Done day 2: kitchen cupboards with plates glasses etc
Still got the Tupperware to do but I did that recently so should be ok.

Got rid of:
Some out of date meds (kept in with the glasses out of reach)
Full bottle of archers (to give away)
Some calpol (to give away as it seems to give my kids the runs)
Some medicine spoons/little cups

oh dear. I've just found a milk bottle under our bed.

with a bit of old milk in it. which is yellow.

I need to lie down.....

pookamoo · 01/08/2013 13:12

Delurking to say I'm in!

Decided to do the 40 day declutter but can't print it out, so I thought I'd write out the first 5 days, then come back and write out the next 5, and so on. Wish me luck!

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 01/08/2013 17:58

Today I decluttered the kitchen drawers and a cupboard in the utility. Then went out for a lovely lunch with dh. Came back and wiped down all the trofast in the playroom

JKSLtd · 01/08/2013 19:50

Have approval from Mum to get rid of Grandad's knives, so that's a good 20+ items yey.

Haven't got round to tupperware so will have to tag that onto tomorrow.

RightsaidFreud · 01/08/2013 22:26

Cleared a couple of kitchen cupboards today, threw away a stack of pans that we had been given when we moved in, only cheap ones, which somehow had rusted away even though NEVER having been used! When we moved, we given ALOT of stuff by well meaning people and members of the family, most of which we have not used. I think we need to be better at saying 'no thank you'.

pookamoo · 02/08/2013 00:16

I did the cutlery drawer today. Which also led to doing the "clingfilm and tinfoil" drawer. Threw out about 100 medicine spoons too!

pookamoo · 02/08/2013 00:17

And almost forgot, this wasn't on the list but I chucked out a whole box of old makeup that I have had for years, and sorted out old costume jewellery, (was in same box) some of which is now in DD's dressing up.

It's really hard with kids drawings and things like that, I don't have any children, but my parents STILL have some of mine and my sisters drawings and things, and I love looking through them. But saying that, they aren't cluttering up my house!

ZingWidge · 02/08/2013 12:10

I have huge problem with that! and schoolwork too.
they bring home bags of stuff every year and I can't bear to throw the writing books or spelling or pictures away.

and the one time I psyched myself up to do it the kids went into a meltdown .those things are too precious to them...

RightsaidFreud · 02/08/2013 12:27

Just watch out throwing out kids toys without asking them, my mom gave ALL of my my little ponys (bar apple jack who i managed to rescue!) to charity without telling me. True, I was 21 when she did it, but still! If I had known she was going to do it, i would have gladly taken them to my new place. I'm quite sentimental with things like that, she did the same with my sisters things and my sister didn't care!

Oh my word, what a blast from the past that is! I remember those Picture lion books from school!

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 02/08/2013 13:02

So far have decluttered drawers in living room with moderate success- a lot of the stuff belongs to dh though so it was difficult. This afternoon I'm venturing into the airing cupboard.

JKSLtd · 02/08/2013 13:16

Have done day 3;
Kitchen cupboards.
Got rid of random pan lids x 2
Sieve we never use
Old fridge egg shelves from ex-fridge
Baby purée pots (changed to blw with ds2 so they haven't been used for 6ish yrs!)
Rusty biscuit tins I was using for cakes (bought myself new proper ones the other day).

Have bought one new knife to get rid of an old one & 3 new baking trays so I can get rid of old ones of those too.
Plus a new pan of a size we don't have.

But overall doing very well Smile

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 02/08/2013 15:56

I've skipped the airing cupboard and decluttered the drawers in the main bathroom getting rid of old sun cream and other Manky lotions, potions and face cloths. Also in my ensuite I've refilled dh's Wash and Go bottle with a budget 2in 1( been doing this for a while as he is brand loyal and he still hasn't noticed Wink

I threw out old make up, put magazine samples on my bedside table so I'll use them instead of them sitting in a basket

pookamoo · 02/08/2013 18:25

Today I sold 4 wicker baskets and listed DD2's high chair on the local selling FB page. I haven't done day 2 of the declutter list though!

Today DS woke up at 6 which is earlier than normal! Anyway that meant that I had to wake and led to decluttering of a table in the dining room (full of their toys and random things like sunglasses, glue sticks etc). Threw out loads of paper and junk modeling stuff and have moved random pieces of stuff into boxes.

Have set up boxes of lollies, pencils and crud. They've happily started sorting out all their party bags.

Am going to tackle the hall way with coats and stuff now. Incredible it's only 9.30!! Grin

JKSLtd · 03/08/2013 15:42

Well done Takeaway! My kids are always up early but I have to confess I don't make much of the time - just drink tea!

Have done day 4; junk drawers with dh's & kids help. Got rid of tonnes, more than 40/50 items Grin

cikecaka · 03/08/2013 16:27

Right Day 1 done, cleared out cup/tupperware press. Any cup with a chip got the bin! Washed out press and washed outside of press!
