Ho, ho, ho - welcome to the December Flylady thread. We'll be following the Flylady method and enforcing order on our houses. Feel free to join in. The monthly focus for December is pampering Xmas Grin

I'll be posting links to the daily missions, daily focus and the zone cleaning - don't worry about the detailed zone cleaning if you haven't already decluttered, Flylady recommends decluttering first.

You can probably already tell my personal level of dedication to the internet, not the house as I've looked up the Christmas smileys specially. No washing up was done in the making of this post.

I'll post the first December links tonight!

Xmas Smile

Not got too much done today. Been nursing a hangover from my dh's works do last night. I over indulged on the red wine I think.

Ta da

made beds
washed dishes
tidied living room
done some laundry

Sweepingchange · 10/12/2016 16:10

(hands over paracetamol to Celeste)

Sorry to have got wrong end of stick Cag that would be terrific if you could go up a priority band. Good luck with all the form filling!

Oh that's so disappointing for your dd Sad

Those of you that wrap presents in advance, how do you keep them pristine until the big day/ where do you hide them? Wrapped presents always take up so much more space than unwrapped ones I find and aren't as easy to "tuck away"??

Cagliostro · 10/12/2016 16:26

No worries SC we are still pleased to have 'passed' the inspection as at least it means we are still able to stay here until something else is sorted :)

In terms of presents we have a high shelf in our wardrobe so things just get carefully stashed up there. Definitely helps to spend more on thicker wrapping paper, I usually go with m&s and Boots now (not that it's helpful for you if you don't have those shops!) after finding that cheap stuff rips easily. I buy after Christmas in the sales to get it cheaper.

Must move the laundry on a stage now.

Sweepingchange · 10/12/2016 16:53

Ah that all makes sense thx Cag don't have much storage here so high wardrobe shelves all stuffed Blush

foxessocks · 10/12/2016 17:48

We put presents for the kids up in the loft once wrapped! My dh hides mine under the bed , I hide his in the wardrobe and presents for other family and friends go under the tree. U agree quality paper is the way to go although we have used cheap for most so far this year as had some left over and on a bit of a budget this month...

Just got home from our festive meal and dh is hoovering the whole house then I'm going to do the ironing while watching a Christmas film. Ironing on a Saturday night... fun times.

Sweepingchange · 10/12/2016 18:15

Gosh, hoovering and ironing after a meal out Foxes such discipline deserves a Star!

Don't think I could resist sneaking a look if I knew my Christmas present was under the bed btw! Grin

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 10/12/2016 19:45

IHi everyone, you all sound very productive.

Brew for you SC and Flowers for your DD Cag Sad. Welcome back Celeste.

Re. wrapped presents, so far I have wrapped nothing but my in laws have left bags of wrapped presents and they are in our bedroom and I have told the DDs not to touch them but they don't feel the safest there! I like the loft idea actually. Theoretically they could go under our bed but it is too full of other junk under there unfortunately!

Ta da:-
Had fab time at party
No need for big tea so can have snack later
DDs asleep
Some study - I did it on my phone on my notes app while DH driving - have resigned myself to working like this or I get nothing done as just can't face it late at night unless am really up against a deadline.
Changed half the sheets - will do our bed tomorrow.

To do:-
Wine - please do have some if you are in naughty corner Xmas Grin.
Go through present box to find a gift voucher for someone
Laundry
Dishwasher
Order my Xmas present from DH - he just doesn't do surprise presents and it used to annoy me, now I embrace it as I can gerbil exactly what I want!
Leave Xmas cards out as really must get DDs to do some tomorrow, plus DD2's spelling homework
Before bed routine
If time... update Xmas shopping list
Investigate what this new Frozen programme is that the Disney channel have emailed me about?????!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 10/12/2016 19:46

Clearly I don't gerbil anything! That was meant to read 'get'!

Sweepingchange · 10/12/2016 20:15

On the contrary Toostressy I think you have started a trend; we should all definitely gerbil what we want Grin Grin

BlueEyeshadow · 10/12/2016 21:49

SC - Glühwein! Wine (the umlaut is optional in English but compulsory in German)

Most presents are bought, but will put off wrapping as long as possible. I actually like to do it all in a splurge, though my back kills afterwards. We also have a real Christmas tree for the first time since DS1 was tiny. Really looking forward to decorating it tomorrow, although we have to buy a stand first!

Bits of the house are now quite tidy, and I have hoovered. I did hope more contribution would be made by other people, but hey ho.

CotswoldStrife · 10/12/2016 23:33

Only achievement today - bought Christmas tree. We went to a farm where they let you wander through the trees, pick one and they cut it down for you. Haven't even finished decorating it yet! Will do that tomorrow.

Links next - I hadn't actually prepped yesterday as much as I thought, needed to change the babystep but I have the days of the week ready with most of the info on. I've just got the missions for next week with the sneak peek so should will do them tomorrow.

Ta for links Cotswold!

Cheers Blue! Think I will be going for last minute wrapping splurge too!

