A new thread for a new week...

OP posts:
Skribble · 20/09/2006 00:09

Hes toddled off to bed now, and his pile is still sitting there, along with his work bag that will lie about until his next trip.

SusiS · 20/09/2006 06:33

morning!
yes skribble, i know that feeling 'sigh' - i can put things in front of him and he would just step over it instead of putting it away!!

BUT when i went to bed yesterday i realised he'd made his bed - needs a bit teaching still but WOW!!!

well, we are up since 6am and haven't done anything yet (not surprising, eh?!)
well, kids and i are dressed (that's already an achievement!!)

asleep · 20/09/2006 07:26

morning!

i walked into the bedroom last night when the kids were in bed, full of good intention to clean up in there. but as soon as i moved one thing the most enormous spider walked into the room. it was about the size of my palm. so i jumped around and screamed. managed to trap in into a glass. DP was so proud of me and he came and put it outside when he got home from work at 4am. so i didn't get any work done in that room as i was still shaking and too scared of finding any more spiders! i'm so pathetic when it comes to 8 legged beasties.

tinshoes · 20/09/2006 07:58

Morning all.

Tortoise - you were so right as I had a clean kitchen this morning. I am very grateful for my cyber-shove!

Shaz - well done for ditching the odd socks!

Sorky - I tried putting all DDs jigsaws in clear food bags the other day and getting rid of all the broken boxes. They now fit in one plastic tub - hurrah! Any more tips like that gratefully received.

KELLY'S MISSION FOR TODAY IS TO DUST TOPS OF DOORS, WINDOWS & HANDLES ETC.

BarefootJasnem · 20/09/2006 08:00

Morning,

I've just noticed When did that appear?

Anyway, dp complimeted me on bedroom and meal planning today

My job for today is to go up in the loft, and put up all the cr*p he brings home from work that "might come in useful" one day.

Odd socks - I binned them all when I cleaned the kids room last month, and yesterday I found the other one to a pair of purple fluffy frog ones that dd2 loved. I've kept it in case I fingd the other one (that I'm fairly sure I binned!)

Round of applause for asleep and her spider catching.

Loving !!!

Got sod all done yesterday - washing is still in the machine.

BUT I had some sleep last night, so hopefully things will be better today!!

CaptainFlameSparrow · 20/09/2006 08:02

Oh, my DH is a git.

He trimmed his sodding beard all over my makeup table and didn't clear it off

AND I went out last night, and he didn't bother to sort the lounge once the children were in bed. He used to help out, now he seems under the impression that FLYing = me a maid!!!

Chloe55 · 20/09/2006 08:35

Give him a kick up the ass Flame!!

Well my friend came round yesterday (th one I told about flying) AND i MENTIONED IT WAS THE LIVING ROOM NEXT WEEK. Oops sorry for the caps. Anyway, she said well, in that case, please tell em you are getting rid of that lamp, that plant, those fake flowers, those old piano books, your rats and the lightshades - I always thought my front room was in good shape!

Admittedly, when she had pointed out all the floors I completely agreed so we started the clear out together so she could make sure I was ruthless. It even went as far as changing the room round to utilise all the space I waste at the back of the room and do you know what - I LOVE IT!!! I am so pleased

Cheeky cow though

Chloe55 · 20/09/2006 08:36

flaws doh!

SusiS · 20/09/2006 08:45

asleep ouch at your spider experience!! very brave - hope you got lots of chocolate for the shock - br
tinshoes makes all the difference when you see your kitchen clean and shiny in the morning, eh?! glad you did it! - br
jasnem wow! 2 compliments!! you are deffo doing it right - br
flame grr i hate that too. he tries to clean the sink but only halfheartedly and lots are still left - but on your table - put him on the naughtystep for not sorting the lounge - br
chloe hey! no working ahead - but well done you on sorting that room and loving it now!! did you put all the 'decluttered' stuff on the website (weight i mean )

Skribble · 20/09/2006 09:05

Morning just logging on while I have breakfast.

