Sold the highchair. :) Have also managed to give away some of my grandma's old baking dishes to my brother!

JKSLtd · 03/08/2013 20:25

Have also sold some big plastic bits on eBay - some collected today too.

Am also finding myself washing out cupboards as I empty themShock

Tomorow shd be easy; kitchen linens we don't have many.

takeaway2 · 03/08/2013 20:35

4 coats delivered to dry cleaners - £15 but necessary and my hallway looks bare. Grin

Bag of clothes to charity shop in boot for tomorrow. Two bags of clothes and shoes to friend's son who although is the same age is smaller. So he gets them. Smile

Probably need to do more but we ended up at birthday party and then to the cinema - first time in a year or two? Tomorrow is difficult as is dh's birthday but at least the house looks tidier I think!

Well done!
Can I ask why do you keep magazine covers? Articles from inside/recipes I would get.

Done day 5; kitchen linens.

Got rid of 2 sets of napkins we don't have the placemats for anymore (12)
Plus a random pair of placemats = 14 Smile

Also reorganised kids cups/boxes of drinks/cans/spare beers/etc Smile

Can i ask how you guys get your other halves involved in decluttering? I'm really keen and motivated, and have cleared a lot of my own stuff, but I cant really chuck any of OHs things away/do any household junk clearing because its both of our stuff, without his input, which is fleeting at best. Its really annoying me!

Dumped bag off at charity shop. Yay. Also as it was dh's birthday we had a small party and I got DS to make up party bags for our guests' children. Cheeky huh? DS filled them with lollies, erasers and whatever tat that would have come from another party bag. Obviously I checked to make sure there weren't any half eaten sweets or broken stuff but that was actually quite a good thing to do! Made the kids happy. Grin

mine is good at this, but this is what you can do: say you went through one room or area : whatever is his and needs sorting through put ina box.
tell him that you are decluttering and need his help - obviously he should do his own stuff (at least)
try and agree on when he will have time to do this - and there has to be a deadline.

if he's not naturally good at sorting you could offer to write a list of things you want done.
or you could show him the decluttering list and ask what he can take on (like sorting toys with kids or doing the garden etc)
I'm sure he'll be on board as he starts seeing the benefits!

pookamoo · 05/08/2013 11:11

I have sorted through the baby bibs, made 3 piles -
one small pile to keep, in case of spaghetti bolognese Wink
one big bag to donate to the local family shelter
one pile of pretty much unused tiny baby (pre weaning) bibs to sell - going in the car-boot box.

Feeling good about this - have tidied up the playroom today as well. Would it be wrong to ban the children from going in there and untidying it?!

pookamoo · 05/08/2013 16:35

... am on a roll today. Grin

Just went through the DDs' cupboards and sorted out everything that won't do them over the winter. Instead of just bagging up the lot of DD1's stuff for DD2, I've been selective about what I am going to hand down (there's way too much anyway).

Anything else has gone in the bag for the family shelter.

Same for DD2. I've picked out a couple of hand-made things, and some things that friends have specifically asked me for, and all the rest has gone in the bag. Need to put it in the car when it stops raining!

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 05/08/2013 19:53

2 bags to textile bin, one bag to book bin, one bag of dance gear returned to teacher, 2 carrier bags of ,well, carrier bags to recycling, huge piles of photos from my dh's uni days sifted through and the vast majority binned. He wanted to chuck them all but I selected a few embarrassing good ones for posterity.

takeaway2 · 05/08/2013 20:21

Didn't do the house today as was at work as usual but did get to do my office!! Grin picked DS up after his summer and camp and returned to my office. After getting some bits done decided to clear out things and filled up a whole recycling waste bin of paper. Got rid of a drawer full of used envelopes and a whole box file of paper. Plus random other pieces of paper off my table. I want to get a new table for my office so this is an incentive to start moving crap out!!

RightsaidFreud · 05/08/2013 21:30

I've cleared the surfaces in the living room! Every bit of table top space had stuff on it gathering dust, so i cleared everything into the middle of the room and cleaned and dusted every surface. Now to tackle the pile of stuff in the middle of the room....

JKSLtd · 05/08/2013 21:49

I combined today & tomorrow off the list for the last bits in the kitchen (then only did half!) but did recipe books, most of the shelves, the cat food cupboard, etc.

Got rid of
some extra cat bowls
random kids reins
4 x recipe books
a spare cafetiere (dh had 3!, has kept 2 that he never uses & we don't have the right coffee for anymore, sigh)
a few random utensils (1 solitary fish knife!)

think that's it.

Have baking cupboard & shelf above the oven left, then it's onto DVDs, etc...leaving the kitchen yey!

JKSLtd · 05/08/2013 21:52

RightSaid that's an interesting approach! I would imagine the heap in the middle would stay there indefinitely/until DD spread it around the house! Grin

I also, finally, ordered, received & filed photos of the DC from the last 2 years into some albums and labelled the albums.
And cleared the top of the electric piano and lined the albums up in order (why i ask myself?!).

Had a good general tidy in most of the house today too :)

JKSLtd · 07/08/2013 08:57

Did baking cupboard & got rid of:
out of date food colourings x 3
Lots of packaging for cake cases & decorations
& nearly empty decoration containers.

Shelf above oven left.

JKSLtd · 07/08/2013 20:20

May have undone some of my good work with a trip to Ikea...Grin

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 07/08/2013 21:10

Through out some random bits that had gathered on kitchen work top and dealt with some paperwork but I'm feeling jaded. May take a break now till kids are back at school.

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 07/08/2013 21:10

That's only next week here before anyone thinks I'm taking a month off!

With my help my dds decluttered their sock drawers
