to ask what household crap brings you joy?

In the vein of KonMari and inspired by the £200 bin. I feel the need to know what else I'm missing out finding joy from otherwise boring yet necessary household crap

I don't have the iron station yet but think it would make my heart sing compared to tripping over how my ironing board iron and laundry is currently stored

bettyberry Forget potato ricers, what you want is one of these

ClaraLane · 03/04/2016 18:57

If anyone is looking at buying the Tefal Ingenio pans then they're loooooads cheaper on French Amazon: www.amazon.fr/gp/aw/d/B01AHQZMN6/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1459706169&sr=8-2&pi=SX200_QL40&keywords=tefal+ingenio&dpPl=1&dpID=419z1zxWduL&ref=plSrch

BoatyMacBoatFace · 03/04/2016 19:25

Blimey those pans are cheap on Amazon France! I wonder if they would deliver to the UK?

BeALert · 03/04/2016 19:29

I love this thread.

My most wonderful household thing is a laundry room. I have washer, dryer, drying rack, sink, cupboards for storing out-of-season clothes, and long poles for either hanging shirts on hangers or for hanging big things like sheets over.

May we have a photo of your cupboard please?!

TheDevilMadeMeDoIt · 03/04/2016 19:38

On a different planet to utility rooms, ironing stations and the like....

I bought a stamper thing that obliterates the names and addresses on junk and other mail. Best £10 I ever spent. No more chopping them up to prevent ID fraud.

I used to let the stuff build up and then have a massive shredding session about twice a year. Now I can't wait for it to land through the letterbox so that I can stamp it.

BagpussOhhearwhatISing · 03/04/2016 19:55

Oooh lemonredwood I came on specially to tell bettyberry about that.
I love it.....best ever mash potato, swede etc, and also great for whizzing up beans, chickpeas etc.
This thread is costing me a fortune Grin
However, my favourite is my brand new Kitchenaid.......fortieth birthday present from DH. Friends are all Hmm but he knows how sad on trend I am.

Grapefruit8 · 03/04/2016 19:58

Whattamunter I love my new cordless Dyson more than my husband" HAHAHA Smile

bettyberry · 03/04/2016 20:01

BagpussOhhearwhatISing and lemonredwood I now need a bigger kitchen because of you! Grin

camelfinger · 03/04/2016 20:02

I have these kitchen scales www.johnlewis.com/joseph-joseph-foldable-triscale-white/p231575556. I got them when they were on offer, so about £22 I think. They fold up very small.

willhazboz · 03/04/2016 20:06

This thread may bankrupt me! I started sorting the utility room today so I can sort some storage things out for it. Not sure what I can dream up yet!

I am also depressed that nothing massively sparks joy for me!

WaitrosePigeon · 03/04/2016 20:17

This brings me immense joy. It's a Bosch Styline kettle.

I bought that cupboard shelf thingy up thread for storing all my mugs. They used to stacked up all over each other but no it looks like a proper grown ups cupboard. I love it.

I had quite a Lakeland habit a few years ago, this thread is dragging me back in.

I don't even like washing up bowls and I've got my eye on the JJ one.

MrsGaryKemp · 03/04/2016 20:25

I like the idea of that stamp to obliterate addresses - where was that from???

DisappointedOne · 03/04/2016 20:25

However, my favourite is my brand new Kitchenaid.......fortieth birthday present from DH.

Mine was from DH after I told him I didn't want any more diamonds. Grin

LemonRedwood · 03/04/2016 20:28

Bagpuss My mum bought me mine for Christmas and I've just bought my friend one for her birthday! Kitchen gadgets are very welcome gifts amongst my family and friends!

TheDevilMadeMeDoIt · 03/04/2016 20:30

MrsKemp - Rymans. It's wonderful!

Sundaysmumisfullofwine · 03/04/2016 20:35

Boaty I love that cosmetics caddy. I'm going to have to buy one now. Or maybe 2.

Girlwithnotattoos · 03/04/2016 20:51

I'm currently in love with my Karcher windrow vac. Bought it this week and have effortlessly cleaned all the windows, showers and conservatory - this had never all been completed in the same week before Blush. It's amazing I wish I'd bought one years ago.

flingingmelon · 03/04/2016 20:54

Okay, my decade ++ stain is dead. Which cordless one should I buy?

I'm in love with my Lakeland heated airer. If DH ever complains about it I look at him like he's insulted my baby.

flingingmelon · 03/04/2016 20:55

Stain?! Dyson!

BoatyMacBoatFace · 03/04/2016 20:56

It really is fab Sunday.

I put contact lenses in one drawer, single eyeshadows in another and perfume samples in the third.

Then foundation, brushes, primers, mascara and lipsticks in the top.

I think my DGM bought it from House of Bath for about £25 but it's exactly the same as the one in Argos.

The front of one drawer did fall off but nothing a drop of glue didn't fix. And better than the clear acrylic ones I think.

BoatyMacBoatFace · 03/04/2016 21:01

Ooh I nearly forgot this.

Bissell Rechargeable Carpet Sweeper

Awesome. Picks up dog hairs and better than getting the Dyson out all the time.

I know some people have cordless Dysons and I'd love one, but my corded one is only a year or so old so I can't really replace it yet.

ButterfliesinSpring · 03/04/2016 21:03

You know the first thing I'm doing when I win the lottery? Coming right to this thread

Forget flash cars and holidays - I shall be buying the shit out of household usefulness
