Neat and clean in 2017 - it's the January Flylady thread

Star HAPPY NEW YEAR Star

Welcome to the January Flylady thread, where we try and maintain our nests in good order by following the Flylady method. We'll post links each day to the Flylady website for the babysteps, daily focus and extra missions in the current zone. The habit of the month is shining your sink (or whatever other place in your home motivates you).

If you are just starting, Flylady recommends decluttering the weekly zone before doing the detailed cleaning and not to do too much at once!

All are welcome, so feel free to join us anytime.

toostressy glad it's not just me sleep deprived today! I always feel so alone in the middle of the night, dh snoring away and just me sitting there trying to get ds to go to sleep!! (My dh does help out when required I'm not bashing him honest!) MN keeps me sane in the middle of the night!

Thanks Cotswold I'm hoping dh will be home relatively early today and I can relax a bit although I actually feel ok at the moment. I need to do a tip trip as well - we have had more snow this morning but it is melting now .

Despite hardly any sleep I had a productive morning partly because I stuck to my routine and my to do list and didn't get distracted.

Ta das
Sorted out my tax return and paid my bill! Hooray!
Did my daily routine
Emptied all bins
Dusted downstairs furniture
Cleaned the kitchen floor (bloody cat just got muddy footprints all over it though Angry)
Went to the bottle bank when I picked up dd from nursery

Good evening fledglings, welcome to Frazzled, lots of newbies this month so jump right in.

Nice list there Dreaming

Zoo and Foxes hope your DC are feeling better soon, you too Purple

Stressy - I also have a 'Master Document' for thread leading, so will be happy to help if you need it.

Gizlot - well done re the dentist; DS and I are booked in for next week

I have had a super productive day:

Lie in as DH took DS to nursery
Unpacked another four or five boxes
Hoovered hall, lounge, kitchen/diner, master bedroom, landing
Purged our boardgames and puzzle collection
Unloaded dishwasher
Washed and dried bed linen
Loaded DH's car with emptied boxes and sacks of packing paper to take to tip tomorrow
Took three big bags of donations to the charity shop around the corner, signed up for GiftAid too.
Trip into town:

  • Paid in cheques x4, updated banks with new address
  • Picked up a set of curtains for our front room - I feel like I have been sat in a goldfish bowl with no curtains and nosy passers by looking in at me!

Kitchen Zone Work:

  • Cleaned the fridge
  • Cleaned the sink
  • Hoovered floor
  • Dishwasher maintenance - topped up salt, rinse aid and a cleaning cycle run
  • Rearranged stuff into more suitable locations

I am LOVING our new home!!!!

Not a bad day. Kitchen done, washing done, food cooked, got pissed on twice, but we're getting there!

CotswoldStrife · 13/01/2017 23:49

Good evening all - so much for me coming back at lunchtime. Have spent far too much time reading MN today Blush No productive day here Rshard, the most flying I've done is when I slipped on that ice this morning!

foxes it is way too early to have finished with HMRC IMO but go you! Yes, 3 year olds can be demanding service users Sad Grin. Good work on the dentist Gizlot (must be the week for them ), zoo has your DD still got that bad throat - that's really dragged on for her. Dreaming good to hear you are covering the rest breaks like a pro! Stressy I was also looking forward to wine tonight but mine tastes awful so it's a G&T for me instead - hope yours is a chilled glass of heaven (and your DH sounds like a keeper with the takeaway too!). Grey lovely to hear about the new home, cheeky sounds like you are making progress.

Hope I've covered everyone, I'll post the links next (and will pass on the docs tomorrow Stressy, you'll be the links Queen!).

Cagliostro · 14/01/2017 01:13

Hello everyone :) I'm feeling a fair bit better than Wednesday's weirdness. Busy day on Thursday due to the Caglets' home ed activities and then SNOW! I was mid-tutoring and the pupils' mum suggested we go to the park after, so we picked the Caglets up from their club and trudged to the skate ramp with a sledge. Then they got us warmed up again at their house before, bless them, dropping us home (we would normally get the bus which takes nearly an hour). Flipping freezing but a really lovely evening with good friends. And I still managed to get the Caglets in the bath, dry shoes/bags etc before bed and today I caught up on the laundry. I haven't done much other flying though!

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/01/2017 07:45

cag sounds like a perfect day
I was woken by one my furry boys rub my face purring, not bad way to Starr the dayeven tho its purely cubord love at 5.30am they norm go out at night as tend be bit naughty causing havoc, but ut was so cold I had a softie moment....
Fed him then found tufts other cat in sink, footprints over all surfaces and other cat akip on the hobHmm
Looks like kitchens going to need cleaning again today(sigh)
Dd2 still asleep, lil zoo and D's playing my lil ponies upstairs.I been watch an old b+w musical on TV.reminds me if my dad (in a nice way,he loved musicals).will start the day once it's finished

Afreshstartplease · 14/01/2017 07:58

Morning all

Right I am pulling myself out of the naughty corner! Even though it's soooo comfy

DC3 was up at 6am, had cuddles in bed for a bit but then was insisting on breakfast so got up about 640 and have now gradually been joined by other 3 DC. Baby is fed and changed so will go down for a nap shortly.

So far I've put on the washer and the dryer. Had a brew and fed youngest 2 DC.

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/01/2017 08:13

How about we pop back between 10-12 with tadas to share?
---------> here's my pointy motivational stick to get us both goingGrin

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 14/01/2017 08:15

Morning all.

Struggling to get going today as had another late night working on my assignment. Am so tired and the work I do is so unproductive late at night. Genuinely worried about how I will get it done. Had family day out tomorrow but DH is going to take the DDs on his own if I don't get enough done tonight to give me some time :(.

Right, am going to get going now, need to get out the door for dance classes. Will pop back between 10 and 12 too hopefully with some ta das Smile. Pass the stick zoo Smile

Afreshstartplease · 14/01/2017 08:36

Sounds good to me zoo

I have just got DC4 down to sleep 3 times because the others keep waking him

I'm gonna get dressed. Empty and reload the dryer and washer, and wash the pots

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/01/2017 08:41

Dd2 still asleep, due to her crying/bad mood as unwell I will leave her there til wakes up!
Everyone else now fed and watered
I need de-cat my kitchen!!
