Fledglings fly into December to party hard.

Morning.

Tomorrow is December 1st which means roll call for the fledglings and shiny new thread. It might seem a bit clicky but it is because it is a long term thread, park your arse in the naughty corner for moral support, natter and various delicious goodies. Oh and smidge of housework too.

We follow the flylady system HOWEVER we adapt it to suit the circumstances of our lifes and sometimes we ignore the slightly more fluffy/bonkers babysteps --because we can and there ain't no one the boss of us

We did stop in the middle but it was literally two minutes rest on a bench after shopping and then I felt ready for the walk back uphill. Quite amazed.

Stilllivinginazoo · 08/12/2017 21:17

Yay cag kiki delivery per chance bloody love that film

Ive eaten stash cheese sarnys after drop n pivk up girls from choir
Ds n i watch documetary about a baby pandas first year n having cuddles on sofa with blankie

Cagliostro · 08/12/2017 22:22

Yup that's the one it's a big favorite here. My colleague once brought me a Jiji plushie back from Japan. Also saw the play of it in London this year, quite different from the film but it was awesome

I should take baby to bed but can't be bothered to move.

At least I had a reasonable dinner tonight with lots of veg. By recent standards anyway. My eating habits have totally gone to shit in the last few weeks. It was going well until the gallbladder thing happened and then I just got so anxious because all the advice was so conflicting. It turns out it's pretty much fine (touches wood - no more attacks since the first two) but I've just got myself in a mess, that plus tiredness plus OMGyayIcaneatcarbsagain has really messed me up. I know I should go easy on myself really as I'm still only six weeks postpartum but I'm also worried I will put on all the weight I lost!

Bowerbird5 · 09/12/2017 07:49

Hi everyone,
Well that was a busy week and I don't mean flying!

Zoo hope you feel a little better today. I 've been thinking about my mum and dad think it is remembering those Christmases and food. Made the kids at school White Christmas can remember making that with mum.need to make Christmas Cake (still) and wishing I had her recipe. One off the internet wasn't as good though from same magazine. Friend thought too sweet too as I had made it twice for him. Wonder if cousin has recipe. Need to learn to Skype.
Cags don't be so hard on yourself. You have the most important job at the moment.
I think someone has sent all those elves around to wreck my house. What a state it is in. I was thinking of going to Edinburgh Christmas market but looking around I think I need to stay here for " home bleugh"
I woke up feeling hype and it has gone already and I feel tired. Must have been having weird dream. My legs ache. Must check out bruises where 5 yo kicked me yesterday. Feet too he stamped on them! Spent lunch time with two behaviourals trying to help/ calm them down. First I thought had hurt himself as screaming like a broken arm or something second I was sent for( about to have my lunch) and once I had him where I could speak to him gave me a lot of abuse and told he could do what he liked and i couldn't touch Him! He discovered I could and I would. Eventually calmed down and went to class though I heard he walked out later. I had no lunch again and straight into teaching. Bless them sitting waiting for me on the carpet. Love that class. Going to treat them next week. Hadn't even had time to set up tables for art but we had a lovely afternoon.
Had lovely meal with ladies from church on Thursday mm beef was beautiful. Horrible sleety snow so especially yummy as slow cooked in wine mmm could eat it now!
Don't know which room to start on. Looking at the mess in here from bed. Washing on floor. Dusty bedside table pile of books fallen over next to it. Clean washing pile to put away clutter on chest. Jacket on mirror not put back in wardrobe( where I came in a little tipsy from 2 large glasses of wine on Thursday) and a pair of shoes and two pairs of boots scattered on floor. Must have been those bloody elves from the shelves last night. Hides under covers.

Callmecordelia · 09/12/2017 07:57

Bower, it sounds like you are having a tough time. Flowers

You might find this useful, I made this Christmas cake this year - it smells amazing, and it was so easy. www.nigella.com/recipes/easy-action-christmas-cake

I didn't even bother soaking and weighing my own fruit. I bought a pack of pre soaked fruit from Waitrose Blush. Easiest Christmas cake ever.

