Fledglings are raucous in August - the Flylady thread

Thanks to paxillin for our August thread title Smile.

Hello all and welcome to the August Flylady thread. We are a friendly bunch who try to roughly follow the Flylady system. How strictly you follow it is of course up to you! Every day the thread leader posts information about which zone of the house we are in and the missions for the week.

Newbies are always welcome. All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There is enough information on this thread to start getting on with things but you can also trawl through the (confusing at times) website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

I'm on holiday this week with intermittent internet connection so will not be on much but will keep an eye on the thread and hopefully everyone else will feel free to jump in!

With it being summer holidays it may be pretty quiet on here but missions etc will be here for those who want them.

zoo you are not alone. Ds and I have fallen out. he is away. I am tidying his room whilst he is away the lego is going mwah ha ha

But for tonight i just need to fall into bed and sleep because I am tired and it is a busy day tomo although far less shouty thank fuck

Afreshstartplease · 15/08/2017 07:15

Morning all

Ds slept OK again! 930-630 with no stiring. I feel foggy and like I've overslept obviously my body has got used to minimal sleep and doesn't know what to do with 7+ continuous hours!

Think I'm going to have a go at following the plan more closely I just keep getting distracted my boxes and stuff though. Unpacked another three boxes yesterday though so that's good.

gardeningirl · 15/08/2017 07:32

Hi can I join too pleaseSmile
I'm struggling in a shambles of a house, old and very spidery! Have two children and a DH who cooks but does not clean at all... Love some help and structure to my attempts to create order....

Afreshstartplease · 15/08/2017 08:17

gardeningirl welcome! I too have an old (although just moved into) spidery house and a cooking dp who does not clean! Although I have 4 DC. How old are yours?

Ta Da

Washer on

Afreshstartplease · 15/08/2017 08:18

Oh and I keep finding slugs in my house. Any ideas anyone?

mermaidsandunicorns · 15/08/2017 11:13

Welcome gardengirl Smile I joined in Jan and it's really kept me disciplined mostly

afresh I had slug invaders I kept finding slimy trail on the mat each morning and couldn't find the culprit until I moved a corner unit and found him camped out. Salt should see them off

Afreshstartplease · 15/08/2017 12:42

We keep salting them but then get more!

Mumofazoo · 15/08/2017 14:04

Hi can I join, I'm a sahm of four, two boys and two girls and my dh. Both of my boys have asd and finding flylady a couple of years ago has been brilliant for my family. We live in a little village in the country.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 15/08/2017 16:39

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 15/08/2017 16:55

Just posting this early in case I can't get back on later. Anyone else having problems with Mumsnet? There is a danger I might actually get stuff done if I can't waste time on here Grin.

Newbies, there is lots of information on the Flylady website and this is a lovely friendly thread. Afresh, can't help with slugs myself but I remember there are some old threads in housekeeping about them - might be some info in there.

Welcome newbies!

MN is being weird for me too.

Nice afternoon at adventure playground, thoroughly worn out now though and all I did was sit down at a picnic table!

foxessocks · 15/08/2017 19:01

Hello to the new people!

Ta das
Mopped bathroom floor
Daily routine
Cooked dinner and tidied up

Been very busy again today but managed another thing of the weekly bleugh - baby steps Indeed!!

Just getting kids to bed then downstairs to finish my gin and tonic GinGrin

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 15/08/2017 19:53

Woohoo this is back in the threads I'm on page. Enjoy your Gin foxes. Glad you had a nice afternoon Cag. Afresh, I think if you have just moved house with 4 DC then unpacking any boxes at all in a day deserves a Star. Has the lego gone Einstein?! Big wing flaps to mermaids and everyone else.

Back from my parents now and proud of myself for making the drive Smile. Out for the day tomorrow so need get stuff ready for that.

Think I need to concentrate on unpacking over the next few days then get properly back into the decluttering. On the plus side I got a few more bits for school at my parents and got taps shoes checked and we don't need any more at the moment, woo hoo.
