Used to do one of these each week but I have become a lazy lazy slob it would seem!

Anyone care to join me with lists and motivation?

How old is everyone's kids? My youngest is 15months, she's still not walking and won't let me do anything that's not related to her Confused I'm trying desperately to get on top of things so wondered if you ladies have any tricks up your sleeves?!

penguinsarecool · 12/11/2015 19:41

Hi Candlefairy My ds is 3 iN January. Hes got a lot better the last few months and doesn't literally follow me everywhere now. My housework secret is to do one big task per day. One day i do hoovering the next day bathroom, etc. When my ds was young i do kitchen/bathroom cleaning when ds was asleep, hoovering when dh takes him to park on saturday or the shop. I do basic tidying and wipe down kitchen every evening to make sure the house is ok before the next day. It does get easier as they get older.

I hope your school manage to sort out the bullying. I hate bullying. Some people just refuse to believe their darlings are not always darlings, and some people just don't care unfortunately. You can bet your bottom dollar she would be up in arms if it were her dd getting bullied.

Today i have:

  • washed breakfast dishes
  • dettol'd kitchen tops
  • bleached, cleaned and mopped the bathroom
  • general tidy up
  • made the beds
  • made tea
  • bathed ds

Hi Candle my youngest is 3 at the end of this month. Only adive I can give you is get a cleaner, use childcare and lower your standards. My house is still a tip.Confused

shutupanddance · 12/11/2015 19:52

penguins tips are far better than mine! In fact I'm stealing them.

Our ds's are very close in age. Things are better today at least for now. Teacher spoke to the girls seperstley and main bully's friend squawked. Bully still denying it but caught out.Shock

Hi Candle, my kids are 14, 11, 8 and my youngest is just coming up to 16 months, she's a little ball of mischief and I can get very little done when she's awake, she just trashes the place and throws food everywhere. She has two 1 - 1.5 hour naps per day though so I manage to get most of my stuff done whilst she sleeps and I occasionally stick peppa pig on for half an hour to distract her so I can cook, etc. It is hard work when they're little though isn't it as they demand your attention all the time.

One tip I do have though is to stick them in the bath and clean the bathroom while you're in there watching them. She plays happily in the water while I give everywhere a wipe over then I just rinse the bath tub out when she gets out.

I also sometimes stick her in her high chair with some crayons and paper and let her scribble while I wash up and stick the washer on.

From my list today all I managed was to wash the dishes, cleaned the kitchen, tidied the living room half a million times, bought dd2's new pjs and socks for me and I swept the floors then took dd3 to the park to run off some energy.

I didn't get much else done as I had to go into town to the phone shop as Ds has yet again smashed the screen on his phone so I had to hand it in and claim on the insurance for a new one - honestly, he only got his last one replaced literally 2 weeks ago!! The £15 for a years insurance was definitely money well spent! Clumsy bugger.

penguinsarecool · 12/11/2015 20:16

Bullys need to be dealt with by both school and parents though. Hopefully the school speak to the parents and make them aware. I'd want to know if a child of mine was bullying other children.

I tried to do the whole cleaning bathroom whilst bathing ds thing but i wasn't comfortable with using chemicals whilst he was in the room. I'd be squirting bleach round the loo which is right next to the bath he was in.

Kim82 · 12/11/2015 20:18

Yes, I wouldn't want to use bleach with them being so close either. I use antibac wipes on all surfaces, scrub the loo and chuck bleach down it when I go to bed so she doesn't have to breath in any fumes.

shutupanddance · 12/11/2015 20:20

I agree penguins but I don't hold much hope out on parent front.Sad

I sometimes do the bathroom cleaning too while dcs in it.

penguinsarecool · 12/11/2015 20:27

Its no wonder the girl bullies if her parents are like you described.

So how often do you lot put bleach down the loo out of interest? I try and do it every other day but ii've noticed no one else lists it on here so sometimes wonder if i do it too regularly now lol

Kim82 · 12/11/2015 20:32

I squirt a bit down the upstairs toilet every night before I go to bed as it gets used so much and the inside discolours so quickly if I don't. The downstairs one gets bleached about 2 times a week. It doesn't get used anywhere near as much so doesn't need cleaning as often.

penguinsarecool · 12/11/2015 20:41

Have you tried using loo cleaner instead of bleach hun? They do say bleach just hides limescale and dirt so maybe thats why its gets discoloured so quickly.

Kim82 · 12/11/2015 20:48

Yeh, the people who lived here before us were bloody filthy, it was absolutely caked with lime scale and dirt - we had to re-do the grouting and the sealant on the bath and taps as it was black. It was seriously grim! The inside of the toilet is damaged now I think and the smooth coating is scratched and horrible, it's as clean as I'm going to get it. I do stick some dissolvable limescale tablets down there occasionally too but it makes no difference. At least the bleach makes it look nice and white! Grin

penguinsarecool · 12/11/2015 21:00

Nothing kills germs like bleach either in my opinion Grin Luckily we don't get limescale where we are so its just germs i have to contend with.

shutupanddance · 12/11/2015 21:20

Emmm... Bleach, when I clean it and if I notice its grubby. I know people may not disagree, I dont think you can use too much bleach.

penguinsarecool · 12/11/2015 21:27

I may not disagree, i think Wink Grin

Heyheyheygoodbye · 12/11/2015 21:28

Bleach once a week but I give it a quick clean most days. When I lived in a hard water area it was much worse.

penguinsarecool · 12/11/2015 21:37

I know i probably do use too much down my loo. My dh certainly think so too. My name is Pippa and i'm a toilet germ killer Grin