Bowerbird5 · 09/12/2017 09:17

It seems to be my role at the moment. It has been for a long time but I'm feeling it due to my age. I'm good at de-escalating them ( apparently) and so I get called upon but sometimes I would just like my lunch. I was hungry at 2pm as I hadn't had any breakfast. No one thinks to say would you like 5 minutes to stuff a sarni in your mouth. Unfortunately I had bread for toast so I couldn't even eat it in the classroom.

That cake sounds lovely and I have all the ingredients ( hoping I have the rum) I'll give it a go, thank you. Mums was a Golden Christmas cake. It had ginger and pineapple, sultanas, cherries and light brown sugar so was light and spicy. I had a homemade cookbook when I was first married and unfortunately it was stuck on the outside and came off in a move. Always regret not sticking it inside the book as I still have the book. I couldn't afford a cookbook at the time so stuck recipes from newspapers and magazines into a hard backed exercise book. Has some great ones in there😃
I fell back asleep so really ought to get up. Would love to go to Edinburgh I heard the market was lovely but I think a quiet day at home might be a better idea learning my songs as I "Home Bleugh." Concert tomorrow!

Bowerbird5 · 09/12/2017 09:21

If I soak it the smell will waft around the house and we don't have Waitrose up here. I didn't even know you could buy such a thing. I was in Dunelm the other day for knitting needles and I stood looking at all the kitchen gadgets on the wall. I didn't even know what half of them were for...made me feel old! I only bought a cake sheet. I have seen them and thought what a brilliant idea. Wish I had thought of it! They were £2.50 well I had to have one at that price, didn't I?

Cagliostro · 09/12/2017 11:53

I don't even know what a cake sheet is let alone anything else :o off to Google...

I haven't got up yet. Had a decent sleep as baby went about 4.5hrs then another couple after a feed. I've been looking at my fave birthday present, a board game, and watching catch up on the iPad. I also finally sorted the Moses basket with sheets (it was being used for storing her clothes until I sorted them the other day Blush) so she's having a little wriggle in there. Hopefully I can start getting her in there for at least one stint each night. I do love sleeping with her but also miss DH!

Should attempt getting downstairs but super achy.

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/12/2017 16:09

Off to check thread i started asking fir favourute board games(and those that are hated)
Toodle pip

Cagliostro · 09/12/2017 17:29

I think you mean someone else re the cake I don't like Christmas cake Grin wish I could bake though.

Definitely having family fun today as we tried my new board game Dice Forge. It's brilliant even though I didn't win Xmas Wink somehow have lost a piece though ironically despite not using that piece. It was in the box earlier FFS

We got nothing else done though. Except endless investigating of maps and bus info as many of the houses now coming up on the council list are in a new development but we need to work out if public transport is good enough as we don't drive and if we end up unable to get out much it will be a big problem

Bowerbird5 · 09/12/2017 23:22

I try but sometimes it causes me stress.
Hi well those plans I had disappeared. DH decided to send a card to his cousin in NZ. So we went to town to post it. Firstly I got up late and we had a scrummy cooked breakfast. I made a couple of cards with some of last years stuff and so DH wrote his ( I used to do all) and I did mine. So off to town for first time in six months other than work.Cards despatched to various countries, had my watch fixed ( I have about five but couldn't find others) new battery and new band, some shopping. Bought another toadstool collection for window so I have three now. Bought a dress for tomorrow not convinced I will keep it but only £31.50 in sale, black lace for choir ( never had a lace dress before).Bracelet for £9.50 which will be present for someone. Looked for stamps for card project act school. I bought some new roasting trays inM&S because one of ours looks ropey. £12.50 if any one needs them. Three trays I thought one for lurked, one for pigs in b's and one for stuffing. New tights.. DH bought some new trousers . So it was quite productive even though I didn't get Bleugh done. I did bathroom when home and one lot of washing picked up rest and threw into washingbasket. Local butcher started selling beef 2xsirloin for £12.50 on Fridays. So we had those for a treat and it was lovely and tender.
Bloody hell I have severe cramp in my thigh!
Does anyone have one of those cricut machines? I am curious about them. I need a nativity silhouette for cards..

MercuryRising · 09/12/2017 23:58

Hi all. Busy day today. Went Christmas shopping for 3 hours with dd. Followed by food shopping. Home bleurgh (except bathroom) and 2 loads of washing completed on the flying front.
Tomorrow morning I need to work my way through a huge pile of ironing before sil and family arrive for dinner. I also need to try to find some festive cookie cutters as I have promised the dc we can make some salt dough decorations.

