If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and Wine and Cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it November already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore the barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to the emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here!.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

Bower, what a shame about your country living show. Great news on amount of money raised zoo Sad. Big wing flaps to everyone else. Was working all day yesterday so no flying but hoping to get back on it today. Both DDs grumpy this morning Confused so hoping to leave on time for school run to reduce / contain the grumpiness slightly!

Sludgecolours · 27/11/2017 08:55

Ooh I missed that about your fund-raising Zoo many congrats indeed!

(Sorry, barely keeping up with thread properly this month!)

All very grumpy here too Toostressy. It is very very dull and raining here. Furry stuck his nose out of front door and turned around and went straight back to his bed Smile which leaves me more time to do home bleugh - oh joy - strong coffee and large pointy stuck required I think.

Cagliostro · 27/11/2017 12:52

Morning all. Tired today but quite pleased as I managed to get Cagletini to actually sleep on her back rather than propped up on my arm. I've adjusted her sleeping bag as it was too big round the arms and I was worried about her either slipping inside it or rolling off my arm and covering her face etc. Anxiety central so I need to get her sleeping on her back next to me instead. Maybe one day she will sleep in her Moses basket before she outgrows it #hollowlaugh

We also went to bed at 9 and managed a little more sleep overall. I managed to order more presents and a sling that I hope will suit me better than the ones I've tried from friends - stretchy slip on rather than wrapping and knotting, and both shoulders rather than one taking the weight.

Felt more human today so put a wash on (cushions... yesterday there was a salsa incident...) I did spelling and maths and we all pitched in tidying up the living room. I've also started sorting the change bag and buggy.

Got an hour until friends arrive (haircut and play date) need to get dressed sort bathroom and eat lunch!

foxessocks · 27/11/2017 14:07

cag that is an amazing amount acheived with such a small baby! Hats off to you. How is your health now I'm afraid I haven't kept up very well recently.

Here's a question - if your 3 year old and / or 1 year old had got hold of your purse and removed a driving licence - where do you think they might put it?! (I wasn't allowed to buy a bottle of wine in the supermarket today!)

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 27/11/2017 14:30

foxes, I wish I had the answer. I had a similar issue and never found it. Had to replace it (surprisingly easy online).

HillsBesideTheSea · 27/11/2017 15:14

DVD player, the smallest tiniest cracks usually between floor boards so it disappears into dark and treatous depths of darkness

not got much done today but did get a pair of work boots for wearing with skirt and tights. Heels a bit higher than i wanted (or have had in years) but the fit was ok which is a minor miracle so I got them on the basis the price was right, the fit was ok and I can learn to walk in high high heels again for around the office.

Just waiting to hear if car be dead or resucable and considering if I cba to do ought.

Afreshstartplease · 27/11/2017 16:35

foxes if your 1 year old anything like mine in the bin, and if your 3 year old is like my 4 year old it will be in a bag or purse of hers

Sludgecolours · 27/11/2017 17:17

Cagliostro · 27/11/2017 22:45

Thanks foxes health is odd at the mo - totally thrown by the whole gallbladder thing as it's made me really anxious all the time about what I can eat or if I'll be in pain etc, yet I'm actually doing OK really. :)

Hi all - sorry these links are so late - fell asleep earlier!

The summary for Tues 28th is available on the Flylady website here under "Today" and via the flight plan which should update itself automatically on a daily basis.

Baby-step no. 28 for Tues 28th is here. Taking care of ourselves: drinking water, eating well, taking regular breaks and getting enough sleep.

We are in Zone 5 this week: The Living Room, Den, Family Room (November 26-30) here.

Spend 15 mins decluttering the current zone.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list for Zone 5 (if you are at that stage) is here.

Tuesday's mission is here. Spend 15 mins getting rid of anything that does not belong in your sitting room.

The daily focus for Tuesday is planning.

The monthly habit for November is menu planning here!

Flykid's challenge: here (hopefully continually renewing itself).

Daily reminders (which should also update themselves automatically)
here.

Holiday missions here.

Small steps everyone!

Congratulations on a very productive Flying day everyone!

That's a fabulous list achieved Cag esp with a newborn! Star Fingers crossed you don't have any more gallbladder attacks (apparently some people only have one or two and then it settles).

Hope your dog is ok Longtime. And "same here" to "same old" "same old", being too lazy to declutter and travelling dh!! (Are you me? Grin) No wonder you feel the house feels empty with your dh travelling so much - that's a very long trip to China - must be tough. Would suggest you come around here this week but we have (a) builders turning up again tomorrow morning and (b) dd has nasty cold which I think I am harbouring too and prob not a good idea to share our microbes. Looking forward to meeting up asap thereafter though!

Zoo Thanks for much needed pointy stick! I absolutely adore wine gums and midget gems too!!! Congrats on cracking list achieved too! (I don't know how you manage to help so many people AND do house work AND cooking - tis v impressive.) Love a good parnsip - always buy them when I see them in supermarket here - keep being asked by Belgians at the check-out what to do with them!!

Hope you found your driving licence Foxes !! I just use a plain microfibre cloth to dust telly screen but others may have better suggestions. Well done re: long list achieved!

Arf at your ds putting you to bed Hills Grin

Hope you managed to have a lunch break today Bowerbird

Waves to Afreshstart, Cotswold CallmeCordelia, Honu Rosa FlyingJellyfish Ponzsu and everyone else I have missed!

Most of my work in the house is about to be destroyed again tomorrow morning when the builders turn up. Although they are all very nice blokes; I am beginning to hate their presence almost to a pathological degree Confused which is a bit wierd I must admit. Added to which, I saved up my usual Mon "work" work for Tues, so that I could escape to office and be out of builders' way, but it looks like dd may be off school tomorrow with very bad cold/bordering on flu so may need to be home after all. We'll see ...

G'night all again!
