Woo hoo! It's the second Bullet Journal thread! For the benefit of newbies - Bullet Journal is a brilliant way to organise your whole life in a lovely notebook. Perfect for anyone who has tried every app and every scheduling system but just can't seem to get on top of things. Also perfect for lovers of beautiful stationery and especially for people who like lists!

Sooo - get out your fineliners and your washi tape! Stroke your Leuchtturms! And get all that stuff that's whizzing round in your head out onto paper instead!

Try "Leuchtturm 1917" A5 size notebook, most of us seem to prefer the dotted pages.
Lots of colours, £12.90 on Ebay.
You can also buy pen loop (same brand), cheapest I found also on Ebay for £2.45.
Good luck

mercifulTehlu · 26/02/2016 17:09

Bloody hell - thread is busy today! Welcome newbies! Plum - 'I'm saving the stroking until later' sounds like a whole other kind of thread WinkGrin

The news fron chez Tehlu is that someone went and nicked my prospective job before the agency had finished processing my forms. Which is a bit annoying. Except that someone I know who works there said I've had a lucky escape Shock.

Soooo... looks like I'll have plenty of time for BuJoing.

Thanks very much zing Flowers

I was in an interview and I was asked about my admin experience.

I got my BuJo into the response.

Get in.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 26/02/2016 17:21

my BuJo is A6 size which fits nicely into my handbag (I had to switch to a small cross body bag due to shoulder and neck problems, so I can't lug around too much weight/bulk in my bag). And I stroke it lots, although not in public, and it's leather cover smell absolutely gorgeous Smile.

I'm mainly using it as a daily to do list, but I have a second notebook at the back which is my "lists of lists" eg everything I need to redecorate in the house; everything i need to do in the garden, so as the front notebook fills up, I'll still have the long term lists.

For someone who asked earlier about Midori BuJos - it's basically a leather cover with elastic cords to hold separate notebooks inside. I have the cord doubled round, so it holds two notebooks, but i could add more cord if I felt I needed a third book. I made mine myself, but look on Etsy for "fauxdori" to see ones other people have made.

plumstone · 26/02/2016 17:26

Tehlu - what I do with my BuJo on a Friday night is my own issue!! Grin Good luck with job hunting - maybe go for someone in organising/planning and scheduling - which I feel would be the perfect job, I do a fair bit as it stands, but to do it all day would be awesome!!!

ChristinaRosetti · 26/02/2016 17:26

I have the house to myself with no kids distractions and my bujo! My favourite part of the day!

mercifulTehlu · 26/02/2016 17:30

Wow - go Doreen! Spreading the BuJo word even in interviews - now that is committed!

My BuJo is A5 with 30 lines per page. It is a tan faux leather one with a large gold embossed Hogwarts crest on the front and Harry Potter illustrations on the end papers Blush. I aspire to a Leuchtturm for my next one. Not sure which colour though...

Way to go Doreen Grin
As long as they didn't mishear it for Cujo

justkeeponsmiling · 26/02/2016 17:42

Thank you Mook and Merci and everyone else for the suggestions. I'm ridiculously excited about choosing a journal now!

Babieseverywhere · 26/02/2016 18:24

Would someone be kind enough to explain the Megalist to me ?

Spillette · 26/02/2016 18:56

Ohmygod. I'd never heard of this until I saw it in active threads, but I want it in my life. I need a new notebook. And a special pen. And I need them NOW. Or at least really early tomorrow. I'm giddy, I've got butterflies.

DoreenLethal · 26/02/2016 19:00

As long as they didn't mishear it for Cujo

I didn't shorten it to BuJo. In fact I said 'Bullet' pause 'Journal'. Then put my right hand on my journal, opened it and showed them my planning pages.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 26/02/2016 19:02

Babies the Megalist is just a huge list of all the little annoying jobs that need doing and always slip your mind. The original idea was on the original Organised People thread and someone's friend had made the original Megalist, slowly worked through it over about 4 months, and since then her life has run much more smoothly as she sort of caught up on all the clutter in her mind.

