Seeing as the sun is shining I decided to start my spring clean today! Aiming to do a deep clean of one room every couple of days to fit around work and family life. Anyone fancy joining me for encouragement and general chat about progress?! Smile

Hello, I am still here, working hard at the moment but the work on the house is done thank goodness. It does show up what else needs doing though. I feel like painting every wall in the house white for a bright clean look (actually, it would suit our house)
Raining here so I plan to give the fridge an audit and put the drawers through the dishwasher ready for the weekend big shop. It has been a frantic week ad I am very much looking forward to a G & T later and some silly telly!

Quickchangeup · 15/04/2016 17:39

Hello everyone! I'm still here! I've been busy with home improvements rather than cleaning, choosing some new furniture and compiling lists of diy that needs attending to this year-things like painting garden fencing etc. It's been lovely to have had cleaned things so thoroughly that a quick sweep is all that needs doing each day. Ive made a cleaning schedule which I'll try to stick with going forward saddo
Grumpy- I've toyed with the idea of painting it all white, but I think our walls aren't perfect enough and it'll show every bump up! I have painted the hallway and my bedroom in a very almost white. It definitely brightens it all up!

Hi everyone, I hope the weather is as sunny where you are as it is here!

I've not done much cleaning lately apart from the everyday tasks, but I've cleared a lot. Over the weekend I turned out the two cupboards under the stairs and have discarded so much stuff, loads of old paperwork got shredded, shoes and hats etc have gone into the charity bag, other rubbish has been binned or recycled. The two cupboards are now clear! They were jam-packed before. Then this morning, I pulled out everything from the upper shelf inside my wardrobe. It's pretty clear upstairs but this was one place that had a few things lying around. I've totally cleared it, gave some things away at the school gates and binned the rest. I think I'm becoming addicted to de-cluttering! I think I'm also becoming a bit more "hardened" to getting rid of things, I've managed to discard stuff that I never would have before. Quickchangeup, you are definitely due a lot of credit with regards to how the state of my house has improved - this thread gave me a push!

Quickchangeup · 19/04/2016 21:09

Hi london! So glad you've found the thread helpful and you are pleased with your newly clutter free house! its amazing the difference having a clearer home makes!
I've moved onto planning refurbishment and rearranging. Got some new furniture on order so it's all quite exciting! Cleaning wise I'm still finding it so easy to keep on top of things apart from the flippin ironing Smile

Ive finally made a start in between 2x girls in nappies/bottles a messy smelly 5 year old boy, a dusty plumber husband and 5 dogs lol x

So i hate clutter so it's not like I've had to throw anything away I just like ALL drawers and wardrobes organised and I hate things under the kids beds and stuff cos I like to be able to hover easily under there.

I started with the girls room, LOVE rearranging furniture every time I scrub a room lol anyone else the same? I've build the newborns cot even tho she won't be in it for 6 months but I felt better in my brain knowing it's ready to go, organised all drawers, nappies and wipes all hidden away just cute ornaments out Smile

Yesterday I tackled my room because I seem to spend a lot of time in there at the moment Feeding bubba watching Netflix sorted all my makeup into individual tubs I.e skin, eyes, lipsticks, I REALLY tried to sort handbags but just can't part with any Blush and I have a lot! Maybe one day I'll realise that I use 2 handbags a year Wink oh I even polished all my perfume bottles and displayed them on a shelf!

So I've been up since 2am and seem to be on abit of a high, anyone have that effect sometimes? Sometimes the more sleep I have the more tired I feel? Going to tackle the bathroom today, and I've found some cute glass jars, I'm going to feel one with earbuds, 1 with cotton pads etc...

Keep telling me what your up to for inspiration pretty please! X

Grumpyoldblonde · 22/04/2016 14:36

Candlefairy are you some kind of super ninja wonderwoman? Smile get some rest woman!!
I am fighting my family right now, I love a clean, calm home and they are utterly incapable of using a laundry basket. I work hard, do all the shopping etc. so is it really too much to ask them to put dirty clothes in that great big wicker basket that is right there?
I have been a bit quieter with work which was some reason makes me lazier, I think I need to be busy to keep up momentum but when it is only me who cares I can't help wonder what's the point. Sorry for the moan, the weather is making me grumpy (grumpier than usual!)

Quickchangeup · 22/04/2016 16:56

Wow candlefairy are you actually Wonder Woman?! You sound much like me in that you like things away and organised. I've got so much satisfaction from the cleaning and organising of the past few weeks! My next project is creating a sort of walk in wardrobe in my DDs room. She was a recessed area which has had a frame and doors fitted but insider just a shelf and a rail running the length. I'm removing this and fitting it out inside so that it will house all her clothes and shoes, as well as an area for toy storage. This will free up another recess space where drawers currently are and allow me to move her toys from the living areas up into her room.
grumpy we have exactly the same issue with washing in this house. It would appear I own a stealth wicker wash basket that only I can actually see and use!!!Grin

Quickchangeup · 24/04/2016 20:30

candle-did the rocket arrive last night?! Grin
I'm going to get back on it this week. My kitchen needs a good go over. All beds were stripped and fresh linen on today. Currently tackling the bloody ironing pile yet again!

