to ask what household crap brings you joy?

In the vein of KonMari and inspired by the £200 bin. I feel the need to know what else I'm missing out finding joy from otherwise boring yet necessary household crap

I don't have the iron station yet but think it would make my heart sing compared to tripping over how my ironing board iron and laundry is currently stored

WaitrosePigeon I have that kettle (in white) and it is a thing of beauty!
Love the different temperatures and the "keep warm" function.

FinallyFreeFromItAll · 03/04/2016 21:59

Do the karcher window vacs really work? No streaks or droplets let behind? Are they easy to use?

Think I need one now.

I also like the look of that electric masher although I have finally found a good hand one (went through 5 to find one that was good enough for me).

It looks like they do deliver here though Maryz

I need that window vac in my life!

YesThisIsMe · 03/04/2016 22:36

Look what I got!

Unfortunately John Lewis and Debenhams conspired against me and would not sell me the sandwich toaster as per Fantastically Delicious Goodies You Must Cook In Your Sandwich Toaster thread.

Also, while I'm taking photos, I love my pull out spice cupboard.

How much do Amazonne de la France charge to send those magic pans to UK?
.. Gets out card de credit....

NameChanger22 · 03/04/2016 22:47

This channel is for anyone that has 10 shops worth of makeup and doesn't know how to store it.

freshprincess · 03/04/2016 22:50

So I'm now in the market for pan lid storage thingy and a fat collector thing. I actually need a new bin but Now ive had a glimpse of bin utopia on the £200 thread, Wilkos is just not doing it for me. I want extra drawers and food caddies and all that stuff.

I'm flirting with a new mop, and shower screen is a horror show so that squeegy thing looks like a go.

I've wanted a label maker for ever, but I can't think of a single thing I want to actually label. Ditto laminator, but we've got one of them at work so I can get my fix there.

ClutterofStarlings · 03/04/2016 23:12

I think the Window vac works really well, like I say, it's a pleasure as it does what it should without being temperamental. I get little drops left at the very edges sometimes, and sometimes the bottoms, but really nothing I can get worked up about. Does the bathroom tiles a treat.
The chamber isn't huge, but I don't find that an issue as only using for condensation. Might be a pain if you were actually washing the windows. If you have small panes of glass measure first as the blade is quite wide.

RomComPhooey · 03/04/2016 23:18

I have a grooming room for my dogs. A whole room dedicated just to them. It's my happy place.

This made me smile. We stay on a farm with SC cottages that offers pony grooming sessions as an activity for the kids. The last time we visited with friends, friend and I accompanied our youngest sons who are fond of ponies. After about half an hour of happy chatter and pony grooming, friend and I realised that we were the only ones left and all the children had gone to play on the swings. The woman who supervises this session said it was surprisingly common. She wasn't in any hurry, so we kept going. The ponies had gone into a trance-like state and were very chilled out. I feel happy just thinking about it, so I totally get your happy place comment, PP.

Really tempted by a window vac.

Loving this thread so much.

Fantastically Delicious Goodies You Must Cook In Your Sandwich Toaster

Can you link to that please? I can't find it and it sounds good.

evelynj · 04/04/2016 00:28

Ooh waitrose I bought the Styline kettle the other day too-wanted it a month ago when our old kettle broke but couldn't find it anywhere in cream so bought another cream cheap kettle & glared at it until Argos got the Styline back In on Friday. Dh was 👺 about my buying Another kettle but then v pleased as his new coffee gadget instructed him to use water at 80 degrees!

Also love my nice compost bin for the kitchen & nigella salt pig-2 things I dithered over for actual years worried they'd be a waste of money but LOVE them!

ShtoppenDerFloppen · 04/04/2016 00:32

This may sound silly, but I LOVE my spaetzle maker.

I used to push the dough (batter?) through a colander, which was messy and insanely cumbersome. I bought myself the spaetzle maker, and it makes me inappropriately happy.

ShtoppenDerFloppen · 04/04/2016 00:36

Oh... and my tiny mortar and pestle that I bought off eBay for next to nothing.

I use it to grind DD's tablets into dust before I put them through her gastrostomy tube. I have had it for several years and have dropped and broken the pestle at least twice and keep thinking about buying a second one.

However, for now every clumsy moment has been fixed with glue.

God! That JJ bread bin is a beauty! And the Ingenio Tefal.
And the cordless Dyson.

That's going to take some overtime, that!

Decanter · 04/04/2016 08:10

Right here we go - my tuppence....

I already have the JJ bowl and caddy, cordless dyson, brabantia peg bag, oxo squeegee and JLewis double hyacinth laundry basket.

Bringing to the table; branantia wallfix wall mounted clothes line and cheapy collapsible crate from B&Q for carting laundry around the house - folds flat and hangs in a wee space in my boiler cupboard when not in use. Genius.

DH's favourite gadgety kitchen is the JJ extending/folding trivet. It's pretty cool.

Now. Thanks to ye feckers on this thread, I googled the clothes line to find out it's proper name - and discovered I can by a wall mounted storage box thingy to keep it clean etc for a mere £56. And here I was being all smug that this thread hadn't cost me anything yet!!

My new kettle. I don't know why but it makes me happy to look at it.

The simple human swing top counter bin for tea bags is good too. Plus it goes in the dw. I'm not sure if they meant it to go in a dw but it's survived the last 3 years.

ManicPixieDream · 04/04/2016 08:45

Oh shiteforbrains, that's actually what I needed to hear. I'm very skint this month and was convincing myself that a Karcher window vac would change my life. Even if I buy it I now realise I'll still be a lazy mare with scruffy windows. So thank you. I'm not even looking at the Lake land site. I'll go back to Pinterest fantasies.

MaisieDotes · 04/04/2016 08:54

shite I came to the same realisation with my two ( Blush ) steam mops. It turns out that it wasn't the mop and bucket that was preventing me washing my floors, just laziness.

I do very, very much want a cordless Dyson, but the reality of the situation is that unless it actually hops off the wall by itself and takes itself around the house then I'll be wasting my money.

whatsonyourplate · 04/04/2016 09:04

I love looking at the Lakeland catalogue but I usually find the stores a bit of a dissapointment. It might just be me I'm very much an online shopper, I get flustered in real life shops.