Mine is mainly all about the house, divided room by room. Eg get doorbell to work, put pegs up in hallway, put light under stairs.

But of course, as with the bullet journal as a whole, the beauty is you can make it what you want to suit you.

ZappDingbat · 26/02/2016 19:04

Doreen, that has got to get you the job. I don't care what your CV looks like or how much you polished your shoes, it sounds like such a suave move to put your right hand on your bujo and open it to share your planning pages!

Keep us posted on the outcome, it might be the new way to swing an interview. Grin

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 26/02/2016 20:03

Doreen

I agree with Zapp
That's like revealing you have the Holy Grail or that you are Bond, Jane Bond.
Did it start to glow like the Magic key?
Grin
They have to offer you the job. Fx and pen caps clicked.

mercifulTehlu · 26/02/2016 20:16

Spillette - glad to see that you are greeting the concept of BuJo with the appropriate levels of excitement. Welcome to the world of stationery-based over-excitement and spending your evenings mucking about with lists and coloured pens.

Doreen - dammmit, that's clearly why I didn't get this job! Why did I not think of mentioning BuJo on my CV?

Hi everyone, I have been really struggling with my life and my brain for the last few years, (cos it's made of lime jelly, see). I've been lurking through both threads, picking up tips.

I've got one of [http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00J5JBQUK?ref_=pe_385721_51767431_TE_dp_3 these]] coming tomorrow, squared 80gsm paper and a pen loop at a good price!

LimeJellyforBrains · 26/02/2016 21:05

Ach try again

LimeJellyforBrains · 26/02/2016 21:08

And as it's only 6.99 you then HAVE to spend 13.01 on stationery to get the free postage! Grin.

DoreenLethal · 26/02/2016 21:27

As soon as i know, the BuJo community will know.

All that planning I could do ;)

AprilShowers16 · 26/02/2016 22:16

Thanks for replies, thank I'm going to go for separate work and home as if rather not be reminded of work when I'm at home. May still need to keep normal diary for work meetings too but like the idea of them matching. Going to go for A5 for both home and work so fits nicely in my bag... Also feel like I'll need a new bag to go with my organised life...

Kewcumber · 26/02/2016 23:56

I looked at Herlitz as a cheaper version of the Signum lime, let us know how you go with it.

I am planning March and refining how I work with Mr Bujo. April I work for myself so work and home kind of mesh together so I keep the two together. I'm hoping bujo will help me be more organised and keep them apart.

So where I've got to is:

Appointments still in my Outlook calendar - partly because I have to invite people sometimes and partly because it does a reminder for me on the day and quite a few of my meetings are conference calls which are easy to forget is I get enmeshed in something.

I really haven't used the month planner much in Feb - though having the dates and blocking out if I'm out all day or half a day is useful so for March I'm going to print out a small half A5 size calendar to paste to one page and use the other half of the page for something else - maybe key goals for the month?

Often a daily log/task list isn't necessary so I've switched to a weekly one which takes up a page and a tiny bit on the facing page for Sunday and I use most of the facing page for weekly tasks. On the days I need more (I spend three full days a month at one client and half day a week at another) I just have a tasklist for that client. I'm considering making that client specific not day specific.

The two things I like best about bujo is:

1 - writing stuff down helps it get into my head (I have never been able to deal with todo lists on a computer and tried and failed to use Evernote)
2 - it evolves as I find what works for me.

If I have time I doodle and colour a little if I don't then I don't - simple!

Kewcumber · 27/02/2016 00:01

I have a Kondo page which I look at wistfully from time to time.

I have just written a very simple housework for slobs page based on the www.aslobcomesclean.com/new-here/ blog

I live in hope that writing down 5 steps will help me start as it's quite hard to work at home when your house is screaming at you.
