Welcome to the May 2017 fledgling Fly thread!

Feel free to park your mops and buckets here from the 1st of the month!

This is where we attempt to declutter our homes and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy barftastic language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation (and Wine of course) along the way.

More info available here, here here and here.

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. (Some of us are still stuck at the decluttering stage after quite a few years Blush):

1 - repeat or start baby steps (again!)

2 - repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

3 - reinforce babysteps and/or do daily missions
And those of you who have decluttered and are really enthusiastic can throw some detailed cleaning in to the mix as well!

The idea is that we focus on short, ring-fenced, daily bursts of activity (steps and routines) that will help our homes run (more or less!) on "automatic pilot" allowing us to do far more interesting things instead!

This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees welcome!

Helpful pointers: No perfectionism allowed! If it took a while to create the current C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) in your home, then it will probably take a while to reverse the situation (you can't clean clutter!). Small steps are the key! And you are never behind: just jump in where you are at!

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

afresh this is why I don't live with dp.I would kill him.I often feel like single mum, despite be an exclusive couple 15 years!!his mum raise him out self first. I'd hoped after she was gone things might change.alas not. I adamant my ds won't be like that.he's a lazy thing, but he grasps empathy and sympathy of others and if I ask him he does things.I near broke neck go in his bear pit room earlier n ranted.he said(in sad quiet voice) I'm sorry mummy(he's 11,so I knew it was bad when calls me mummy!!)I tidy it tom and then you can come and tell me any bits I've missed
Cue feel like evil mum.....

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/05/2017 19:56

Put self first.sodding phone!!

Afreshstartplease · 19/05/2017 21:03

Zoo how do you find living separate? Not that it's an option here and I wouldn't want to I don't think I just want him to stop looking out for number 1 so much!

Slurrycart · 19/05/2017 22:35

Hi all, sorry just posting and running tonight. Hope everyone ok. Catch up tomorrow once free! G'night all!

The summary for Saturday 20th is available on the Flylady website here under "Today" and via the flight plan which should update itself automatically on a daily basis.

Baby-step no 20 for Sat 20th is here. Include laundry in your morning and evening routines.

Rosa was it you asking about this? Or was it you Busy? Apologies if it was someone else (can't scroll down far enough!). Flylady advocates five short steps: sort, wash, fold, dry, put away. No mention of ironing at all!! Quite a large omission imho.

Saturday is our last day in Zone 3 (if you do zone work at weekends that is!) : The Main Bathroom and One Extra Room (May 14-20) here.

Spend 15 mins decluttering the current zone (if you do zone work at weekends).

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list for Zone 3 (if you are at that stage and if you do weekend zone work ) is here.

For information: next week's zone will be Zone 4: The Master Bedroom, Bath, Closet (May 21-27).

No missions because it is the weekend! Yay!

The daily focus for Saturday is family fun. Or as much fun as humanly possible with broken nights and the demands of little 'uns.

The monthly habit is moving in May!.

Daily reminders (which should also update automatically) are here.

Have a lovely weekend fledglings!

SC you have a lovely weekend too

I'm up at this hour because DS2 has a cough and having coughing fits then puking milk! He's only 3 months and seems to have calmed down now bless him. Problem is he has milk then coughs it all out by vomiting. Managed to get it all on me and not fed fresh sheets DH put on the bed this evening. At least it's just on a couple of night shirts.

I may have asked about laundry SC. I have just started a thread on asking people about laundry this evening which is bizarre lol

Asking if people put their machine on at night or the morning.

I usually get two loads every three days but decided to do a load a day. I just bung them all in together sometimes with a colour run sheet (except jeans or new coloured items which I am unsure as to whether will run in the wash). Touch wood never had any problems to date.

Let's see how I cope with adding laundry to my daily routine... laundry is definitely never ending lol

I usually bung the clothes that need to ironed into a section or the wardrobe where I can't see it hahah and deal with it another day lol

Afreshstartplease · 20/05/2017 06:26

Today we are doing that thing. You know the one which involves saying tidy up until everyone ends up in tears? Yep that.

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 20/05/2017 11:32

zoo best I have is a glass of water that was nearly chucked over ds in order to get him out of bed insert normal argument about healthy sleep patterns here
It's not quite the cattleprod you were asking for but can be sufficiently effective when needed.