Absolutely sod all achieved today except heating up of soup, far too much Mumsneting and general groaning Grin. Sincerely hoping I feel up to some Flying tomorrow, not least because dh is running out of clean underwear Confused

MercuryRising · 11/12/2016 09:09

Morning lovely fledglings. I have just woken up from a 13 hour sleep Blush I guess it must have been needed. Sorry I didn't manage to get on here on my work days (they just seem to merge in to one)

Sorry to hear you have been so poorly sc. I hope it passes soon. Congratulations on passing the inspection Cag

Yesterday we got some much needed flying done. We had a tidy up downstairs (not that it looks like it now), hoovered throughout and did some ironing.

In keeping with the month's habit I had my hair cut Smile

I also braved the shops and finished buying for the dcs stockings. I have three more presents to buy, so nearly there. I have started wrapping but need to pull my finger out and finish the rest. I wrap mine and leave them in my mums spare room before transporting them over on Christmas Eve. I can't believe it is Christmas Day in two weeks!!

I'm off to do a food shop and tackle Mount Washmore.

foxessocks · 11/12/2016 12:01

mercury excellent nights sleep! Sounds wonderful!

We all had a lie in here too , well ds was up at 5 for a feed but then he went back to bed until 9 and as dd is at her grandparents we all slept in.

We are off to pick dd up in a few hours so this morning I set myself a challenge that I would only do useful things this morning so that when we a get home later we can just relax. So no sitting around this morning unless in feeding the baby (which is what I'm doing now!)

Ta das
Finished the ironing
Put all the ironed clothes away
Folded and put all laundry away

Hmm that doesn't sounds much but it took ages!! Dh has put last few Christmas decorations up, emptied the dishwasher , taken the bins out and is now washing the car. So quite productive really.

Ds is falling asleep now so will have to sit still until I'm safe to put him down and carry on. Wish I'd made a cup of tea now...

foxessocks · 11/12/2016 12:56

Ta das
Dusted living room furniture
Emptied nappy bin
Put washing on
Wrote some Christmas cards
Did some washing up
Sorted out hand bag

Just feeding ds AGAIN and then off out.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

MercuryRising · 11/12/2016 13:55

Ta da
2 washloads
Tumble dryer on
Washing sorted and put away (delegated to dc)
Food shop done with ds
Pile of ironing done and put away
Downstairs hoovered
Dp has prepared a roast

My dad is coming over to watch football this afternoon so the rest of the afternoon should be much needed family time.

Cagliostro · 11/12/2016 17:44

Right, finally caught up on the thread! I had banned myself from reading back while I had to get inspection-ready. But I have designated this weekend as a chilled 2 days, other than laundry, as I'm knackered. Poor DD is in a right state, she's barely moved which just DOES NOT happen ever, she is always cartwheeling or doing handstands etc and is never still. She was still asking to go to the prize giving but I know it was right to say no. We have been watching horrible histories and stuff instead.

Back to it tomorrow though. Really don't want all our hard work to be undone!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 11/12/2016 20:00

Hi everyone, definitely renewed spirit today as had really lovely playdate with friends at soft play which meant we could drink coffee Smile. Cag hope your DD feels better soon, bless her.

Ta da:-
Few Xmas cards started with DD2
DD1 spelling homework
Both DCs asleep
Stripped our bed

To do:-
Update Xmas shopping list
5 mins decluttering
Dishwasher and laundry
Before bed routine
Send an email
Should really study but don't want to!
Find some kind of pampering to do
Put clean sheets on bed

Newchick · 11/12/2016 20:02

Have been bumping along the runway for last few days - sink shining and kitchen floor sweeping done but laundry pretty behind and not a lot of other cleaning done. However have had massive sort out most of yesterday afternoon and evening in dining room cupboards of DOOM. Am also sticking to December goal of 15 mins daily decluttering/deep cleaning of kitchen and am seeing some progress there too.

Jemimapuddingduck · 11/12/2016 20:08

Place marking as I lost the thread last month! Will pop back later to join properly

Muppetslikecoco · 11/12/2016 20:26

I need to joinBlush
Everything seems so hard to keep on top of at the moment. I've done fly lady before and it was very successful but I let it all slide and it's pretty up in the air here.

So, I've shined the sink, set out my clothes for tomorrow and I'm feeling motivated to get into better habits.

CotswoldStrife · 11/12/2016 23:58

Welcome Muppets, good to have you with us.

I will post the links tomorrow, that's what you get for not setting them up in advance Blush Xmas Grin

OP posts:
Muppetslikecoco · 12/12/2016 09:06

Morning! I've been up since half 5 this morning so it's been very productive.

Ta da!
Fed the DC and washed up the pots
Cleaned up a poonami
A load of washing on and now in the dryer
Put DC1 mattress protector back on and made his bed
Stopped the children from pulling the Christmas tree over x10

To do
I'm going to do a carrier bag of clutter a day. I don't have a car so I couldn't get rid of 27 things realistically. But a carrier bag to the charity shop/recycling is doable.
Mop the hallway floor
Clear the bathroom surfaces and swish and swipe.
