Morning.

Tomorrow is December 1st which means roll call for the fledglings and shiny new thread. It might seem a bit clicky but it is because it is a long term thread, park your arse in the naughty corner for moral support, natter and various delicious goodies. Oh and smidge of housework too.

We follow the flylady system HOWEVER we adapt it to suit the circumstances of our lifes and sometimes we ignore the slightly more fluffy/bonkers babysteps --because we can and there ain't no one the boss of us

Just trying to prise myself out of bed.
Posting abroad dates reminder.
Wonders what today will bring. Every day I go to work my timetable has changed at the moment. Sometimes not for the better.
Have lovely lunch.just remembered going out with ladies from church. I should have thought about that yesterday. Not much flying today...wonders if any spice biscuits left mmmm!
Have a good day everyone.

foxessocks · 07/12/2017 07:44

Happy birthday cag!

Day one of no washing machine and laundry pile already over flowing

Good news ds woke up at a very reasonable 7am. Bad news he is utterly miserable and has been crying since he got up Sad

Longtime · 07/12/2017 08:27

Happy birthday Cag! Hope everyone and all dcs are well today. Ds2 sent me a message to say he had taken his first sick day off work (he started in May last year). He’s not sure if it’s a bug or food poisoning. Hopefully the latter.

Good luck to your dd for her exams sc and I’m impressed with her independent studying/lunch making. How are the building works coming along?

To do
Books
Stats
Dutch homework
Folded washing away
Put out washing currently in machine
Dishes in dishwasher
Visit my bil who lives 45 mins away to continue to sort out his situation

It’ll be the latter that takes up my afternoon. He has no heating so I’ll be wearing tights under my jeans and a big jumper!

Sludgecolours · 07/12/2017 08:40

Building work going ok thanks Longtime after initial difficulties. But three different chaps working on it (brickie, plumber, electrician) who are independent from one another and for whom this is a small job, so they tend to squeeze me in between other jobs, and it's all dragging out as a result!

Keep warm at your bil's! Must be awful with no heating ATM. You definitely deserve Halo!

Sludgecolours · 07/12/2017 08:43

Just been out for quick dog walk and there are Catalonians in caravans parked all over the place!! Some sort of demonstration going on here today I think!

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/12/2017 09:19

Happy Birthday Cag

I will be back with the links. This morning has started with all levels of fail and my temper is not in a place to computer wrestle until I can drop a book at school for ds that I have found that he was looking for.
But i am behind on laundry and clothes to wear is an issue. really is one of those mornings. Sad

Links will be up in about half hour

Ta da
Got ds to sleep in his bed for a nap!
Cleaned the oven (next time I'm getting a professional in , took me so long and it still isn't perfect Angry)
Took all the rubbish out

To do
Daily routine
Declutter in kitchen
Clean kitchen sink
Swish and swipe toilet
Errands day - go into town to return a Xmas present that doesn't work (good job we tried it before wrapping!), buy dd friend a birthday present

And if I can fit in any cake making or Christmas card writing then that would be good.

hills honestly laundry really does my head in. Where does it all come from?! I hope dh can fix the washing machine, it has broken many times already this year so maybe we should just call it a day!!

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/12/2017 10:45

Thank you very much @MNHQ

Cake Happy birthday Cagliostro I hope you are having a lovely day! Cake

Had a rather frustrating evening/morning with DD not saying what she would like to do about a situation. As usual, any attempt to get information out of her was stonewalled so I've had to engage my psychic abilities to guess what she wants. She left for school unhappy and I've been crying off and on for most of the morning Blush Why is it that hard to answer a question? And if she'd followed my suggestion months ago, the situation wouldn't even have arisen Sad It's not even worth all this drama, it's just the same thing happening repeatedly that is getting me down Blush

No flying done today - yet - still time to pull the day around.

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/12/2017 13:43

Hang in there cotswold.

I am trying to make gluten free scones with rice flour but the quantities are baffling me 5tsp baking powder and 50g oil Confused fingers crossed they turn out edible!