Kelly's Mission , quite a little one so I will include window frames as well, as the mega spiders seem to be taking over (aparantly its the weather).

tinshoes · 20/09/2006 09:25

Flame - yuk. definitely naughty step for that

well, i have put some washing on, emptied the dishwasher, dusted the bedroom bits (as per kelly) and cleaned everything in the downstairs loo. Now, i'm shattered

i've started keeping cleaning things in the rooms i need them (eg, bathroom) rather than in a box under the kitchen sink and now i'm much more likely to clean when i have a moment free or when i'm doing something else, or when dd is on potty etc so i think that has made a big difference.

shazronnie · 20/09/2006 09:31

Good morning!
You were very brave with that spider, asleep.

I've been awake since the unearthly hour of 5 am, because I have decided to stop bf DS2 (nearly 20mths and quite honestly I'm fed up with it!) He was not impressed that he was only getting a cuddle, not booby, so eventually we got up at 6am - after an hour of intermittent whingeing and fidgeting and groping.

So, my fridge is clean, menu planned, shopping list written - I'm just waiting for Dh to drag his arse out of bed because I want to go to Tesco alone (bliss )

Morning! Weaning back in - again - gently. Deleted last 3 days missions, can anyone enlighten me? Thanks! Hope everyones been well

JessaJam · 20/09/2006 10:42

I hoovered the top of the door/frame in the bedroom when I hoovered it on monday night!! (I now do a room a day on a rota...sad sad sad ).

Flamey - I have a trimming dh too so much sympathy!

Quootiepie · 20/09/2006 10:44

oh, found the link!

sorkycake · 20/09/2006 10:54

Haha!

You get sucked in with the jigsaws thing, then slowly but surely, you wonder how other things could be stored to grab more space back...before you know it you're like me ...absolutely obsessed with storing things.

BarefootJasnem · 20/09/2006 11:08

I bought a timer this morning

OP posts:
asleep · 20/09/2006 11:46

i've been using the countdown timer on my mobile! works quite well and i can control the volume of it.

i've not done much flying today. i've only wiped a few surfaces and put a few things away. i have concentrated on improving my control journal.

tinshoes, i keep the bathroom cleaning items on top of my bathroom cabinet. and for the rest (polish, duster, etc) i have a basket with handles, which i carry around the rooms as i go.

Quootiepie · 20/09/2006 11:48

my DH is changing... now the house is getting and staying clean and tidy, he now wants to paint the bathroom! Ive been on for ages and gave up about it! House was also clean enough to cope with an unexpected visit from MIL and DHs cousin I was like "oh, sorry about the mess" and the place was near sparkling!

asleep · 20/09/2006 11:53

ohhh Quootiepie! that's great! i've been saying to people "just come over whenever you want", but no one has yet. chances are people will drop in when i let things slip for a day and all is a mess!

tinshoes · 20/09/2006 11:54

lol Sorky, I have been desperate to find other ways of tidying the toys

Jas - I havent been able to face using a timer. I make sure i do short bursts as I'm preggers and get tired easily so that is my watch!

asleep - good for you doing a journal. I havent done that either. But, I do go through the mails and do the tasks and have a routine I just cant write it down as that would be like admitting I needed this help with housework all along

I'm actually pretty organised eveywhere else but since I had DD I lost a few brain cells and bump no 2 has depleted a few more

CaptainFlameSparrow · 20/09/2006 12:37

Wooohoo Quootie!!!

I'm all bouncy today. Amazing what a few hours sleep and a morning with Psycho can do for me. Yesterday's washing will be on the line when I get off here, then I'll go do a few 15 min bursts in the kitchen and bedroom.

Chloe - you have rats??? How did I not know this!? How many?

I can see me doing quite a bit of diningroom next week - although my lounge is still in need of more decluttering, it is looking a lot better, and my time would be better spent in the other room. Is that wrong? Do I care?

CaptainFlameSparrow · 20/09/2006 12:38

Oh, I am a mobile countdown person
