Welcome to the May 2017 fledgling Fly thread!

Feel free to park your mops and buckets here from the 1st of the month!

This is where we attempt to declutter our homes and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy barftastic language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation (and Wine of course) along the way.

More info available here, here here and here.

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. (Some of us are still stuck at the decluttering stage after quite a few years Blush):

1 - repeat or start baby steps (again!)

2 - repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

3 - reinforce babysteps and/or do daily missions
And those of you who have decluttered and are really enthusiastic can throw some detailed cleaning in to the mix as well!

The idea is that we focus on short, ring-fenced, daily bursts of activity (steps and routines) that will help our homes run (more or less!) on "automatic pilot" allowing us to do far more interesting things instead!

This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees welcome!

Helpful pointers: No perfectionism allowed! If it took a while to create the current C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) in your home, then it will probably take a while to reverse the situation (you can't clean clutter!). Small steps are the key! And you are never behind: just jump in where you are at!

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

Oh I reckon DD won't be getting rid of her dolls for a good few years yet SC :) I think it's nice when they don't feel rushed to grow up too quickly. DD's main present for her 10th birthday is another doll, dressed as a fossil hunter :)

We've now banned the Caglets from going in our room without permission (there is so little space in their tiny bedroom that most of their toys are stored in the Ikea units in our room) because every time we get all the toys away it gets messed up so quickly. So we are going to have to get stricter about it. They understand though as they agree that if we keep the toys nicer it'll be quicker for us to tidy up the rest.

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/05/2017 18:55

cag ds(11)loves his dinosaurs and lego still.dd2(13)loves a sneaky play with dolls/play Mobil

Slurrycart · 31/05/2017 07:15

Good morning all!

Lovely to hear about other teens/pre-teens who are still children at heart! Smile

Arf at haughty corner Zoo, I think that one might stick!! Grin

Thanks to the humidity, middle-aged palpitations, and a rather full on "exchange" with dd (who is determined to think that the world, school and us are against her (as 13 yr olds have a tendency to do despite lots of protestations to the contrary) just before bed [sigh]) I basically didn't sleep last night and it is sodding humid again this morning. Feel like a rung out rag.

On the positive front, I am off to the country now (to meet scaffolders and gardeners) and will be largely absent from the thread(s) today (back late tonight) so please could everyone keep a welcoming eye out for newcomers on June thread?! Ta!

Have a good day everyone!

Busy social day today. Need to clear the table ready for board games!

Rosabellajames · 31/05/2017 10:22

I'm glad I reminded you toostressy I feel a lot more positive this morning for being a little more organised, even if the house is still a tip, just organising the events for the month means it'll already be less stressful than last month! I've also got all dds dance clothes tagged ,ironed and labelled ready for this weekend - a job that usually gets left until the day before / the morning of the show !!

Ta da
Washing out on line
Another load waiting to be hung out
A load sorted ready to go in (catching up on holiday washing as it looks like it's going to be a glorious day!)
An hours worth of ironing (my anti procrastination task! Although there is still more to do, but I won't do it while dd2 is crawling about so it'll have to wait till nap time )

To do
More ironing this evening
Nip to the shops
15 mins putting clothes away
15 mins decluttering playroom
A good hoover of the living room, oh is going to help me move the furniture this evening
Maybe catch up on things that was on yesterday's list but didn't do with being out most of the day Grin

Hi all, think I was on the June thread by mistake! zoo, I like Jillian Michaels and Erin O' Brien. Also lots of free stuff on YouTube. Just on work lunch now so will be back on later.

CotswoldStrife · 31/05/2017 13:32

Frantic waving at the fledglings - out again in 5 mins but DD's appointment at the hospital today went well, no problems in that area I think so that is good news. Back later!

CotswoldStrife · 31/05/2017 13:33

Love the haughty corner btw!

Stilllivinginazoo · 31/05/2017 15:17

Will I ever live haughty corner down?!Grin

As dd2 still at sleepover I've had chance to spend time little ones.ashamed to say that quite rare one to one as dd2 very demanding and makes it nigh on impossible to have quality individual time others. She wants me all to herself which as a parent living alone with kids is very hardSadlil zoo and I have made vegan vanilla fairy cakes, which was great fun(and not TOO messy)
Ds now needs decide what we shall do.looking like colouring or drawing

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/05/2017 19:45

I am totally confused as to which thread we are on Grin. Think I will stay on here for now mainly. Love the haughty corner. Will scrabble in my cupboards to see what I can donate to it to see if I qualify.

Just doing bedtime now. DH downstairs sorting tea. Was at work today so not much done but have done 5 mins decluttering if a drawer of despair in the boudoir. Am inspired now to declutter as it appears that is he key to a more organised house.
