Fledglings are raucous in August - the Flylady thread

Thanks to paxillin for our August thread title Smile.

Hello all and welcome to the August Flylady thread. We are a friendly bunch who try to roughly follow the Flylady system. How strictly you follow it is of course up to you! Every day the thread leader posts information about which zone of the house we are in and the missions for the week.

Newbies are always welcome. All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There is enough information on this thread to start getting on with things but you can also trawl through the (confusing at times) website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

I'm on holiday this week with intermittent internet connection so will not be on much but will keep an eye on the thread and hopefully everyone else will feel free to jump in!

With it being summer holidays it may be pretty quiet on here but missions etc will be here for those who want them.

I post one her offerings if you like(dont feel obliged to want see her artwork.as her mum my job be biased!!)

CotswoldStrife · 19/08/2017 22:06

< Cotswold jealously flicks star badge off stillzoo's chest and admires Caglitini's cute buggy>

It's been a mixed week here. We did fit a few activities in but there were less than planned after DD came down with a d&v bug. I had the same one about a fortnight before (at the start of our holiday, not even at home) so perhaps there is just something going around. I could say that I have tidied up a bit, but really it's just been clutter shuffling. Some bits are better, though

DH is off for a bit too now, and we are away again for a couple of days next week to see family for a bit. Holidays still racing past too fast!

CotswoldStrife · 19/08/2017 22:44

I'd love to see the artwork. I struggle to draw a rectangle with a ruler but love the work of others!

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 19/08/2017 22:55

Solution found to storage problem. Room prepped for 2nd half that needs finishing touches. Some structural work needs to be done before I can do the painting, clean, put books on shelf in a logical manner. currently where's wally is between a number of historical novals, which makes no sense but no point moving now as they will have to be taken off to be clean when finished the messy stuff anyway.

ta da
upset the gods of furniture construction with my foul language before grabbing a bastard file its actual name to deal with an ill fitting shelf
Put all the games on the shelves
clear 1/2 a room ready for building work
clear the bed in the spare room
sort out getting pictures back on the walls
play hunt the light fitting an lose (its in a safe place) Hmm
play hunt the sock and lose (probably under the file of paperwork I am ignoring)
drink more water than care to because it all seems to be leaking out of my nose stupid allergies!!!!!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 19/08/2017 22:57

Hey, no arguing over Stars on this thread Cotswold Smile. I spend enough time in real life dealing with bickering! I'll give you a star for enjoying the holidays and feeling it is going too fast Wink - very ready for back to school here and DD2 is desperate to start Star.

Would also love to see the drawing.

Whyyyyy is it soooo cold!

foxessocks · 20/08/2017 07:46

Thanks , ds tooth seems to be ok at the moment but we're keeping an eye on it. He has started walking in the last few days so is more accident prone than ever - he seems to just seek out danger! I've had to stop writing this just now because he knocked a lamp off my dressing table I don't even know how he got round there as it's pushed right back Shock

On a positive note second night he slept all the way through last night, I can't quite believe it...I still keep waking up though!

Have just realised this week was bathroom plus one other room, I thought I'd done so well with the bathroom now I feel like I should get the spare room sorted as it's a big mess. Not sure how motivated I feel at the moment though!

celeste4 · 20/08/2017 08:16

Cots I hope you manage to get rid of the bug from your house.

Fresh I noticed it got cold last night. We normally leave our windows open all summer (except the downstairs at night or when we go out) and i noticed a cold draft.

We didn't do much yesterday. Just mooched to the park a few times with ds. dh cleaned the car. He also has the week off work this week too. Got a few day trips here and there planned.

My list today:

strips beds
laundry
hoover upstairs

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 20/08/2017 08:29

Morning all. Fairly warm here, sorry Afresh ! Although I know what you both mean, it has felt a little colder at times.

Ta da:-
Dishwasher cleaned and cleaning cycle on

To do:-
Morning routine
Coffee
Take girls to party
Recheck that new school shoes still fit
Either DH or I will have to trek out to this restaurant to pick up the left bag while the other occupies the kids.

Help DD1 with her holiday homework

Later I need to get stuff together for a work study day tomorrow - I don't normally work Mondays and have a fear I will forget to go in!

Managed to finish unpacking from trip to my parents last night finally so am back on the decluttering train. Have been researching organisation stations and don't think I can do a full one as already have a calendar and pin board up in two separate locations that work for us. Have a vague idea for how I could use a bit of our dining room for a homework / school letters station but it will be a work in progress. It's a little storage unit that originally had a tv in it and now holds comics and colouring stuff plus some other bits but if I could move them then it could be for homework. Will investigate!

Well ds kept making dummies disappear in the night and I have finally found his stash! In the cot tidy pockets on the cot! I don't know why I hadn't checked there before TBH but yeah. Four dummies found!

I did the four dcs beds yesterday, all bedrooms are tidy and hoovered. Need to do our bed today.

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/08/2017 11:59

Oh and been shopping!

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 20/08/2017 12:02

If anyone has seen my motivation please return it. The allergies are kicking my butt. Can't sleep, breathing is harder. And the only fucking solution is to deep clean all the things. I have no energy to deep clean all the things, there is building work happening later which will create more dust, and I don't want to. My other alternative is to sort and file a pile of paperwork. I don't want to do that either.

GingerIvy · 20/08/2017 12:23

I'm putting together my "winter prep" list today, so I can get started on it. And looking at getting a few things done around the house that I've put off for ages. Before I order any curtains, I'm going to look through a couple boxes I have with some old curtains in them, in case there's anything there that will do. No point spending money on new curtains if I don't have to. Wish I still had my sewing machine as I could have made some from material I likely have, but at this point it would require hand sewing. Urgh.
