Welcome to the May 2017 fledgling Fly thread!

Feel free to park your mops and buckets here from the 1st of the month!

This is where we attempt to declutter our homes and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy barftastic language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation (and Wine of course) along the way.

More info available here, here here and here.

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. (Some of us are still stuck at the decluttering stage after quite a few years Blush):

1 - repeat or start baby steps (again!)

2 - repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

3 - reinforce babysteps and/or do daily missions
And those of you who have decluttered and are really enthusiastic can throw some detailed cleaning in to the mix as well!

The idea is that we focus on short, ring-fenced, daily bursts of activity (steps and routines) that will help our homes run (more or less!) on "automatic pilot" allowing us to do far more interesting things instead!

This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees welcome!

Helpful pointers: No perfectionism allowed! If it took a while to create the current C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) in your home, then it will probably take a while to reverse the situation (you can't clean clutter!). Small steps are the key! And you are never behind: just jump in where you are at!

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

Good stuff zoo

Morning everyone. Hoping for a better day today. Nobody else awake yet so happy not to do stuff in case it wakes them up... DD was feeling ill last night as well so she needs the sleep... she's got a ballroom event tonight but I'm not sure she will be well enough. :(

Trying to think of a list of things I need to sort out. Brilliant news yesterday, it appears I am getting PIP. I burst into tears when I saw it in my bank account. My assessment was less than 3 weeks ago, I am astounded that I didn't need to appeal. And once my award letter arrives there is lots of other help I can access such as a disabled bus pass, which will make a massive difference.

Also as we've had the backpayment (it's dated from when you first ring up for the form) we can now start thinking about what we need for baby Shock I was looking at buggies last night! Eeek!

Afreshstartplease · 14/05/2017 10:49

Great news cag Baby shopping is like my favorite shopping EVER! How many weeks are you now?

Cagliostro · 14/05/2017 10:52

14 weeks now :) so too early for purchases really, was planning to wait until 20 week scan, I want to start getting an idea though.

Afreshstartplease · 14/05/2017 10:56

Never too early to look!

Will you find out if it's a boy or girl?

Cagliostro · 14/05/2017 10:58

I'm really hoping not to! Not sure if my patience will hold out though. We found out with DD and DS but I always thought it might be nice to have a surprise. As DH said, the whole pregnancy was a surprise Blush so may as well have another :o

Afreshstartplease · 14/05/2017 13:09

Ah see I have ZERO patience. Found out at 16 weeks with DC4!

Slurrycart · 14/05/2017 16:48

Welcome to the third Flying week of the month!

The summary for Monday 15th May is available on the Flylady website here under "Today" and via the flight plan which should update itself automatically on a daily basis.

Baby-step no 15 for Mon 15th is here . Add bed-making to your morning routine. (Newcomers: Flylady suggests doing this as soon as your feet hit the floor first thing in the morning but I find that a bit eugh frankly and like the beds to air first ... .)

We are in Zone 3 this week: The Main Bathroom and One Extra Room (May 14-20) here.

Spend 15 mins decluttering the current zone.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list for Zone 3 (if you are at that stage) is here.

Monday's mission is here. Clear all bathroom surfaces by putting away any cosmetics, toiletries, hairbrushes etc that are lying about.

The daily focus for Monday is our favourite not the home bleugh. Spend 10 minutes on each of seven essential tasks, but as we have established, the majority of us can't get the bed-making done in that time!

The monthly habit is moving in May!.

Daily reminders (which should also update automatically) are here.

Hope everyone has as productive a week as humanly possible!

foxessocks · 15/05/2017 07:58

zoo a kitten, how exciting! Can you get it insured or are you waiting to know if you're definitely keeping it? We took a kitten in once and didn't get it insured and then it got poorly very quickly and it was very expensive!

Ds actually slept pretty well last night , he was still up twice but with longer stretches in between and only came into our bed at 5.

To do
Bathroom declutter / clear up
Bathroom swish and swipe
Daily routine
Dusting

Slurrycart · 15/05/2017 08:22

Morning all! Lovely day here! Hope everyone (and dcs) feeling a bit sprightlier!

Ooh re kitten Zoo Glad you had a (relatively) good night! (I absolutely loved the Carbonel books as a child! Can remember the old woman in the sweet shop who dipped her head a bit too much while going through to the back; as if she was used to wearing a very tall hat! Wink )

Hope your DD feeling a bit better today Cag

Glad you had a better night Foxes (although still sounds rather exhausting!)

