Fledglings are raucous in August - the Flylady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/07/2017 18:04

Thanks to paxillin for our August thread title Smile.

Hello all and welcome to the August Flylady thread. We are a friendly bunch who try to roughly follow the Flylady system. How strictly you follow it is of course up to you! Every day the thread leader posts information about which zone of the house we are in and the missions for the week.

Newbies are always welcome. All information is available on the Flylady website www.flylady.net

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

There is enough information on this thread to start getting on with things but you can also trawl through the (confusing at times) website:-

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

I'm on holiday this week with intermittent internet connection so will not be on much but will keep an eye on the thread and hopefully everyone else will feel free to jump in!

With it being summer holidays it may be pretty quiet on here but missions etc will be here for those who want them.

Actually, I've thought of something. I do disagree with you about sewing / craft type stuff - can't stand doing it and only sew if I absolutely have to!

Morning all

Yet again ds slept through but dd had a nightmare. WHY!

foxessocks · 19/08/2017 10:04

Hi everyone sorry haven't caught up with the thread quite properly , dd has been poorly but is better today and has gone out with the grandparents. I'm just enjoying a coffee while ds naps. he slept through last night first night ever!!! Probably a fluke but I'll take it! Afresh it's always the way isn't it? I actually woke up at 4am worried about DS, checked on him and then still couldn't sleep properly after that. Grr!

Oh and ds knocked his tooth in the bath last night Sad

Flying wise I did manage to do the bed sheets last night but my ironing got cut short by the ds tooth drama!

Happy weekend everyone!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 19/08/2017 11:48

Afreshstartplease · 19/08/2017 12:16

Very annoying stressy!

foxes is ds's tooth okay? Funnily enough my ds used the bath taps to pull up standing last night and nearly gave me a heart attack as I feared he would fall and bang himself!

Ta Da

Two boxes unpacked
Paint etc shoved in the cellar
Dry washing sorted
Dryer on
Washer on

foxessocks · 19/08/2017 12:21

toostressy we think he has bent the tooth back a bit but not too sure as his teeth weren't perfectly straight before so hard to tell. Lots of blood and crying but he seems ok today and is eating and shouting as usual so can't be in any pain.

Afresh I wasn't there as dh was doing bathtime but I think that's what happened he just suddenly stood up and slipped hitting face on tap Sad usually dd is up the tap end for this very reason but think she'd shuffled round to get to a toy or something and DS had seen the space and got excited! Dh said it happened in the blink of an eye which I can well believe as ds is extremely fast!!

Afreshstartplease · 19/08/2017 12:24

foxes unfortunately our taps are in the middle of the bath so cannot use our dd to block them off! I will say keep an eye on the tooth, one of my older DC took a bad bang to a tooth, it went grey and fell out ....

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 19/08/2017 12:25

Might be worth getting a dentist to look at it next week anyway, just to keep an eye on it if nothing else (I should say that teeth are not my area though!).

Meant to get on here yesterday but got sidetracked. Got the link for your blog cag and will look at it tonight. Thanks. I'm still mulling over what to focus mine on. I'm not sharing it with family or ex. Grin I'm "incognito" on it and prefer to remain that way.

Reorganised a couple kitchen cupboards today, plus did all the laundry and sheets. I'll have to give the washing machine a rest now. Grin

Wow definite Star for that list zoo Smile.

Well we had (amazingly) another lovely meal out but unfortunately left DD2's bag in the restaurant. There were only a few pennies in it but it means one of us trekking back in tomorrow (approx 30 mins drive if not more) to pick it up tomorrow Angry. Why I am so disorganised Confused?

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 19/08/2017 19:20

Imo children stressy somehow they mess with your brain and it is never the same.

Being trying to get everything that needs to go on the shelves on the shelves. It won't fucking fit and we have clearly decluttered a smidge too much. I need to see what we can do about it because there is just no where else for the stuff to go.

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/08/2017 20:20

Kids def mess with your brain.pre kid i was on the ball.as teen i was up at 6 and had time read papers before collecting my scatterbained friend from hers at 6.i remember feeding her polos as we dash to school(she was always losing stuff.a classic entry to her house was her run round eat bowl porridge shouting wheres me keys)id tell her what was going on in the world (befire breakfast telly was big).these days its me shouting wheres me keys.....

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/08/2017 20:21
  1. We left hers at 8.i was fast.byt not thst fastGrin
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 19/08/2017 20:43

Thanks zoo and Einstein. I was pretty disorganised before I had kids to be fair and in some ways I have improved since having them as have had no choice. However, I really do agree that kids mess with your brain! A work colleague with grown up children was talking about this actually and said that when you are running around looking after your children (or adults) there is just so much going on in your head that little things often get forgotten.

Afresh, inspired by another thread I have been looking at Clutterbug on YouTube and there are some amazing organisation station videos on there!

ofazoo, the My Little Pony roadshow sounds amazing. I my DDs would love that Smile.

Ginger and Cag, I love reading blogs Smile. I find them quite inspiring and they let me be legitimately nosy Grin.

foxes, hope your DS is still ok.

Big wing flaps to all.
