to ask what household crap brings you joy?

In the vein of KonMari and inspired by the £200 bin. I feel the need to know what else I'm missing out finding joy from otherwise boring yet necessary household crap

I don't have the iron station yet but think it would make my heart sing compared to tripping over how my ironing board iron and laundry is currently stored

Right, I now own a squirty gateway mop, brabantia peg bag and the stamper for camouflaging personal details on post.

Next up, the Ikea shoe boxes with the drop-down front.

I need to unbookmark this thread before I end up the proud owner of a £200 bin.

afterthegoldrush · 07/04/2016 13:24

I have well thumbed Lakeland and ikea catalogues by the side of my bed - DH calls it my porn stash Hmm

But my favourite thing is small really - it was given to me by a friend as a joke gift. A box of small post it notes - different colours and sizes.

I am doing my last year at uni and this box of tricks has become my saviour- I can highlight different discourses within the books I am working from - tis a wonder

PuppyMonkey · 07/04/2016 13:27

Squirty mop arrived and just used it. Good times. Grin

yoomoo · 07/04/2016 14:27

I am SUCH a sheep! My squirty vileda mop has just arrived, I bet they are puzzled by the sudden increase in sales Grin arriving tomorrow is a plastic cosmetics organiser from Amazon for my new dressing table. I already have a Dyson handheld but it doesn't have the long stick so am currently resisting the temptation of buying the V6 Animal from the Dyson Outlet on EBay mentioned up thread!

eitak22 · 07/04/2016 15:44

Am so glad someone mentioned the toaster tongs from Lakeland, i bought them whilst on holiday and love them.

Other things have to be my Andrew James mixer/blender/sausage maker. Its fab and feel like a lot more cakes shall be baked!

shoulddobetta · 07/04/2016 16:51

If anyone is daring enough to buy the bin try Binopolis. I found it the cheapest option and amazing customer service!

willhazboz · 07/04/2016 17:31

Yoomoo I was thinking the same. Bet vileda are scratching their heads!

I found it in the range for £17.99.

WhoKnowsWhereTheT1meGoes · 07/04/2016 17:38

We need a new bin......

AppleSetsSail · 07/04/2016 18:43

Does the squirty mop leave a residue? Does it have a disposable cleaning cloth? How much ground can you cover?

SpaceKablooie · 07/04/2016 18:56

Can someone please link to a camouflage stamper? I need one Smile.

LemonRedwood · 07/04/2016 18:58

I got this one SpaceKablooie
www.ryman.co.uk/camouflage-roller-stamp

SpaceKablooie · 07/04/2016 19:01

Thanks Lemon!

ButterfliesinSpring · 07/04/2016 20:17

I'm getting the stamp, the gateway mop, the light/dark/colours laundry bin, the window vac if it's still half price and I will be saving for a reconditioned cordless dyson!!! Grin

I borrowed my parents window vac today and loved it. My husband said 'ah we can just borrow it from them every couple of months' why doesn't he understand I NEED my own???

love the nesting baking tray system on page 13!

My favourite things are:
Silicon spatula for getting things out the food processor. So satisfying.
www.amazon.co.uk/Kitchen-Craft-Colourworks-Silicone-Spatula/dp/B00429WK3A

Joseph Joseph nesting bowls.

This super easy to use and easy to clean mandolin

The little shelf things you out in kitchen cupboards to make extra space. I have my spices all in top-labelled (ink and sticky paper labels only unfort) in plastic trays and use those shelf things to make addition layers.

Also love my plate stacker, amazing how much space it saves and time as no longer have to move the little plates to get to the big plates.

In my next flat I shall buy a cordless Dotson and a heated clothes dryer.

UKcanuck · 07/04/2016 22:00

@bananafish I'm with you. Love labelling everything. Others think it's sad. What's wrong with them? :-)

Haloqueen · 07/04/2016 22:20

Bought a cordless dyson fluffy 2 days ago.....There are no words to describe how easy it is now to hoover.Am running it round for few minutes every day.I used to HATE HATE hoovering sooo much.Have 2 dogs and 2 cats and to see the pet hair swivelling round the little cylinder box is just eye watering but strangely satisfying.I adore this product and give it Star Star Star Star Star

yoomoo · 08/04/2016 06:54

Thanks to halo I'm going to order the Dyson animal V6 and sell my other one but how do I integrate it into the house without DH noticing Grin I don't think he'll believe me if I say the handheld was always purple!

Smeldra · 08/04/2016 10:25

Oh dear lord I love this thread. I have utility room jealousy, pantry jealousy, Ikea trolley jealousy

Smeldra · 08/04/2016 10:26

I do already have a Dyson though Grin

MrsHathaway · 08/04/2016 14:34

Oh dear. Turns out you can get the camouflage roller stamp on Amazon.

On DH's one-click Amazon Prime. Ahem. It'll be here on Monday.

wizzywig · 08/04/2016 14:40

I love having a downstairs hoover and an upstairs one.

boodles · 08/04/2016 16:21

My insinkerator waste disposal unit. Love it, no more caddies of waste food hanging about.

Catscatsandmorecats · 08/04/2016 17:17

What a brilliant thread - it is making me very very happy Grin.

I NEED a dymo labelling machine banana you have reminded me of this and it has reignited my love for them.

We had our utility room done last year and I am never happier than when I am using it for its correct purpose - cleaning tack. It also has one of these: www.pulleymaid.com/classic_clothes_airer.htm I took great pleasure in tying knots at two different places for easy hanging and airing.

And few things make me smile more than my wooden steps from John Lewis that turn into a chair. Oh the satisfaction of having steps to reach things in the kitchen and an extra chair just there when you need it!

MrsHathaway · 08/04/2016 17:25

DH has just rang to say there's some suspicious activity on his credit card and Amazon account and is it me.

Erm, yes.
