Welcome to the May 2017 fledgling Fly thread!

Feel free to park your mops and buckets here from the 1st of the month!

This is where we attempt to declutter our homes and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy barftastic language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation (and Wine of course) along the way.

More info available here, here here and here.

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. (Some of us are still stuck at the decluttering stage after quite a few years Blush):

1 - repeat or start baby steps (again!)

2 - repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

3 - reinforce babysteps and/or do daily missions
And those of you who have decluttered and are really enthusiastic can throw some detailed cleaning in to the mix as well!

The idea is that we focus on short, ring-fenced, daily bursts of activity (steps and routines) that will help our homes run (more or less!) on "automatic pilot" allowing us to do far more interesting things instead!

This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees welcome!

Helpful pointers: No perfectionism allowed! If it took a while to create the current C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) in your home, then it will probably take a while to reverse the situation (you can't clean clutter!). Small steps are the key! And you are never behind: just jump in where you are at!

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

You could make a killing letting channel four film you though zoo

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 20/05/2017 12:00
Grin Ds is currently screaming and throwing things. because we all know that will help get the room tidy quicker Hmm
Stilllivinginazoo · 20/05/2017 12:53

Sadly afresh zoo surname ain't RadfordWink
I see in today's sunscum she having another September(20)

Child logic has always evaded me einstein I can't decide if its me that's being daft not getting it or they are?!(old and fuddled)

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 20/05/2017 13:41

Ds is now in the bath and there will be a cull of bath toys afterwards. He has conceded at 12 the toys he hasn't used in 2 yrs might be possible to send to the charity shop. But we gotta keep the spiders for putting in beds, glasses of water etc etc.. Hmm i don't get kid sense of humour anymore than kid logic

Now if i can find some motivation I can tackle his room whilst ds is other wise occupied. but I don't wanna any more than he does

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/05/2017 14:22

Option a)---->pointy stick
Option b)CakeandBrew.Winefor later.

I know which I'd go for Einstein

Slurrycart · 20/05/2017 21:56

Hello lovely fledglings!

Arf at tooth picks, cattle prods and water chucking Grin

Grey yay!! So lovely to have you back! I was wondering how the move went. (Hair raising job sounds interesting!)

Hope your ds2 is OK Busy? The coughing/puking doesn't sound very nice poor lad. Hope you have a better night tonight! Will try and catch up with your laundry thread when I have a mo ... .

Sorry to hear about uncooperative dp Afreshstart. No wonder you were furious Flowers. Flylady doesn't really say much about other halves, other than to suggest that once we all stick to routines and decluttering, our family members somehow magically catch the bug and start tidying up too! That has certainly NOT been my experience; rather the reverse in fact. (On the rare days when the house is tidy, I think they just assume a magic house fairy has moved in.)

Yay @ ballet bun Cag! Hope your dd had fun!

Cheery waves to everyone else! Links coming up! Dashing because hosting teens ... .

The summary for Sunday 21st is available on the Flylady website here under "Today" and via the flight plan which should update itself automatically on a daily basis.

Baby-step no 21 for Sun 21st is here. One you can safely ignore imho, about checking out Ask Flylady section of website.

Sunday will be our first day in Zone 4 (if you do zone work at weekends that is!) : The Master Bedroom, Bath, Closet (May 21-27) here. (Very timely for me, but there again I say that every month Grin.)

Spend 15 mins decluttering the current zone (if you do zone work at weekends).

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list for Zone 4 (if you are at that stage and if you do weekend zone work ) is here .

No missions because it is the weekend!

The daily focus for Sunday is renewing your spirit. In other words, do something for yourself for an hour or so that makes you feel relaxed.

The monthly habit is moving in May!.

Daily reminders (which should also update automatically) are here.

Hope you can find a little time for yourselves to relax this Sunday! G'night all!

Sorry to hear your dd2 is poorly again Zoo

Hope your ds2 has a very happy birthday tomorrow Mermaids

Oh and as to Flying on my part = an absolute flat zero. Not one item of laundry was washed. Not one plate was put in dw. Spent morning buying stationery supplies for exams with dd and running errands, afternoon at school fete of dd's old primary school, evening hosting dd friends.

Cagliostro · 20/05/2017 22:42

Hosting is Flying in my book! :)

Nowt done here apart from having a nap :o and I ordered stuff online

Slurrycart · 21/05/2017 07:07

Good morning all!

Cag thank you, but in all honesty if only involved a bit of driving and walking and the ordering of pizza! Even managed to have a lovely bubble bath during their visit!

Girding my loins just now as loads to do today, including getting DD to catch up on study!

Glorious weather here again; hope everyone has a lovely Sunday!

Morning all

I feel like shat. Big brown stinking shat.

Afreshstartplease · 21/05/2017 08:40

And I posted too soon!

Head is banging. Ears are sore. Throat feels like I ate glass.

Grim

Ta da

Fuck all

To do

Everything

Slurrycart · 21/05/2017 08:42

Oh no Afreshstart that sounds awful Brew Flowers

OP posts:
Afreshstartplease · 21/05/2017 08:47

It feels awful. Took more paracetamol at 8am but they've not done anything yet. Sad

I have to go shoe shopping.
Clean and tidy house.
Supervise homework.
Have four DC with me all day.
Visit the building site aka new house.
Order food shopping.

Slurrycart · 21/05/2017 08:54

Oh no Afreshstart is there anyone you could call? You can't do all that when you are I'll. Don't know ages of your dc, but at the very least can you delegate some simple housework tasks to them while you get your head down on the sofa?

OP posts:
Afreshstartplease · 21/05/2017 09:01

The older three are currently entertaining theirselves so that helps (they are between 4 and 9) and baby is quite happy playing with his feet
I did start with this last night and once paracetamol kicked in I felt much better but clumsy I assume due to my ears
Dp is here but in bed as was at the building site til late and will be there again today, this needs doing because we need to be able to move into it asap as we are currently wasting money on the rental

Don't get why this morning's paracetamol aren't kicking in! I'm gonna try and move in a min instead of watching the emmmerdale omnibus which I've already seen once this weekend

Slurrycart · 21/05/2017 09:11

Gosh, DC are quite young then (well too young to hand over on-line shopping order and major cleaning duties!)) Aw at baby playing with his feet Smile

Poor you though Flowers. These things always come at the worst times; it's sod's law. Didn't realise you had a building project ongoing. With four kids that's got to be v tough going for you all.

Hope the meds kick in soon and that you can rest up a bit. Sounds as though that is going to be unlikely though x.

OP posts:
Afreshstartplease · 21/05/2017 09:17

DC 1+2 could probably work the online shopping however what they would actually buy might be disappointing. Pain is subsiding now just got head fog.

Ta da

Dryer on (doesn't need long can't tell if damp or cold)

Slurrycart · 21/05/2017 09:25

Yeah, I asked DD to do on-line shopping order once when I was struck down with three day migraine and she did it surprisingly well apart from the pkts of crisps and zoo biscuits Smile

Glad you are telling a bit better but take it steady x
