Argh, which one? Im using this one

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 10/10/2006 07:50

Just got up and turned water on... my counter tops get cleaned 2/3 times a day. Maybe ill move things and give it a really good clean

Dont think we're getting a new kitchen, might just sruce up the old one. Anyone just had new worktops fitted?

jasnDISMemBERED · 10/10/2006 07:59

When we moved in, we retiled, replaced the worktops and refitted all the old cupboards. It was cheap, and made the kitchen look alot better (I also painted all the cupboard doors)

Sorry about the extra thread, I didn't find the other one 'til I'd done this one, so I've linked to here.

lol we probably did it the exact same time

no plans so far! managed to unload the d/w but that's about it ...
i just feel so without any energy

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 10/10/2006 08:24

Jasn - can I be rude and ask how much the worktops cost?

Im all showered and dressed (albeit in chavvy tracksuit bottoms and a top and slippers but still!) and DS is up and changed, bathroom swished and swiped and eatin breakfast! chuffed

batinshoes · 10/10/2006 08:27

Morning all.

DD slept in until 8.10 which is unheard of - not sure yet if she's unwell or just being lazy.

I have shined my sink, had breakfast, got dressed and put dishwasher on. Going to get a load of washing now but need to feed and dress DD to get out at 9.00 eek.

Hope Torts DS has a good birthday.

batinshoes · 10/10/2006 08:28

forgot to say ;

q - my mate had new worktops and cupboard doors done by a local kitchen company. not sure of cost but it looked like a brand new kitchen at the end.

and on a flying note. i clean my worktops properly once a week anyway so not a great challenge for me today...

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 10/10/2006 08:30

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TORTS DS!!

Well im up and washed and dressed - to shoes! (Only because i took DH to work)

Kids are fed and dressed.

Upstairs needs a swish and swipe
Kitchen needs counter tops doing although were only done thoroughly on sunday
Living room needs tidied and hoovered - feel a 15 min fling coming on
And that will be me!

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 10/10/2006 08:33

im sooo unsure whether to spruce up this kitchen, or get a new one. We weren't planning to stay long, but, I cant see us actually affording to move for 4+ years. The kitchen is OK, and I would just paint the pine doors white, new handles, new wood worktop, tile the floor. BUT, if we stay longer than we thought it might make sense to get a new kitchen. Got moben coming to quote us just to give us an idea of much it would cost. Thing is... 3k is about our max as DH wants a new TV.

SusiSkelletonInTheCloset · 10/10/2006 08:41

HAPPY BIRTHDAY torts DS!!
have a fab day

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 10/10/2006 09:09

Right...

Dishwasher emptied and reloaded with breakfast stuff

Lounge tidied of toys and hoovered - including porch

Counter tops done, as well as microwave and dishwasher and fridge freezer have had a swipe

15 min fling in living room still needed
upstairs still needed

other than that im done - OMG! Its only 9.09am!

MacabreMe23 · 10/10/2006 09:17

hi can I join? I need some organisation and motivation where housework is concerned.
my flat is gradually resembling a pig sty
can someone give me a run down of what this fly business is?
A lot of the problem for me is that I dont have any storage at the moment, as I am saving up to by wardrobes etc... I work part time, am a single parent so have to do it gradually.
I want to be able to just whizz around and clean quickly but it all seems so mammoth I don't know where to begin!
x

peegeeweegeeWITCH · 10/10/2006 09:35

QueenQuootie - I doubt Moben will be able to do a new kitchen for 3k, from what I have heard they are expensive1!

Your best bet would be to get a kitchen from Ikea and get someone local to install it for you. Their units are cheap but surprisingly solid!! Loads of choice too!!!

Won't be doing much flying today - am looking after my friends 2 year old dd today. Great fun, but together with my 3 year old dd is is chaos!!

Will give counters a wipe, do a load of laundry and all the washing up, but that will be as much as I am able to do....

