bower

Ive just trailed zoolets to shop bickering all the way(dd2 starting all)got back n electric went off.ask dd2 get to cuoboard activate emergency.ww3 erupted.its nit a big space n my bscks fallen out with me so i dont want be squeezing diwb there.shes bit rounded but smaller iyswim.she was effing n jeffing throwing stuff thats" in her way"

Afreshturkeyplease · 21/12/2017 12:31

Sympathies on stroppy dc zoo. Dd has just had hissy fit over lunch. I ask if she wants sandwich or pizza. She asks what kind of pizza. I tell her. She asks can she have fries with it. I tell her yes, do you want pizza then? She says no a sandwich. Eats said sandwich then starts with where are my fries you said i could have fries. Epic paddy and has been advised to go sleep it off

foxessocks · 21/12/2017 12:54

afresh honestly your kids sound exactly like mine at the moment! My ds has been awake 4-7 for two mornings in a row. My dd has been so unbelievably rude this week and has so far had bed time stories reduced, advent calendar chocolates taken away and no jelly pot from the supermarket - I'm running out of threats!!! Oh and no tv yesterday.

Luckily she has been a little better today so hopefully just a blip!?

Sympathies on your grumpy dc too zoo

Ta das
More food shopping! And got my mum a birthday present
Daily routine
Made lunch for me and dd

To do
Dust bedroom
Declutter in bedroom (finish wrapping dh presents to get them out of the way!)
Swish and swipe bathroom
Extra Christmas tidying whatever I can be bothered with!!! Feel like I need to be doing more than I actually am this week, there's being laid back about it and then there's being plain can't be arsed!

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/12/2017 15:14

zoo no idea how long until they go back. Ds hasn't even finished for Christmas yet, and when he does he will be banished to his room/vegging in front of the tv for a couple of PJ days until he becomes civilized again or until he goes to his dad's

Sorry that everyone's Children are so twitchy/grumpy/stressy/excited/non-sleeping atm. Fingers crossed for you all that it will settle/calm down soon.

I survived the motorway chaos and got to the wool shop. Picked up the planned for yarn ds needed and an extra. Which means ds can give his present and I can put in the contrast heels and toes of the pair that I am making before Christmas. Win-win imo WinkGrin

Currently sitting in bed with hot water bottle waiting for some pain killers to kick in. I hit my funny bone earlier and I have shooting pains in my hand atm. Hmm Will settle with a bit of rest so about boxing day then and anti-inflammatorys which I can't take until later so not too worried but it is a PITA.

Hope your appointment goes well Bower and that you can see an end to the pain. Our hospital is not keen on even knitting needles so I suspect security would faint at needle felting needles Grin

Hope you feel better soon hills and manage some rest.

Ta das
Dusted bedroom
Wrapped a few more presents
Took a few random things out of the spare room
Emptied all the bins

We have a huge pile of coats in the spare room which have been there for months while we decorate the porch. I need to move them for visitors but the porch still isn't done. where can I hide a lot of coats until after xmas?! Am thinking the car boot!

Afreshturkeyplease · 21/12/2017 16:49

Do you need the coats? Can some be kept in bedrooms? We keep out of season coats in our bedrooms on back of door/in wardrobe/vac packed under beds. With 6 of us we cannot keep all the coats and bags in the hall and its a decent sized hall!

Cagliostro · 21/12/2017 18:20

Ah zoo I must admit your DD2 sounds quite similar to what my eldest can be like. Her Christmas present comments really resonate. DD asks obsessively, repeating the same question over and over as if she'd never heard the answer. It's anxiety based IMHO, I hate it when she says it in front of others as she frankly comes across as a spoilt brat. I have to tell her she is starting to sound like Dudley Dursley! But actually she is so happy with any present she just struggles with unknowns and unpredictability so much.

I'm sorry about the social issues too, I am pretty sure that's how secondary school would go for her TBH. I know it's a few days since you asked but it sounds very much like the struggles your DD2 is having are similar to how a girl with ASD might struggle in the teen years. Not to say she is of course, as lots of people have a few traits without it being a diagnosable thing (and these other girls do sound particularly spiteful which must be making it worse) but if it's getting to the point where she's having so much difficulty in daily life and is so upset, it may be worth seeing if she can be referred to a pediatrician just to talk it over Thanks

Caglets had their appts today. Melatonin break of 1-2 weeks straight after Christmas. Got a form to get filled in about DS by someone, and he may end up getting a camhs referral to assess for adhd.

We then got a few bits in Morrisons so my parents present (little selection of yummy things) is done.