Bowerbird5 · 10/12/2017 01:38

Oooh! We're all in crafty mode Mercury.
Turkey not lurked. Three trays for £12.50

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/12/2017 08:24

Ive been drag out of bed at silly oclick to admire 4inches if snow and a blizzard a blowin...apparently dd2 nay explode if we dont go out in it shortlyGrin

Cagliostro · 10/12/2017 09:26

Hills I have a question if I may! We forgot DD’s melatonin last night as my phone died so no alarm. I realised 90 minutes later but decided to see what happened. She was definitely more anxious and wired. I know we are supposed to take a break from it though and I was wondering how long are the breaks supposed to be? I suppose we could try and get it out the way before Christmas Eve but I’m also scared that her anxiety will really set back in.

Zoo all I saw on Threads I’m On was “Ive been drag out of bed at silly oclick to admire 4inches” Blush :o

Bower sounds like a productive day in town, are those roasting trays on a temporary offer or is it a permanent price do you know? We do need some at some point.

Baby is downstairs with the others, I don’t quite feel sleepy enough to waste the morning away so I’m just having a rest by myself then will head downstairs earlier than yesterday. Getting up to feed her properly at 3am definitely paid off - changed her to wake her up so she had both sides, and she then slept longer. At 6am I didn’t bother and she then was on and off for ages. So I need to force myself every time I think.

I think she is actually in more of a routine than we are. She is pretty regular with the times she goes to sleep in the evening and it’s actually me who isn’t playing ball! I really need to get to bed with her earlier (which is another reason I am worried about pausing the melatonin - how will DD1 manage if I’m asleep).

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/12/2017 10:06

That doesn't surprise me. Ds took his 100 nights before he had his first break on the 1 hit release version. Personally I wouldn't worry about a break until feb half term for the 1st break. I try not to give ds a break around Christmas because that is when his stress levels get highest and he needs the melatonin the most. With your DD I suspect she has associated behaviour (ie her experiences of the past are not letting her believe it will be ok) I would probably do 1 or 2 night breaks to start and build up to the full week. I also forgot ds' melatonin last night he was up to 3am Hmm thankfully he is currently asleep. But tomo morning is going to hurt.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 10/12/2017 18:47

Busy few days here! Xmas events went well and actually my parents’ visits was one of the best yet, even though DD2 was a challenge she also had her comedic timing on and was very well behaved at other points.

I am sooo tired. Big wing flaps to all.

Sludgecolours · 10/12/2017 18:50

Hey all. Hope you are surviving pre-Christmas madness!

"Focus on one thing at a time" [SC looks at own words and starts cackling hysterically]. Someone please administer either (a) a sharp slap on the cheek or (b) copious amounts of Gin.

There is still time though isn't there.... isn't there....? [wibbles]

Sludgecolours · 10/12/2017 19:06

Afreshturkeyplease · 10/12/2017 19:30

Well i am now officially unemployed/SAHM! Feels weird. Ive pretty much worked from being 17 with the exceptions of maternity leave!

Have had several christmas related events recently which all went well. Dc have 9 days of school left. I have wrapped about 10 presents out of around 3 million....Still need to buy for dp and extended family.

House is a tip. We have snow. Dc had snow day friday so long weekend of them all here. Baby is sick AGAIN. He isnt sleeping. Im not sleeping.

Think my new years resoloution may be to follow the flight plan ....

Cagliostro · 10/12/2017 19:51

Sorry you're feeling rough hills and thank you for the advice on melatonin!

Once again I feel I have achieved nothing. We went to DD's ballroom thing and walked both ways. Going to attempt a wash. Funny how a nappy leak will inspire you to daily laundry but at least it keeps the routine going I guess!

I will get the Caglets to put the washing up away again. They've done it a few times this week now. Dare I admit it's actually just creating a job for them really as we usually don't bother doing it at all and just use stuff straight off the draining board Xmas Blush but it does look nicer when it's done and I want the Caglets to get used to doing more to help.

This place is such a tip and how many sleeps is it till Christmas... Xmas Sad