Sludgecolours · 07/12/2017 14:06

Poor you Cotswold I recognise that scenario ... have a nip of mother's ruin Gin Wink

Sorry your ds2 is ill Longtime (missed that earlier on). Here's hoping it's a 24 HR thing.

Think you are a saint to do oven cleaning when your D's has been ill Foxes bloomin' well done.

Hope the scones rise Hills!

Chopping veg here (veggie Thursday)

foxessocks · 07/12/2017 14:58

Has anyone got any tips for cleaning the glass front of an oven? It is really hard grease stains can't get them off I tried vinegar and mr muscle glass spray...

Ta da
All the bits in town
Attempted to clean glass in oven
Dishwasher on
Dh has peered at the washing machine and said he may be able to get it to work until Xmas! ...

To do
Finish daily routine
Swish and swipe toilet
Kitchen declutter
Kitchen sink
Make dinner (meditarranean chicken)

Callmecordelia · 07/12/2017 15:00

Apparently a dishwasher tablet is good for a glass oven door. You rub it over I think.

Sludgecolours · 07/12/2017 15:15

I had to use one of those metallicky soap infused sponge things last time I did the oven door Foxes ...baked on duck fat splatter!

Had to do it very carefully so as not to scratch the glass so got it soapy and left it on for a while before cleaning off ifyswim.

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/12/2017 16:25

scones were a flop a weird too lemony soapy taste.I have a few theories -1 should have followed actual instructions for the lemon juice component rather than thinking from a bottle and guess would work. Also 5 teaspoons of baking powder? yeah not needed and probably the cause of the soap taste. Plus the dam things don't rise that much so really? 5 tsp?! I reckon 2-3 would be more than enough and still verging on overkill.
Might try another adapted batch after christmas CBA before.

foxessocks · 07/12/2017 17:23

Thanks for the tips! Will give them a try.

I've done my list and the washing machine is fixed hooray! Ds still v grumpy but he's getting better.

That does sound a lot of baking powder hills but what do I know?!? Not much about making any kind of scone that's for sure. I did make cheese scones onces but it was a long time ago!

foxessocks · 07/12/2017 17:24

Unsurprisingly I didn't get the cakes made or any more Christmas cards written.

Sludgecolours · 07/12/2017 17:32

Hills I have a friend who eats gluten free food who cpvisits fairly often, so I have been expanding my gluten free repertoire of late. Tbh I have found most gluten free baking recipes that use rice or chickpea flour to come out (a) flat and heavy as a brick or (b) taste yuck because of the amount of raising agents required (but that just could be my baking skills! Grin). I think recipes that are not so flour dependent are a better bet tbh. Will dig some out in a bit!

Callmecordelia · 07/12/2017 18:22

I agree SC. My favourite gluten free bake happens to be quite seasonal, Nigella's Clementine Cake. You do need a food processor, and I cook the clementines in a slow cooker because I cba to watch a hob. Recipe is here - www.nigella.com/recipes/clementine-cake

Ta dah
Christmas cards nearly finished
Got DH to wrap half of the Christmas presents
Started to cut out DD's Christmas skirt
1 load of washing
2 loads of drying for a friend
Cooked dinner and pudding for all

As DH's day off is our weekend equivalent, I don't feel too bad about lack of housework there.

HillsBesideTheSea · 07/12/2017 19:06

Yeah I can't have gluten free flour. I am allergic to potato Blush So it is rice flour or no flour

Happy birthday Cag SmileFlowers! I am very behind with the thread and very busy so will just give some big wing flaps to all and will be back on tomorrow.

Cagliostro · 07/12/2017 20:59

Thank you lovely fledglings! I had a great day, the trampoline park was amazing so will definitely go back. I have done some token flying by putting a wash on thanks to some nappy incidents Hmm :o

I also did a bit of finance admin and am now more confident with the sling as a friend showed me how to use it properly so that will make a huge difference day to day.

Just watching Ernest et Celestine with the Caglets, on that topic sc & longtime can you recommend any animated films from your neck of the woods please? I love foreign animation but most of what I hear about here is French and I want to explore more.

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/12/2017 21:29
