Fledglings are raucous in August - the Flylady thread

Thanks to paxillin for our August thread title Smile.

Hello all and welcome to the August Flylady thread. We are a friendly bunch who try to roughly follow the Flylady system. How strictly you follow it is of course up to you! Every day the thread leader posts information about which zone of the house we are in and the missions for the week.

Newbies are always welcome. All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There is enough information on this thread to start getting on with things but you can also trawl through the (confusing at times) website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

I'm on holiday this week with intermittent internet connection so will not be on much but will keep an eye on the thread and hopefully everyone else will feel free to jump in!

With it being summer holidays it may be pretty quiet on here but missions etc will be here for those who want them.

Re the Lego - I'm not looking at huge sorting. The dcs get frustrated because they can't find either lego figures or small pieces amongst the bigger ones. I figured if I can sort things out a little, just so they can find those things, I'm happy with that. I'm not talking sorting completely by colour and size - that way madness lies! Grin

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 24/08/2017 16:32

ah so you have 2 tubs of random lego - big bits and smaller bits. That could work.

Cagliostro · 24/08/2017 16:39

Just popping on briefly after my 28wk scan. Baby is definitely a girl! :o

foxessocks · 24/08/2017 17:20

All this talk of Lego is making me fear the next stage of toys...it's bad enough trying to find the happy eggs to go back in the box or sort out all the Sylvanian families stuff!

Friends DC has gone home and I managed to stay sane, even did some biscuit decorating with them! (I personally won't be eating any of the biscuits since they've been sneezed on Envy )

Ta das
Daily routine and big tidy of toys as the house was a TIP
Dinner cooking
Biscuits made and decorated
Mopped downstairs floor
Sorted my big make up box in bedroom

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/08/2017 17:45

Hello all, just back from work and sorting the kids out. Will be on later.

GingerIvy · 24/08/2017 18:36

foxes you haven't lived until you've stepped on a lego with bare feet. Ouch!!

GingerIvy · 24/08/2017 18:37

Cag awwww, congrats on finding out it's a girl! How fun! All those dresses and girly things. (yeah, I know - but I thankfully got it all out of my system with dd before having 2 boys hahahaha)

mermaidsandunicorns · 24/08/2017 19:45

Work done

I've decided I hate holidaymakers after serving an utter twat someone who dropped his shopping on the floor and blamed me.

Work trial tomorrow so everyone cross absolutely everything for me 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/08/2017 19:49

Ooooh a wee cagletini girl how exciting!!

Mumofazoo · 24/08/2017 19:50

cag congrats on your baby girl Bear

Today we had some great news about youngest ds, he is doing well on his current dose of his medication but he has also gained 3kgs since June. This is a massive achievement for him as he has so many issues with food.this is probably outing but I don't care. He has ME Asd and psychosis so he has a lot on his young shoulders.

Ta da
Took youngest ds to camhs
Baked so many cookies
Baked a couple of loaves
Loaded dishwasher

Just had to get my dh to carry youngest ds to bed as his legs gave way Sad

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 24/08/2017 20:10

Hello all, ofazoo, fab news about your DS's appointment. Impressive walk zoo :) . Fingers and toes crossed for your work trial mermaids. Ginger and Einstein, you are making me think about lego sorting ideas now. We don't have that much atm but will probably end up with more so could do with some ideas for the future. foxes, I've also seen that sleeping bag or storage bag tip but only on the internet and would love to see it in real life to see if it works. Definitely tempting to zip arguing children in there too GoGo Grin. Afresh, yes the sets are so expensive Angry. My DC are the opposite and want to keep them all in their separate sets but of course things then get lost which leads to upset. Or they want to keep the creations built for ever whichbof course is huge clutter.

Very exciting news re. Cagletini girl Cag SmileBear.

Garden, hope engineer fixed heating. Hope you enjoyed cinema celeste.

I've not done any flying as it was a work day. Need to investigate tea - we have no suitable food in the house so may need to nip out to shop once DDs asleep.

Ive since had to resettle ds another two times. If he wakes once im in bed i know ill end up with him in my bed cause i really cant face getting up to him every half hour!

Just had a quick go at the kitchen.

Cleared and wiped table from tea
Scrubbed two baby bottles
Washed half the tea pots
Tidied and wiped one worktop.

Excuse me while I just do a virtual scream into my pillow . Ds woke up the minute his head hit his bed . DD has woken up in a bad mood and is shouting.

Honestly don't know how I'm going to get through today with my sanity...

Mellington · 25/08/2017 08:09

Joining this late to the party after discovering Fly lady via an app, downloaded in a vain bid to restore sanity to the home. Currently selling our house so it's the tidiest it's ever been so I don't feel 'guilty' about, for instance, decluttering a drawer.

Not yet dressed though, always failing on that, but have fed everyone and had coffee!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/08/2017 08:41

Welcome Mellington Smile. I'm not dressed yet either!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/08/2017 08:42