Your w/e sounds lovely Toostressy!

In too much of a spin to write a list yet -so many things need doing all at once - had better get on with them!

Have a good day fledglings!

Ooh a kitten! 😍 I met my neighbour's gorgeous 5mo miniature schnauzer yesterday. Toooo cute. Very jumpy.

Got to actually get up today as going out later. Just realised how badly I've 'crashed' both physically and mentally. Barely been off the sofa at all and dare I admit I'm still in the clothes I came back in on Friday. 😰 In a lot of pain/coughing etc but also just feel really sad and can't be bothered to do anything, mess building up worse than usual and I've not even been able to prepare food. Hoping we can get back to routine now but it's going to be hard because part of that routine unavoidably involves DD's 'friend'. We've talked about how we are going to deal with it going forward but I can see DD is feeling the same as me - exhausted and sad, and losing faith in people. She refused bed and was hurting herself last night because she was so anxious, saying it was like being back at school. She left school because of bullying. 😰

Sorry for the totally non-flying-related rant!

BluePheasant · 15/05/2017 08:46

Morning all! Well it's safe to say it's a tad wet out today (understatement!!!). Annoying to be putting washing on the electric airer in May but needs must

Have spent weekend recovering from feeling absolutely shattered! Think the bad sleep at start of week with DDs mystery rash and then long days at work took its toll. We had my dad up for the day yesterday so DD had nice day with grandad Smile

Sorry to hear the holiday was such a disappointment Cag. Like you said, that mum is doing her DD no favours at all, it must be frustrating to see. Hope your DD is feeling a bit better today.

Oh dear, hope Scout cat and new kitten get used to each other soon zoo good luck with the vets!

Eek don't know much about getting rid of moths Einstein! I heard something the other day about how they were becoming a lot more common again as people are buying less synthetic fibre clothing now and moving back towards wools and silks. I think they said shaking things out regularly helps keep them at bay as they hate to be disturbed. Good luck!

Oh what a rubbish week Rosa, hope this one goes better for you!

Waves and Brew everyone, I'm going to try and crack on as have 3 hours while DD in preschool so need to make most of it! Brew

BluePheasant · 15/05/2017 08:55

Oh no Cag so sorry to hear feeling so down, sounds like you and DD both need some tlc. How about doing a treat night together this week? Bubble baths, film, pizza etc
So hard when can't avoid the girl who's upset her Sad

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/05/2017 09:37

Decided move carbonnel to bathroom.scout cat then has total run downstairs without her scent and am hoping make him move ameniable

So tadas
Bathroom-
Windowsill wiped
Windows cleaned
Radiator and skirts cleaned
Bath n sink wiped out
Bath panel wiped
Tidy drawers and shut them all
Empty bin
Clean floor

Create barracade to secure carbonnel in whilst we can climb over/see in without disturbing her
Neighbours kid come for a look as we walking her in with mine today
Zoolets at school
Pop shop bread/milk etc
Check carbonnel-scoutcat came for a sniff.growled and hiss as I held him up to see over bathroom door baracade...skulked downstairs growling at me
...I persisted rub His scent spots on cheeks and back and he kinda purred(looking cross but secretly liking the fussGrin)

House total train wreck so I may as well start under the stairs so I have some space to put away what should live in there!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/05/2017 09:38

PS
I don't have answers,just understanding as been there and it's a very difficult situation.x

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 15/05/2017 09:44

Cag Flowers. Definitely some pamper time sounds sensible. Great news re sleep foxes and exciting re. kitten zoo Smile.

Have faffed on MN this morning so must get on now!

To do:-
Morning routine
Get DD2 to her activity
Possibly go for run

foxessocks · 15/05/2017 10:35

cag so sorry you're feeling so low and your dd too, I don't have any wise words really but I hope things improve.

Ta da
Emptied dishwasher
Picked up parcel from post office
Got some fruit from the shop

Took dd to nursery and the plan was to take ds to the library for a baby group but he fell asleep on the way so I am having a rather large hot chocolate in a cafe instead in peace which never ever happens!! It does mean that I'll have a big rush to get my list done later as we are out this afternoon but I don't care!

I do need to get back on top of the flying this week though. Got lots of things to do that I just keep putting off. End up doing the same stuff because it's easier rather than tackling any of the trickier jobs , I'm basically really good at procrastination. So...I am giving myself a kick up the bum this week. I'm also not going to eat as much crap Blush

Let's see how this goes...
