Why did no one tell me to try using my mobile before I spent £1.50 on a timer shaped like a red pepper?

OP posts:
tinshoes · 20/09/2006 13:00

Chloe has rats???? Did I miss something?

I'm just off to descale my kettle as the uk secular flylady sent me an email telling me to.

Beccarolloveragain, some of what i do :

  • I have a big box with files for house bills, credit cards, bank statements etc and file things once a week.
  • I have an in-tray for bills next to the PC and go through it once a week to pay credit cards off etc.
  • I pay all house bills by direct debit, as often you save money and it takes the stress out of remembering.
  • I do an online supermarket shop once a month for bulky household items and drinks as you can see the bogof offers etc and dont have to carry everything.
  • use supermarket vouchers ONLY if you would shop there normally or you might end up spending more.
  • i have a 'change pot' where all loose change goes and so whenever i go out i dip into it and always have money for parking. otherwise you end up going to buy something you dont need with a note just to get change...

thats all i can think of at the moment.....

tortoisesdonotwearshoes · 20/09/2006 13:37

I hate not being here in the morning!I have to spend ages catching up on messages!
Todller group this morning.Friend was there so was much better this week.

I have until 4pm to tidy up before domestic abuse support worker comes!! Good job its not too messy!!

I used to have pet rats. They are lovely.

I hate spiders too! Well done for catching it!

asleep · 20/09/2006 13:39

becca, i have a divider in my control journal that is 'BUDGET'. it has a sheet which i have made on the computer and it is a kind of forecast of the next month. i print one off each week and fill it in. it has all the direct debits and income on it (child benefit every 4 weeks and aprox pay for each week). it gives me an overview of what will come out and how much we have to spare after bills.
there is also a sheet which is just a long list of all expenses and income, so i can fill it in easily.
i check our bank balances every morning and pay most bills online.
i shop around for expensive items. i buy in bulk (nappies etc). take advantage of BOGOFs and 3 for 2 offers on non-perishables.
the FACE control journal thing on FL website is quite good.

BarefootJasnem · 20/09/2006 13:39

Becca,
Try and have a paperwork day once a week. (I do Thursdays as I go out on Fridays and can go to the bank/po/post box with everything ready)
Go through the pile and bin/file what doesn't need attention now, then it will look less scary.

I avoid dds if at all possible (I know you save money, but not if it takes you overdrawn and you get charged) Our income is varied and unpredictable, so it helps if I can pay bills early/late (within reason) to fit with dps money coming in.

tortoisesdonotwearshoes · 20/09/2006 14:43

asleep i haven't read it.Seen it on Amazon.

Front room is tidy and pretty much company ready!

Girls have gone to contact with their dad.Had a bit of an arguement with him! Oh well!

Now i have an hour to myself.

Chloe55 · 20/09/2006 15:13

at people thinking I have rats of the vermin kind!

I used to vet nurse so have quite a menagery of pets which has dwindled loads since having ds but the rats are still with me. My cousin did offer to take them as I don't get them out much anymore since having ds as I'm paranoid about poo/wee I might miss when cleaning up after them. I can just envisage ds putting a missed dropping in his mouth, eeurrghh!! However, she has now said that she can't take them. I am happy to keep them as they are lovely but I am feeling it is pretty cruel because they need more attention so I guess my friend is right in one way.

Can't be bothered to FLY today as have been cleaning at my nanna's all morning.

Skribble · 20/09/2006 16:19

Mangaged to do Kelly's mission, I taped my stupidly little duster thing on to the end of a broom handle and did all the covings, windows and door frames upstairs. Loads of spiders, but I don't mind them just let them practice ytheir abseiling out the window.

Cleared to top of my huge cheast of drawers, so treated bedroom to new bedside lamps, a faue fur throw, two silk boxes for pocket junk and two tea light holders in case we get romantic. Starting to see a big difference.

Hot spot challenge is top chuck out all the plastic tubs and boxes that don't have lids. I don't really have tubs so I will spend 10m chuckig ouy anyother useless kitchen stuff I find.

Partners are to spend 15 mins clearing a workshop/ garage area. Nice idea but hut is my territory so I might get him to go around and collect up ll the work gear that seems to multiply around the hous and take it back in to work.

tortoise · 20/09/2006 17:55

Well done skribble.

I had a good chat with abuse worker and admitted more than i have before and feel good for it!

And house looks great from quick tidy before she came.

hazelnuts · 20/09/2006 20:38

I think I have read up now. There is so much to read to catch. lol

I have done todays Kelly's Mission. I do that once a month anyway when I clean the windows.

I don't think I can do yesterday`s though

I must have over 50 pairs on niks and I know I have way over 50 pairs of socks.

Ok I will admit, I love new undies and socks and they all have different pics on them so I don't want to get rid of them

asleep · 20/09/2006 20:40

half the bedroom is cleaned and decluttered! my side of the bed

Skribble · 20/09/2006 20:45

Tortoise, glad you were able to do that and that it felt better.

I did try secular flylady to get away from all the religious stuff as it is not my thing , but it is running on a different schedule and in a different zone. So I have went back to the full on version. I have a calender running with yahoo and flylady has infiltrated it, I think I will leave it on my calender as it sets everything out quite sensibly.

I amm sitting here typing away thinking something is wrong something is just not right. Are my shoes on, Yes. Is my sink shiny, Yes. Have I swished and swiped, Yes. What is it......
Ah I have no drink in my hand.

Skribble · 20/09/2006 20:47

Hazel Nuts I still have to do the knicker drawer, now that I have caught up with my washing what was an empty drawer is now overflowing, time to throw away the old faithfuls with the holes in.