What time of day are you most productive? Sometimes I try and start the day as I mean to go on but sometimes I get at night when I'm supposed to settle down for bed I get an urge to buckle down and clean!

I end up ignoring nighttime cleaning because I know I have to sleep for the next day and then I wake in the morning and can't be bothered and kick myself for not doing it the night before!

Some mornings I wake up raring to go, others I waste time on stupid stuff whilst thinking I should be doing ....
Sometimes I get a second wind after dinner and happily blitz something for an hour.
Today I'm so tired, I couldn't get to sleep last night. So I've been to work, loaded the dishwasher and got a couple of washes done but in all honesty I wish I could just crawl into my bed! Doesn't help that it's freezing! I'm sure with a teeny baby you are much better off going to bed of an evening than cleaning!

I know that's true, but tonight I keep thinking if I get it all done tonight at least I can think about leaving the house tomorrow, I hate leaving and coming home to mess!

I just polished the hall way and scrubbed the bathroom while husband here to have the youngest, it's so difficult trying to clean and my god it takes 2 hours just to get out the house!

Sorry I've not been here for ages, it's been a bit hectic round at mine lately but it's all calmed down now. Is anyone still around?

Candlefairy101 · 05/05/2016 21:55

Yea I am Smile sounds mad but I'm currently cleaning the playroom, I mean every inch Blush while the kids are asleep, seems to be the only time I can get anything done, sometimes I have to way up sleep or stress of mess

Quickchangeup · 05/05/2016 22:52

Howdy london and candle!
I'm still here, got loads done recently but didn't update for fear I'd be speaking to myself! Main project was my DD room which has had everything sorted, stuff bagged for charity, hand me downs to pass on, a mound of soft toys discretely removed and bagged up in the loft! She now has a lovely walk in ish wardrobe/toy storage meaning that floor space has been freed up. Today I spent the morning going through all my clothes, bagged few bits for charity and swapped out winter stuff for summer stuff. I've been really ruthless with my clothes, getting rid of things that didn't fit right or I'd not worn in the past year. I now have a very small capsule wardrobe but I'm happy with that.
candle make sure you are getting enough rest, I know what you mean about stress of mess but you do have a young baby! Don't wear yourself out!

Checking in today with a news that I finally got my kitchen sorted! Today I've wiped everything down, cleaned the cooker and washed the floors. Washed the window area and sill. Binned some junk. Very therapeutic and now it looks so fresh and bright! Only managed to do it as kids had school meal today so only wanted cold picnic food, meaning I had a free hour off of cooking to quickly whip around. Glad I did that rather than waste time on the Internet!!! Anyone else have anything to report?

Petal40 · 06/05/2016 22:17

I've 18 yrs of stuff and clutter...can't clean even if I wanted to,until l have declutterd..I just don't know where to start....

Quickchangeup · 07/05/2016 08:46

Hi petal40 the thread is still going! It went a bit quiet but a few of us are still here!
My advice would be grab a roll of bin bags, pick a room and be ruthless! Decluttering makes keeping the house clean so much easier!

Ladies this lovely sunshine has completely stopped my cleaning, I can't bring myself to go inside and sort because you never know when this weather will disappear again WineCake

LondonCharlady · 08/05/2016 17:42

Hello! You're so right about the weather, it's made me really lazy. I'm going to get back on track tomorrow, it's lovely to see how some of you have sorted the house out and are now progressing onto DIY and other things. I'm also looking to start some of that as well, get the jobs done that have been lurking at the back of my mind for ages. I'm also looking to start improving my fitness level, I get out of breath very quickly and I want to change that. Perhaps we could all report back regarding the cleaning plus anything else we're working on, it'll be nice to cheer each other on!

Tomorrow I'm going to do another complete clean upstairs, so pretty much everything I listed in my first progress update. I'll also get the school uniforms washed (we'll be using the Summer uniform tomorrow, so haven't washed the regular stuff yet), then probably salad for dinner so I won't have so much preparation or clearing up to do! What are everyone's aims for this week? Petal40, welcome to the thread!

LondonCharlady · 10/05/2016 12:59

Haven't quite managed all my aims as I've been stopped in my tracks by illness - sometimes I feel like I'm constantly catching bugs, it feels like that at the moment. Felt awful yesterday and this morning, but I think I'm on the mend now. Please tell me about your latest achievements, I want to be inspired!

FastWindow · 10/05/2016 13:04

You lovely ladies have inspired me to do a massive clothes and toys cull . Im off work with severe stress atm, so if i can get the house sorted, ill feel more in control. I hope!

No time like the present! Off i go!
