If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and Wine and Cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it November already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore the barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to the emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here!.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

Good morning all (SC faffs around naughty/haughty corner, fluffing up cushions, putting whistling kettle on hob, laying out trays of Danish pastries for all Fledglings to help themselves)... .

Calm before the storm here. Builders arriving in 20 mins. (Whimpers). Good news is that DD feels well enough to go to school (despite coughing all night poor thing).

Morning! I’ve lost track with the thread, dd2 is poorly - I’m not quite sure what’s wrong, waking up and staying awake between 11-12 until 4ish, running a temperature. I’m presuming it’s a virus or teeth, she is showing no other symptoms apart from being quieter than usual, poor baby. I also have a wedding this weekend, which we are away for so hardly any flying done lately, just shopping, suit fittings, dress shopping etc.

To do
Basic routines
Food shop
Buy advent calendars
Pick up suits
Ds hair cut
Dd1 dentist
Ds final suit fitting .....(hopefully the final one ! )

Callmecordelia · 28/11/2017 06:56

I don't think the weekly home bleugh works for me. I've tried doing it two weeks running, and I just can't get it to fit in with how I do things. I only have when DS is asleep, so I can't vacuum upstairs, and his toys are all over the living room floor. I gave the bathrooms a clean instead and tidied the kitchen. I think I'll try and spread the "blessings" through the week.

To do
Washing
Christmas cards
Tax return

All things I have put on to do lists earlier in the thread. Perhaps I should have one of those naughty pastries and relax on the cushions.

foxessocks · 28/11/2017 08:07

Morning all. Thanks for the suggestions as to where my driving licence is. I went through the toy box yesterday but not there, need to check all of dds little bags and purses. Somebody (sorry cant scroll back on phone) suggested the bin and that is a very high possibility as my 1 yo has just discovered the bin but he does prefer to take things out...

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/11/2017 08:15

Ds is trying to convince me he is ill enough to be off school today. He is not. He is also not happy about it Not doing anything to help my motivation today. Can I go back to bed?

Afternoon all. Have been house cleaning over the last week or so (off and on) mainly down to impending visitors who keep cancelling I suppose the positive out of this is that the house will be nice for Christmas AND I've already made a resolution to de-flake my life in 2018. Flaky friends and family must go! I may have to leave my own life ...

School continue to send home requests for items in the last few weeks of school. I now dread the sight of DD coming out of her classroom clutching a sheet of A4 with some item of food/clothing/money to add to my to-do list.

IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying · 28/11/2017 17:25

Hi all

Still lurking and gaining inspiration from you all.

Today I had a flurry of cleaning and the house smells of zoflora which the dcs noticed when they came in. The dog probably thinks visitors are arriving imminently because that is usually the trigger for a frenzy.

MIL arrives on Friday so it will be good to be ahead as I am back at work tomorrow.

The dcs are under instruction to tidy and clean their rooms before Friday, and turf out redundant stuff including old clothes or no advent calendars will be forthcoming.

IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying · 28/11/2017 17:27

Cotswold

My visitors cancelled too but were swiftly replaced by another lot. I think I’ll open a B and B and be done with it.

Bowerbird5 · 28/11/2017 19:32

Callme I wrote the Home Bleugh into my book in achievable tasks this way I can attempt to complete the tasks. It doesn't always work but gives me something to aim for. Give it a try.

Cagliostro · 28/11/2017 20:19

I haven't really achieved much today other than survive several hours out of the house. Baby very grumpy while we were at tap class and I ended up feeding her at macdonalds on the way home #classy :o (good excuse for cheese dippers) I am now stuck under her for the evening, caglets sorted the drying but I haven't put a wash on yet (I prefer to load it myself so as not to overfill etc although DD can do the rest)

I am giving my boobs their own ta da list Blush:
✅get Cagletini to 8lb 14oz! 9th centile at birth and now on 25th! YAY! Star :o

Hello everyone, sorry have been AWOL lately as doing a bit of extra work before Xmas. Hopefully will get a bit of money to help towards Christmas and it means I can work a bit less over Christmas and New Year.

zoo, sounds as if you have done a fab job at sorting out a costume so quickly.

Currently sewing on badges for DD1 which are needed for tomorrow. I am soooo slow. Ugh.
