Welcome to the thread where we try to do what we can.

Some of you might like to try:
babysteps

Others may just want to do what you feel you can.
Life has a habit of throwing hurdles in the way!
Lets try to do what we can one step at a time.

All newcomers welcome. Smile

I've hung up the washing and have put on the second load.

DS is sleeping on the couch.

Seems to have stopped being sick and kept down some water and squash. He's asked for milk but I don't think that's a good idea just yet.

The house is eerily quiet. I'm not used to that!

Dd has phoned. They are on the way home but she wants to go and play at her friends house. She's not missed us at all then huh!

raindropsinmyhair · 04/06/2012 14:50

Thanks for the welcomes!

So far:

Cleaned and hoovered living room
Sorted out toys (which will be messed up again in a few hours!)
2x loads of washing
Unpacked a remaining box of bits and bobs and sorted

Don't think we'll have time to paint today but shall see

carrotsandcelery · 04/06/2012 14:51

Your poor ds. Bugs like that are the pits. Sad I really hope it is a 24 hour thing and he bounces back fast.

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 04/06/2012 15:11

Thanks carrots :)

I hope so too. I think it is. He started throwing up yesterday at my mums at 1 in the afternoon so it looks like its been almost exactly 24 hours as he's kept some drinks down now. He's just very sleepy and it looks like the sickness bug is on top of a viral hand foot and mouth thing.

I'm fed up of scooby doo though!

Off to find the headphones so I can watch the iplayer next to him.

liveinazoo · 04/06/2012 16:57

carrotsandcelery · 04/06/2012 18:10

Dd was sick with h f & m too iirc. We were travelling home from yorkshire tho so were never sure if the journey pushed her over the edge. She was only about one.
I have asked dh to do load 4 in the dw. I suspect i might have lost it if i had had to do it again.
A friend has just shown me round her brand new house. I could have hugged her as she showed me every single room a.d it was just as dishevelled as mine. Grin

raindropsinmyhair · 04/06/2012 20:35

Also, just wondering how you all arrange housework- do you do a certain amount of time a day and as and when needed, or do you also have set jobs for different days?

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 04/06/2012 20:54

Raindrops- he's doing ok. Kept down lots of fluids and half a crumpet and is tucked up in bed.

He's had h,f & m before but wasn't sick before and I'd not heard it was a symptom but it would be bad luck to get two things at once.

Not managed much more today as he was wanting lots of stories and just generally for me to sit on the couch with him. I don't mind, it's guilt free down time :o

I'm goin to be working with a daily list and the zones. Just downloaded the Home routines app which looks great so far.

Had a play around editing the zones and lists so think I'm all set for daily things to do.

Just tucked DD in bed. She's exhausted from her camping trip bless her.

Shined my sink :o

Now I'm off to bed to catch up on my lost sleep.

Goodnight everyone!

carrotsandcelery · 04/06/2012 22:25

Adora that is the most entertaining list for ages.
You are going to have fun.

Raindrops we all have our own ways of doing things. I have tried lots of different ways and find different methods suit me at different times depending on my mood.

I generally have a morning routine that I do every day (more or less) and I have got to the stage that I don't feel right unless it is done, which I view as a success.

I then do other bits and pieces as the mood takes me.

I have found success following flylady to the letter in the past but I am struggling with that just now.

I am working on building routines for other times of day gradually, which is a flylady tactic, I am just taking my time with it Grin

Ta Das:

finished loading the dw as dh only did some of it
hung washing
put kitchen cushion covers in a delicate wash
fed the dogs
picked dd up from her adventure
tidied up my beading stuff
made a bracelet

carrotsandcelery · 04/06/2012 22:25

Ooops!

Sorry about the thesis.

Good luck tonight Charlie

AdoraBell · 05/06/2012 03:06

Raindrops

I tend to have a loose list, starting with laundry and feeding dogs, clear kitchen, DW and wipe sides, dust and vacuum, beds, bathrooms and then whatever comes up. I can't face doing the same thing day in day out, so I vary the jobs as much as I can. Of course now that I'm dealing with two puppies Grin it's all gone out the window.

Carrots, I've had a very amusing afternoon
So, I managed to eat a proper lunch, mushroom omelette, AND have a quick bubble bath before the pm school run. Other than that I've spent the afternoon giggling at the antics of the puppiesGrinGrin

Charlie, hope your DS feels better very soon

CatsSleepAnywhere · 05/06/2012 05:16

Raindrops I just tend to do little bits here and there as and when I feel up to it. --I am trying to get better from depression/anxiety at the mo--
Hopefully one day I will do better.

I don't always manage to get on here to list everything at the mo cause DD is being quite clingy and it's a family computer so has to be shared.

Because DD is being clingy, I have decided to try and get her to "help" me with some jobs --otherwise I would get nothing done--
Also dealing with an ongoing potty training saga at the mo but now getting help/advice from the health visitor.

Just need to remember that things will get easier with time! Wink

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 05/06/2012 08:34

Cats, there is a potty training support thread which might be useful.

Morning everyone.

Ta das
bed made
bathroom s&s
worktops cleaned
packed lunch for dd and me made
sofa covers in wash (only half fitted in) v anxious about this.
Dw loaded
ds fed

app seems to have novelty factor at least.

Charlie, how is ds today?

