If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and Wine and Cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it November already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore the barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to the emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here!.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

Placemarking. Only have one more thing on dm’s list but we are visiting family tomorrow so need to squeeze it in somewhere. Also been appallingly bad at catching up with Dutch (missed last lesson and have a presentation to write and learn). I need every day to be anti-procrastination day and every month to be paper decluttering I think! Waves to everyone new and old!

CotswoldStrife · 31/10/2017 23:28

Evening all, just landing the broomstick for a quick visit Halloween Smile

Halloween went well here, DD enjoyed handing out our sweets (which ran out in record time this year) and we then headed out for an hour ourselves to fill her bucket.

Did some baking today which was nice, been ages since I made fairy cakes and I have craft class tomorrow morning which I will go to, it does improve my mood!

New month, new start - looking forward to it as usual Grin

Cagliostro · 01/11/2017 05:42

Morning folks. Got a decent stretch of sleep thanks to DD2 sleeping over 4hrs between feeds (in the crook of my arm but I'm calling it a win).

Lots of little things that we should really get done today. Mayhem is taking over the living room. Tasks include putting all our clothes away (Caglets have been doing theirs), sorting various baby clothes into ages, gathering changing stuff together, errrm unpacking hospital bags 😳😳😳

Meeting friends today too - don't feel up to having anyone over yet but there's a HE thing at the library (my DCs don't do it) so meeting the mums at the cafe for hot chocolate and hugs. So will make sure the Caglets get their jobs done before we leave (we got back to maths/spellings yesterday, not planning much more than that just yet but it's something and gives them a bit of a routine).

Aaargh I'm hungry!

Have fun on your outing Cag! 4 hr stretch of sleep not half bad so early on; very obliging of Cagletini Smile

Cheery wing flaps to Zoo Cotswold and Longtime and to everyone else!

All systems go here! Off to early Mass (Feast of All Souls) - will be thinking of you and your family Foxes x

Then a bit of tidying/packing/driving off to wreck2 (where I hope the Internet connection will be behaving itself) to meet up with builders who are insisting on working despite it being a public holiday here. Picking up a friend of dd's on the way.

Won't be back until much later, but in the meantime, hope everyone has a productive first day of the month!

Sludgecolours · 01/11/2017 06:54

Oops - sorry- reverted to Halloween there temporarily by mistake!

Sorry for confusion!

Good morning all. Long time lurker over here, I'm a perfectionist and want everything perfect now but also a procrastinator so either nothing gets done or it's not a good enough effort and I stop. I really want to stay focused and stick at it making it a habit this time. Checking the thread daily for motivation would be a start!

foxessocks · 01/11/2017 07:46

Morning to all the new people!
Morning to everyone else!

Just place marking for now.

JingsMahBucket · 01/11/2017 07:47

Hello. May I join please? OH and I are trying to declutter and settle the house after a long period of both us being away.

JingsMahBucket · 01/11/2017 07:49

@JustOneMoreCoffee I'm just like you. I also get overwhelmed by stuff and how to organize it.

FlyingJellyfishInTheAttic · 01/11/2017 08:19

Thank you for the new thread and thank you for the old one too!

DD is in nursery this morning so I'm going shopping for a couple of hours to pick up bits for Xmas (and whilst I'm proud of what I got done I don't want to burn out so taking some time for me will make me more productive).

I have made so much headway with living and dining room just table in dining room to clear now. I didn't finish my lists for either room but I still did way more than I thought I would and the rooms are functional and we can find things. I can make them look pretty another day.

I need to tidy landing for tomorrow when the builders come over and put away clothes so will do that when DD home as we can watch a DVD in master bedroom and I can do little jobs around her.

Kitchen and bathroom were also on my list but did loads of kitchen last week (and kitchen is DH job as our set up is he looks after kitchen and garden inc food shop and I look after rest of house). Bathroom very little in there. DH is taking the kids swimming tomorrow so I can do little bits whilst they are out.

So end of week hopefully majority of living room and dining room finished, bathroom and kitchen the same and a plan for the attic to be done as well as majority of xmas shopping done.

Cagliostro · 01/11/2017 08:28

Aah nice busy thread! Welcome all!

Just I am exactly the same with the delightful combo of perfectionism and procrastination. It is so frustrating. Flylady has been so helpful with it though as I am gradually learning to just DO something, rather than thinking it is pointless because it won't be enough.

Only just woke up but with a very sore neck thanks to the position DD2 slept in. Yay.

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/11/2017 10:42

foxessocks · 01/11/2017 10:45

ta das
some daily routine
got some bags from the porch sorted and WILL take to the recycling bins when I pick up dd later - that is as much porch decluttering as I can do at the moment since dh is in the process of redecorating it there isn't much I can do in there...
attempted a baby group but it was cancelled so then had to put a screaming ds back in the car but the plus side was he fell asleep on the way back and have successfully transferred him to his bed - a win!

to do
swish and swipe toilet
finish daily routine

Lelly78 · 01/11/2017 10:51

Right I have cleaned the porch and wiped the walls and skirting in the hall so feeling productive :) I only really have Wednesday and Thursday to do extra jobs so trying to be as productive as possible.

Thanks for the welcome!

HillsBesideTheSea · 01/11/2017 13:19

Still feel like crap but feel well enough to be bothered to go out of the house so will ring doc in a bit.

Cagliostro · 01/11/2017 13:22

Home after a nice trip out to meet friends :) managed a feed while there (although I went into the empty children's library to do it) so feeling a bit more confident now. Was then surrounded by friends and kids but she was comfortably feeding by then and not showing anything IYSWIM (nursing tops for the win!)

So glad DD slept in her bed for a bit seacow that's awesome!

Cagliostro · 01/11/2017 13:23

Bugger, wrong thread!!! Ignore the last bit! 😂😂😂
