My house/Zoflora

1000 replies

TheLionQueen · 20/10/2016 11:28

Posting here for traffic.
My house is a bit horrid. I have pets and a messy DH (who does get on board when I have a proper 'spruce' but doesn't notice the daily grime). I can keep on top of genuine rubbish but clutter builds easily. I know nobody can sort this out for me and I am working on it.
What bothers me most is smell. Although it's clean ish, it doesn't smell fresh. I do open windows for a bit every day.
I bought some miracle potion Zoflora yesterday and already mop the floors with it. I want to know what I can do with it as almost like a reed diffuser/air freshener?
I don't put the heating on much (have a log burner) so don't think putting it on radiators would work. I do hoover relatively regularly so can try the cotton wool trick. Anything else I could try? Is it really safe to spray on curtains? Any other tips for a pet household for smell? Thanks in advance!

I wanted to see how good they are first before I decide to display them in a fancy manner.

TyrionLannistersShadow · 22/10/2016 13:18

I love Zoflora too but we've a very limited range here so it's mostly just hyacinth, linen and Christmas spice. I normally stick to hyacinth which I love but today I bought the Christmas one because it's October so near enough. I usually just use it on the floors or dilute it a bit and wipe down to kitchen, or to give a nice smell I soak a face cloth in a diluted solution and put it on the radiator. When the heat comes on it gives a lovely smell. I also throw a bit in the machine when washing my mop head but I must try it with towels,I never thought of that!

Doesanyoneknowtheanswer · 22/10/2016 13:57

Do you put it in the detergent drawer or in the fabric conditioner drawer??

Haffdonga · 22/10/2016 13:59

OK, so I've just bought the citrus one. Now to destink my doggy house.
Dog bed in the wash first I think.

Bloody hell - this thread is terrifying Shock

So you disinfect everything including the air you breath - that cannot be healthy!

EnidButton · 22/10/2016 14:23

Haven't rtft yet but I will. Just wanted to say that I loathe the smell of zoflora. It makes me literally heave. My DM used to put a drop in the bottom of the sick bucket by our beds if we were ill as she thought it'd be nicer for us but it made me feel 100 times worse. I thought it'd gone out years ago, it's only since looking at the boards in housekeeping that I realised the evil stuff has multiplied and also has different flavoured off-spring and you're all using it all over your houses. GratedCarrotStick · 22/10/2016 14:33

Was anyone else really dissapointed with the Christmas/festive scent?

SauvignonBlanche · 22/10/2016 15:02

I just bough the Winter Morning one but its only October and I've used it already without thinking. Blush That's against the rules and I should really have waited longer, I'm going to Home Bargains to see what other ones they have.
DDog has developed some age-related continence issues and my house stinks so I turned to MN for advice and am no longer a Zoflora virgin. Grin

Starwarsorbaby · 22/10/2016 15:50

Love the winter spice, use it all over, I feel so xmassy 😊 Bulk bought 4 bottles but after reading this thread I definitely need more flavours.

I put it neat on the vacuum filter, smells great but can only smell it when you're vacuuming ring and it only lasted one go. Love putting it on the rads, smells so lush and wintry when the heating comes on.

plimsolls · 22/10/2016 15:55

I just went out to give the baby some fresh air and found myself perusing the zoflora options in the supermarket.

I now have Green Valley for the kitchen (agree with PP it smells of Sunflowers perfume)

Twilight Garden in bathroom

Linen for other rooms/towel washing

Winter Morning for closer to Christmas.

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 22/10/2016 15:59

I love this stuff, country garden and rose are my favourites, not overly keen on the linen one and I dont like any of the festive ones. I'venever come across cherry blossom but really want to try that one now

MrTCakes · 22/10/2016 16:06

I have Linen'd the living room, Spring'd the kitchen and Citrus'd the bathroom. Impressed so far.
Off to work now, will see what the house smells like when I get home tonight.

SoupDragon · 22/10/2016 16:14

Having put some Winter Spice on a cotton wool pad in the hoover and hoovered my bedroom, I now realise I do not like the scent after all!

SauvignonBlanche · 22/10/2016 16:43

I've just been to Home Bargains and came back with Linen and Rose. HVe just spritzed the dog-smelly lounged with the Linen and and am a bit underwhelmed, hope the Rose is better.

Didn't like the smell of the Citrus or Apple one at all, want to try more now!

ReallyShouldKnowBetterAtMyAge · 22/10/2016 16:48

This thread prompted me to thoroughly clean my Dyson so I could Zoflo the filter Smile I'm ashamed to say it was minging.

SirChenjin · 22/10/2016 16:48

I emailed Zoflora - you use it in the fabric conditioner drawer without the fabric conditioner.

Not2bObvious · 22/10/2016 16:57

After reading this thread earlier I went out of my way to buy a bottle (in Ireland so no asda) but had spotted in in Dealz. I've mopped my floor and am basking in the lovely clean smell. I'm dying to try it on bed linen. I've read all the way through but can't see the answer - how much do you add to the fabric softener drawer? 1 capful?

TheLadyWithTheYellowHat · 22/10/2016 17:02

Love washing my bedding with it,I mix it in with my regular fabric softner, just one cap of zoflora.
I wash my entire bathroom with it,tiles, toilet, sink, surfaces
I washed my work uniform in the winter morning one and everyone was asking what my new perfume was Grin

I also poured alot into my black waste bin in the summer when we had maggots, it still stinks of the stuff now Hmm

Not2bObvious · 22/10/2016 17:04

Thanks lady, sadly I can't get to the washing machine until the floor dries😁

SirChenjin · 22/10/2016 17:27

Lady - according to the Zoflora woman you shouldn't mix it with fabric softener. NO idea why! Confused

Obvious - I put 1 or 2 capful in, depending on the size of the load

SirChenjin · 22/10/2016 17:27

No idea why the no was capitalised there!

NoahVale · 22/10/2016 18:00

i bought some but it doesnt last very long. did the bins and the loos and some window sills. but it does encourage me to clean which has to be a first Blush

GladysKravitz · 22/10/2016 18:04

Read this thread yesterday and hot footed it to Homey B's where I found a bottle of the fabled Linen. I've cleaned my kitchen with it but I'm not overwhelmed, it doesn't smell nasty but not amazing either. I am a bit funny with smells though, there are very few perfumes I can tolerate for example, but when I find a smell I like I really like it. I love the scent of Method floor cleaner but I find it's too weak when it's on the floor, I can hardly smell it.

I love the idea of Zoflora and would love to find a scent that I like! I thought I had found it when I saw Winter Spice - I usually love cinnamony spicey scents and it seemed right up my street- but I didn't really like it. Similarly with the cinnamon one.

I really want to try the winter morning one now. I wish they did scratch'sniff boxes or a selection box of sample sizes to try!

NoahVale · 22/10/2016 18:07

i bought Twilight Garden

CurtainsforRonnie · 22/10/2016 18:08

How about a Zoflo Advent calender. 25 tiny bottles of love.