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 10/10/2006 09:38

Welcome!

the best bet is to get yourself familiar with the flylady website! There is a link at the bottom here.

The whole point is to do 15 minutes at a time - no more, and gradually you will notice massive improvements!

I have now enptied tumble dryer and put what was in washing machine in it! I have folded and sorted the clothes that came out of tumble dryer so they are now sat in a basket ready to be put away - will do that once Becky wakes up as most of it is the girls stuff!

Only 2 pieces of clothing to be ironed, so that will sit in a seperate basket until DH does the next lot - he did what there was last night!

So, just bathroom, toilet and bedrooms to go and my house is clean and tidy again!

It really is just a case of maintenance once its done isnt it!!

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 10/10/2006 09:42

darn it. MFI might. Welcome Macabre...

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 10/10/2006 09:43

ikea...hmmm.... do they do a design service?

Skribble · 10/10/2006 09:50

HAppy Birthday to Torty's DS!!!

QueenQuootie have a good honest look at your units, are they solid, well fitted and planned fairly well if so why not get new doors and new work top. No point of going to the expence and hassle of replacing units.

MacabreMe23 flying is ideal for you, we are gradually decluttering while establishing sensible bite sized routines to keep the house ticking over and under control. I have a very disorgainised house and well life really but I am strating to reign it in much to my surprise and initial objections.

So Cleaning the worktops [hmm}, one side is clear and needs only a quick swish. The other side needs some clearing. My kitchen has a split personality . I need to find a way to orgainise my recycling so I can claim back a section of worktop.

asleep · 10/10/2006 09:50

morning!
so far an easy week on the missions... i empty, spray with detol and wipe my kitchen bins every day. and i did today's mission yesterday. i need to get on top of the washing again though as i have a huge pile of towels to do on top of the normal clothes.

we spent £15 on that paint & grain stuff and did our kitchen cupboards with it. it look ok and made our boring old kitchen a bit nicer.

and we're still without heating

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 10/10/2006 09:52

Mac, start with the baby steps on the website, then add in the daily missions and daily routines. Eg. mission today is give counter tops a good clean. The daily routine (which I follow (sometimes!)) is on the website aswell, and the baby steps build you up to that.

MacabreMe23 · 10/10/2006 10:12

Thankyou for your welcome, I have a good feeling about this maybe intime I won't be embarrassed to invite people over
is this becoming second nature to you all?
I have cleaned the floors today because theyreally needed it. I will check out the site.
I work part time and when I'm here withdd (16 months) she cries whenever I attempt to doanything but play with her! she is going through a clingy phase so it is difficult.

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 10/10/2006 10:14

it is second nature now yes - ive only been doing it 3 weeks and it takes me a maximum of an hour a day to keep on top of things.

i have a 2.2yr old and an almost 1 yr old so i know that feeling well.... but they do need to learn sometimes that mummy has to do such and such and then she will play, but im lucky that both of mine entertain each other!

asleep · 10/10/2006 10:22

yes, is second nature here too. even with a 4 month old baby i get things done, mostly while he's napping or asleep at night though and 5 year old DD has made her own morning routine. it's stuck on her bedroom door so she always knows what is expected of her to get ready for school. she loves it.

QueenQuootieSpookypieBee · 10/10/2006 10:24

bit 2nd nature... getting up, making the bed straight away, jumping in shower and cleaning bbathroom while im there... Other than that, im still building on it.

TortUREoiseChamber · 10/10/2006 10:31

Morning FLYers.
Thanks for ds's happy b-day wishes!
Have not done much other than up,dressed, all fed and walk dd1 to pre-school!
Now going to print up a few pics of DS2 and put happy b-day messages on them to stick up!!

Bucketsofbloodydinosaurs · 10/10/2006 10:39

I do the countertops once a day anyway as part of getting kitchen company-ready. I do it with spray and a clean rag (don't approve of soggy smelly dishcloths being used again and again, yuck.) So that makes up for not doing the bin yesterday then