Adora, how are pups? Our twilight isnt even up yet!

raindropsinmyhair · 05/06/2012 10:38

Morning everyone

I think I'm going to try and establish abit of a routine for the day- thanks everyone for giving me ideas! Cats I think you're doing really well doing what you can- I know from experience and how everyday things can seem like huge tasks. I still have days where I feel like that to be honest- I'm already finding this thread really helpful, glad I found it Smile

Ta das so far:

Twins up, fed and dressed
Breakfast
built towers and played with bricks
Tidied away toys from morning play
Kitchen sides cleaned and washing up done
Highchairs cleaned
One load of washing sorted

To do:

2x washing (at least- baby and blankets)
Tidy Conservatory
Put clothes away upstairs
Take cots apart
Try new recipe for twins lunch

Have a great day everyone!

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 05/06/2012 11:08

Morning everyone :)

DS is better so I should get quite a bit done today :)

Ta dahs:

Morning dishes
1 x washing load
Cleared the dumping ground chair
Swept all through
Unpacked the shopping
Taken the rubbish out

And this morning DD and I worked through the home routins app on her phone. She had An auditory memory disorder so I've worked to checklists with her for a while but the app is more interactive and feels more exciting for her I think. So she now has her daily chores and one 15 minutes zone session. I've scaled it right down but given her different zones to what I'm doing each day. She's ploughed through her morning ones and a few of her afternoon ones already. Since its the holidays I've said she can do them in whatever order she likes.

It's proved a very useful app so far :)

CatsSleepAnywhere · 05/06/2012 16:21

I have been --having a nervous breakdown-- making some jam drops with my DC this afternoon. (in oven now) Not sure how they will turn out! Hmm

As a result the kitchen needs a good clean! --flour everywhere--

OP posts:
CatsSleepAnywhere · 05/06/2012 20:47

The jam drops turned out quite nice. Have had quite a good day energy wise. done quite a few jobs here and there. DH tidied DS bedroom so we are just hoping it will stay like that. it looks good!

Ta dahs for today
Slept, slept and slept some more. Feel loads better for it though so I really needed it!

Washed down wall in spare room that had mould on it using a solution of ordinary detergent. Mould due to condensation from drying washing there I think. Now we have cavity wall insulation, this should be better.

Then washed down again using mould killer solution.

Vacuumed behind sofa bed and pushed sofa bed back into place (had to move it to get to mouldy wall!)

Cut up old memory foam mattress topper into bits to go in bin. ( A bit Sad about this because it was expensive to buy but it had already broken into 2 pieces because of being rolled up and now some of it had mould on as well so decided it had to go!)

Started vacuuming rest of floor

Put sofa bed throw in washer (with extra germ killer stuff in case it had mould on, though I couldn't see any!)

Used new toy handheld steam cleaner to clean windows. Not so sure it was good a this tbh but it had been useful in kitchen (eg cleaning bits of caramelised bread off top metal piece of toaster)

OK - considering I slept until after 6.00pm I reckon I'm good to keep going until 10.00pm at least!

Still feel tired believe it or not!

OptimisticPessimist · 05/06/2012 21:36

Thanks for the welcome! I don't have a goal as such (probably should!) but the house needs to be ready to pack by June 28th, and then we go away for a week, come back on the 8th and have three days to actually pack before moving on the 12th! TBH if I get the rubbish and clutter shifted as I'm intending then 3 days should be ample time for me to pack - most of the kids' toys are already stored in plastic boxes, and we don't have loads in the way of ornaments or anything like that. Most of my clutter is old letters/multiple paintings from school and similar, so once that's sorted and either binned or boxed it shouldn't be too bad

Ta Dahs for Today
Kitchen worktops tidied and cleaned
Cooker top cleaned
Chicken cooked, and in the fridge
3rd wash in washing machine atm, 2nd is in the dryer, 1st has been put away.
2 loads in dishwasher and emptied
Dishwasher loaded again and just needs put on before I go to bed

To Dos for tomorrow
Tidy and sweep hallway
Hoover stairs/landing/bedrooms
Tidy/sweep playroom
Bin stuff as I go along
Phone council to uplift old prams etc that are in the garage

Looks like DS2 is now ill and will probably be off nursery tomorrow :(so once DS1 is off to school I should have a good stretch at home to get stuff done.

carrotsandcelery · 05/06/2012 23:29

My dd is looking doubtful too Optimistic and she has a school trip tomorrow. My tummy is feeling "squishy" as well, although it could just be exhaustion for us both and nothing a good night's sleep wouldn't fix.

On that note - time for bed!

Sleep well everyone.

raindropsinmyhair · 06/06/2012 07:46

Mornoing everyone

I'm so tired today and dh is back at work but going to try and have a productive (ish) day

To do:

Tidy toys throughout day
2X clothes washing
Clean kitchen after each meal
Wash bed covers
Get items ready for freecycle
30 mins exercise
Go to new doctors to get registration forms if I can drag myself out of the house

CatsSleepAnywhere · 06/06/2012 09:21

Morning all, we have half term holiday here (1 week) so I have decided to use reward charts to try and make sure everyone behaves. Wink
I might do something like a reward chart for myself for each job I get done. I am starting to feel better so the tablets must be taking effect! Smile I had a good day yesterday too so feeling a bit more optimistic.

Hope everyone else is well!

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 06/06/2012 09:53

Morning everyone.

I am glad you are beginning to feel good effects Cats. Your posts are much more optimistic these days which is lovely.

raindrops the best cure might be getting your head down and getting on with it - I will buddy with you if you need it as I am in cleaning frenzy mode until 3pm.

Ta Das:
washed and dressed
lunches made for both dcs today
dw unloaded and reloaded
kitchen windowsill decluttered and scrubbed
kitchen sink blind hoovered - was Shock at the state of it
fiddly groove between sink and kitchen scrubbed and disinfected - need to do more often
bought more polish, bleach and rubber gloves - BUAV approved for all of course

having breakfast and a Brew just now then onwards and upwards
