A new thread for a new week...

OP posts:

Skribble My knicker/sock draw is the bottom one of draws. The 2 little ones (meant for undies)at the top hold all my small tops. undies would just not fit in them. The bottom draw is the largest draw I have I just cant tip them, They are all still good for a long time yet

tortoise · 20/09/2006 21:18

HN Why not put some in a small tub and rotate them once a month(or however long!) then you always have something different to wear!

hazelnuts · 20/09/2006 21:25

tortoise . Yes I could do that, then I could put the tub under my nice cleaned out bed.

Note for HN! buy a tub for undies lol

Skribble · 20/09/2006 21:27

Not much point in me rotaing my undies, they are all black full or thong, holes or no holes, big and baggy or a bit on the tight side, I do have a few nice pink ones but 99% black. No matching sets or any of that malarky .

Skribble · 20/09/2006 21:28

If I keep rotating my pants will it start to chafe?? .

tortoise · 20/09/2006 21:33

Here i am advising on undies when i haven't even done my draw yet!!
Yes Watch out for chafing!

Skribble · 20/09/2006 21:35

Rotating your thongs can't be very attractive

hazelnuts · 20/09/2006 21:38

Skribble I have some where the niks match the socks "little devil" etc though

hazelnuts · 20/09/2006 21:42

tortoise, you just dont want to throw any away do you really lol

IvortheEngine · 20/09/2006 21:44

In case you don't remember me, I'm the one who pops onto the Flylady threads towards the end of the week as I work Mon - Fri.

Today I rang up my SIL and asked if she'd e-bay all my unwanted clothes that are in good nick and she said yes! I'm really pleased and will spend part of tomorrow (have an appointment a.m. and so won't be in work and will probably be home earlier than usual) sorting out clothes to be sold. I'm hoping to have that valuable thing -space - soon! It does relate to this thread as most of the clothes are in my bedroom so, for once, I'll almost be doing the same as everyone else. Give me a couple of months and I hope to be on track along with lots of you.

tortoise · 20/09/2006 21:48

I will throw them away if holey! Won't be many!!

Hi ivor. Hope you make lots of money and more importantly space!

hazelnuts · 20/09/2006 21:53

IvortheEngine who? lol

I dont think you can keep up with it all if you work. Just do what you can and went you can

Skribble · 20/09/2006 22:05

I have to have an honesty session in fron of the mirror with my clothes and chuck out loads.

Hows everyone getting on with the idea that "It could be useful is not actually the same as "It is useful"

When clearing out I have to stick to...
Do I use it?
or do I love it?
or does it fit and not make me look like my mother?
It could come in handy just can't cut it anymore as I have drawers and boxes of stuff that might just come in handy, it never does because I can never find it anyway.

IvortheEngine · 20/09/2006 22:08

And while we're on the subject of nixs, thanks to a MN thread about 2 years ago, I sorted out my nixs drawers. I can't remember the exact figures but I threw away either twenty something and kept thirty something pairs or else it was the other way round. I suppose I should tackle them again as I've bought about 15 pairs in the last year. And whilst I'm whinging, why is it that boy style pants (can't remember their proper name) look good on, but aren't that comfortable to wear, hmm?

IvortheEngine · 20/09/2006 22:14

I know just what you mean, Skribble. I did this with one dsis recently and we identified the key things she needs for clothes to look good. For tops, the key was:- neutral tones, patterns are good; v neck is good, others not; sleeves are good as they instantly slim her top half by about 2 sizes; blocks of colour are not good even if there's nothing wrong with them, they just don't do anything for her. It was really useful and I took away the unwanted stuff so she couldn't change her mind and also she didn't have to get rid of stuff she remembered paying good money for.

tortoise · 20/09/2006 22:21

I don't have enough clothes to chuck any! Wel I guess some are past it but i can't afford to replace them! I did sell a few on Ebay!

My jeans were crap make but sold!! Depends on size as larger sizes sell i think!

tinshoes · 21/09/2006 07:39

Morning all,

Rubbish night's sleep as DD is still unwell. Kitchen clean, dishwasher emptied and washing on as I was up so early.

KELLY'S MISSION IS TO CLEAR YOUR NIGHTSTAND (bedside table to you and me??). I did it the other day so another 'non-mission' for me.

Skribble - If you have loads of clothes on ebay that arent the best makes try putting them in a big bundle, they often sell well. Bigger sizes do well. Also, try and sell according to season - no point selling summer stuff now!

Ivor - you're doing great just being here :-) welcome back

Have a good day all

CaptainFlameSparrow · 21/09/2006 07:45

You all talk too much!!! I can never catch up in the morning.

Feeling soo downheartened. I still haven't got much of my bounce back and I'm sooo tired. Now DS has slept better for 2 nights my body seems to have realised it is tired... along with a horrible vivid dream so I don't think I slept very well iyswim.

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 21/09/2006 08:28

Good morning
Am tackling the master bedroom this avo while dd is at pre-school and library is shut so have to postpone my window shopping until tomorrow (19m ds needs somewhere to stretch his legs mid-journey.) So, have NO EXCUSE!
If I'm not back on here by 2.30 asking how to do Photobucket, give me a good ticking off please. (Have done before pics and everything, I'm quite excited and motivated just to show off my romantic net curtains.)

Bucketsofdinosaurs · 21/09/2006 08:53

Ooh hold the phone, I've just worked out I can stick it on a secret page on my website and link to that. Prepare to be amazed...

Chloe55 · 21/09/2006 08:57

Morning,

I am going shopping today for a new carpet. We have a fireplace with a marble hearth which just takes up room in my living room and ds is drawn to it all the time. I have been asking my step-dad to knock it down for a couple of months now. Anyway, whilst he was here yesterday ds fell on it and hit his head - no damage done but at least it gave my step-dad a kick up the ass so he 1/2 ripped it out there and then ! Dh came home and went mad because he now says the room looks a mess. I would have been happy throwing a rug down tempararily but no, dh wants to spend the little amount left out of our loan (which I wanted for a weekend away) on a bloody new carpet!! I see where he is coming from but I was really looking forward to some quality time together and we can't afford both.

Flame - why don't you knock this week on the head and start a fresh on monday, have a few drinks over the weekend and just chill out

I know what you mean about the chucking stuff Ivor - my problem is I am on a diet and I keep thinking well, when I have lost 2 stone that will fit!!! So I have a wardrobe full of clothes that are at least a size too small. No good throwing them and buying new ones when I reach my target because I won't be able to afford a new wardrobe. Besides, I have a couple of dresses I have never even worn because I bought them, then found out I was pg and never got a chance to wear them when I was still relatively slim

Skribble · 21/09/2006 09:06

Kelly's mission I am going to clear out all the old magazines, books and tavel brochures that are piled up beside my bed too.

I know what you mean about hanging on to clothes because they might fit if you lose weight. I will keep a few items like that but I have three pairs of trespass walking trousers that are simply to short, other trousers that are just crappy and old tops that I can chuck. No pint in keeping loads of stuff in case I lose weight. I I lost all that weight I don't want to celebrate by wearing old outof fashion crappy clothes. If I lost the weight I will deserve a couple of new things.

IvortheEngine · 21/09/2006 09:08

Just quickly as I have to go in a mo.

Would it be worth some of you sorting out clothes which are in very good nick (but you can't use as they are the wrong size for you) and putting the photos on a swap thread and linking to here? It might be worth a try.
