Seeing as the sun is shining I decided to start my spring clean today! Aiming to do a deep clean of one room every couple of days to fit around work and family life. Anyone fancy joining me for encouragement and general chat about progress?! Smile

Well so far I have spoken to the DC about how important it is we have a tidy day today so we don't have to spend all weekend doing it. They seem OK with this.

I have rounded up lots of washing and it's waiting outside the machine. One load is in and one is in the dryer. There had been two dry folded piles in the kitchen and one on the stairs. These have all been sent to the correct bedroom

Everyone has had breakfast

I'm going to tackle yesterday and this morning's pots now

It's so sunny and nice here. And we're cleaning!

DH is doing the kitchen.
DS is doing his room.
I'm sorting DD's old clothes for charity/storage.

Then we're swapping round some shelves so DS has more storage space and we're using his old shelves to give DD her own bookshelf in the living room.

Think I'll do a dump run or two to stop the green bin getting full when we have another 3 weeks until collection.

Morning, I will confess to feeling a bit smug earlier in the thread when so many were unwell and I was thinking 'not me, I am fit and raring to go' well, karma has bitten me on the bum and we are all poorly. I am not too bad, so will get the laundry done and have a wipe over the surfaces but then it will be films and chocolate all afternoon. (And wiping my daughters brow/skivvying for her)
Hope everyone has a good day.

Sorry to hear you are all unwell grumpy. I'm also now not feeling great, it always happens when I get some down time! I've been so stressed the past few weeks and now my poor body is starting to tell me to chill the heck out! We have some home improvements scheduled in for the long weekend. DH and eldest have just headed off to buy what's needed and me and my littlest are going to the supermarket. No food in as I've been so disorganised of late!
Anyway hope everyone has a productive day today whatever it is you are doing!

Beautiful Good Friday, so moving preps suspended for the day. Lovely walk in the morning, off to work this afternoon. Till next time, peeps - happy Easter!

Dilemma.
Which is less appealing: continuing the moving sort out, or doing the client work that I should have done last Tuesday and which is the most boring prospect on the planet?
Client is relying on me, however, so in I go. Ho hum.
Back to packing boxes tomorrow, then.

I am working today, I work from home though but I am struggling to get motivated. We all have sore throats still but the house is not too bad, although my daughter doesn't seem to realise that blowing your nose on the duvet cover is not the best way to deal with a cold! The house looks ok but feels germy so I think I will slosh some Zoflora around to kill the bugs and make it smell fresher.
Weather is grim which doesn't exactly make me feel like getting on and doing stuff.

Work done. Family all plonked in front of sport of some description. T20 cricket, I think. Solitary walk to the charity shop, then, I think. Sighs.

Hope all the poorly people are feeling better and wishing everyone a happy, peaceful Easter!Easter Smile

Inspire me spring cleaners! Empty house today and no work, no visiting til later... Perfect opportunity to get off my arse and do some cleaning! Zero energy or motivation today.

Quickchangeup · 27/03/2016 14:54

How's it going damsen? Have you managed to get motivated to do any cleaning?! We don't have any guests or anything going on today. The kids are happy watching movies and eating chocolate with DH, so whilst they are occupied I am sneakily going through all their toys and "stuff". I filled 2 black sacks, which is unbelievable as their rooms looked tidy! Filled a huge box with outgrown toys and clothes. I've also reorganised the utility room and given it a clean and I'm about to tackle the hell that is otherwise known as under the stairs. Weather here is so miserable so plans to get out in the fresh air have been shelved! Hope everyone is having a nice day!

Well Quick, I've done near enough bugger all. I scrubbed the carpet by the patio doors that the puppy had ruined by piddling on it, so that looks ten times better, and I've done two loads of washing.
Then I visited grandparents, ate too much chocolate, picked up DP from work and came home. Were currently snuggled on the sofa, in pjs and blankets with the dog, binge-watching homeland on Netflix.

So, no, no cleaning got done really!

Ah well damsen, it sounds like you've had a lovely day! Apart from cleaning puppy piddles maybe! Enjoy your evening, there's always tomorrow! Wink

Morning spring cleaners! Hope everyone has had a good Easter weekend. I've made lots of progress so I'll update here what's done: Hallway extending upstairs, Downstairs loo,Living room,Dining room,
Utility room are all finished.
Still needing a deep clean is the kitchen. Also bedrooms have been cleared and cleaned but are awaiting me changing the bed linen. I will take curtains down to wash also.
Once inside the house is done I will move in to outside, garden, conservatory, shed etc but I will leave all of this until the DC are back at school.
Anyone else what to update their progress?!

Today I've stripped and remade beds, put all towels on a hot wash and emptied out the airing cupboard and rearranged it-it just wasn't working for me before!

Got to go out now but will be back later, eager to hear everyone's progress I really need to actually get a life

Ahhhhhh! My lovely clean house is now a tip - due to illness and workmen. I will have to rejoin the thread next week as right now I would be wasting my time doing anything other than keeping a basic level of hygiene.

Hello, I'm back!

Over a week since I last posted and shamefully I don't even have that much to report - I was out and about a lot over the Bank Holiday weekend, apart from that I've done the usual things like washing dishes, food shopping etc, but I haven't made any great strides with the cleaning and clearing. My eldest had a lot of homework which she needed help with, so my time was spent on that as well.

Thank you for your post about passing on baby things, Grumpy, this is definitely what I need to be doing. The clutter would be totally reduced in my house if I could get rid of all the children's old things. When I brought the toys in from the garage the other day, they were overjoyed and have since been playing with them - I should have sorted through them when I was alone!

Am hoping to get a few things done today, I'll update later. Have a good day everyone, and a big welcome to the newcomers!

Hi London, welcome back! I'm taking a back seat with the cleaning now the DC are off school. I'm just doing the usual day to day stuff BUT it is amazing how much easier it is and how much nicer the entire house feels! So glad I made such a good start before Easter holiday kicked in.
Grumpy, how's the works going? Is the end in sight yet?!
I'm off out with DC to spend their pocket money and do a food shop-they eat soooo much!!! Have a good day everyone!

Chaos continues to reign at the Grumpy residence but things are starting to take shape, will rejoin the thread properly next week.
Still germy here too and have just realised that April is going to be a very tight month money wise due to the work being done, already looking forward to next payday and we will be making good use of Iceland this month, I shall have to give Sainsbury a swerve, but we shan't starve.

Report
Quickchangeup · 01/04/2016 18:44

grumpy Iceland do a really nice quinoa bean thing, makes brilliant filling for stuffed peppers with some breadcrumbs and cheese on top! Even though it'll be a tight month once the work is done I'm sure you'll be pleased!!! Hope the germs leave you alone soon. Smile
