I thought it was time for a new Autumnal thread for all slatterns.

This thread is welcome to all who like to write lists or have loads of jobs to get done or if you need a kick up the bum for motivation. Also good for support with relationships, random advice on moths and birthday cakes!

We welcome new slatterns, post your lists here.

Back in a sec with my list.

Had mini melt down this eve, been on the go all day, pots all over kitchen, crumbs and bits all over floor, dc room a mess, ds been alternately ignoring me and answering back all day and just totally felt like i couldn't cope. Bf arrived in the middle of it cos he wanted me to do some Halloween make up on him for a party tonight and i completely bit his head off. Especially when he looked at my kitchen and joked that he thought id been busy all day. I knew he was joking but wasn't in the mood for it, especially as he was giving me yet one more task to do by asking me to do his makeup.

I do sometimes wonder if it really is as never ending as it feels or if it's just me making heavy weather of it.

And where the hell have i gone wrong with ds?? He's such hard work...whining, tantrums, not listening, arguing back...he's nearly 5 ffs not a toddler.

Still, all ok and order has been restored to my house. I'm sitting down at last and contemplating wine.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 27/10/2012 20:45

(and i have completed everything on my list PLUS the bulk of the ironing so should be happy really)

FreakoidOrganisoid · 27/10/2012 20:46

Oh. Ironing was on the list. Ignore that then Grin

Slatternismymiddlename · 28/10/2012 10:45

Freakoid - major hug from me, I completely understand where you are coming from. It's the never endingness of it all. Just as I think Im getting somewhere and take my eye off the ball for a day chaos takes over again. I'm fed up being the only one to care. hope you enjoyed your well earned glass of wine.

My list today

Tidy up from hallowe'en party last night
Hand wash good wine glasses
Freeze left over food into portions
Dishwasher loaded and on
Count PTA money (still haven't done this!)
Iron, iron, iron
Dinner prepared for tonight and tomorrow
Bags ready for tomorrow
Fancy dress costumes put away

Looking at the last few posts from everyone there would appear to be a lot of strops happening (myself included) - is this the only way to get our households moving - seems like it [hsmile]

my last post shamed me into finishing some of the tasks I started.

Minimammoth · 29/10/2012 07:57

Blimey, Slattern. You are making me feel guilty re the ironing. I do as little ironing as possible. Once a month max. ( no DCs here though) DH does his own.

House still blitzed from Pv installation. It's going to be awhile before I can find a home for some stuff. May have to buy a wardrobe. might try auction.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 29/10/2012 08:18

Slattern i used to be like that but this thread helped me to complete one task before starting another. Tick it off then move onto the other. It's much more satisfying.

Mini your list scares me! I'm rubbish at diy and garden stuff so just ignore it in the hope it will go away Blush

Minimammoth · 29/10/2012 12:48

I am not that good Freaki. Painting is ok, I have always done decorating. I used a power tool for the first time yesterday and put in 2 screws.

Slatternismymiddlename · 29/10/2012 13:40

Minimammoth - I could iron every day (which I don't which is why I have a permanent ironing mountain). I have tried to cut down on it and still find it impossible. When I do iron I prefer to have a decent go at it for a couple of hours at a time, House repeats on Sky+ being my current ironing programme of choice. But when I have a busy week that doesn't allow for such a chunk of time I can't be bothered getting started for just 20 mins here or there.

Freakoid - your list truly frightens me as it sounds very DIYish, although I am intrigued by chocolate courgette cake.........

Hello Lollipop, Cikecaka and Gummi. Sorry if I have left anyone out.

Tonights list

Count PTA money
Iron
Find cheque book because the bank are going to charge me £10 to issue a new one!!

Ooops, sorry HalfMum I forgot to say hello to you too. Your list would take me probably about a year to complete!

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 30/10/2012 12:58

Mine is more of a long term type list to remind me that stuff needs doing.

OP posts:
cikecaka · 30/10/2012 18:25

Slatternismymiddlename · 01/11/2012 10:36

Morning all. I am please to say I have finally counted and lodged the PTA money, it was stressing me out having it in the house.

DH tackled the ironing mountain and reduced it a bit.

Normal household stuff to be tackled today.

Hope you are all well and ticking something of those lists [hsmile]

FreakoidOrganisoid · 01/11/2012 10:55

Hello everyone.
I've failed on half term industriousness as have been feeling poorly. I have been using my tumble dryer though Grin

My nanny died on Tue :-(

Today i need to
Rearrange vet appointment -done
Go to supermarket
Hoover edges downstairs ( im very good at Hoovering the middle of the room regularly not so good at going round the edges with the hosey bit)
Dust

That will do. I'm still not 100%

cikecaka · 01/11/2012 17:48

So sorry about your nanny Freak. {{{{{hugs}}}}

My house is being over run with teenagers!!! Not complaining too much as its nice to know where DS and DD2 are so it saves on worrying about them. But I am getting nothing done. [hsad]

Need to
Unload dishwasher and reload it

Slatternismymiddlename · 02/11/2012 11:58

Morning. Hugs to Freakoid.

Today I have

Loaded dishwasher
Tumble on
Washing machine on 3rd load
DD's bed made - and then unmade by her
Tent for DS erected -which now means I cant tidy up the rest of his room
My bed stripped
My bedroom dusted
DD's room dusted

Have stuff with the kids for the rest of the day so nothing ese will get done.

JKSLtd · 02/11/2012 14:50

Hi everyone, hugs Freak.

Had good trip to parents in Devon, managed the drive back with the DC on my own fine too

Mother drives me nuts though, can't help but compare to MIL who is fab. I know, weird eh?

Looking forward to the boys going back to school now so I can get on top of things at home
Though DH is away on a work trip from Mon to the following Mon, I think. Not sure when he'll get home actually. Think the weekend is going to be the killer, no structure, etc. Oh and 2 football sessions at the same time in different places Hmm

Rest of today:

  • finish ironing
  • put away loads of clean clothes
  • more washing on
  • get DD up before too long (just checked and she's fast asleep)
  • clear away 'art' work in kitchen
  • DH home at some point, maybe early
  • DC tea & tidy kitchen
  • DC bath (of sorts) & bed
  • dinner, tv (v. behind on Sky+) & bed

Ongoing:

  • family tree (scanning in old certs & photos & email contact); get moving on this, and see if my Mum wants stuff looked up; Told Mum to email me questions
  • buy frames to hang on the wall & hang up as many photos as poss; need some sizes; get sizes into phone for TKMaxx trip
  • lose weight! (From: 66kg; Target: 54kg); Scales said 55.1; stuck atm
  • sort wills; nudge DH to see what he wants to do
  • clear out of the top of my desk
  • kids photos albums; upload onto Snapfish; order printouts; put in albums. Step 1; sort all photos on iPhoto Doing
  • try and sell unwanted light? eBay + other stuff?
  • order new raincover for buggy
  • start cycling with DD to playgroups after half-term

Christmas:

  • wrap DC presents bought so far (pretty near finished shopping I think, just a few stocking fillers maybe)
  • list what food I've already bought (choc tin, biscuit tin, cracker box...)
  • find out if younger brother might be coming?
  • wait to see if parents book cruise or come to us Hmm
  • early Christmas with PIL prep
  • get advent calendars
