Welcome to the thread where we try to do what we can.

Some of you might like to try:
babysteps

Others may just want to do what you feel you can.
Life has a habit of throwing hurdles in the way!
Lets try to do what we can one step at a time.

All newcomers welcome. Smile

Morning all!

I seem to be on hyper mode again this morning. I sense it may not last though.

Ta Das:
swished and swiped main bathroom
put hair remover down bath plughole to see if it will make it drain more quickly
unloaded and reloaded dw
clean worktops
put wash on
make an ENORMOUS lasagne incase we end up with half the village to feed again tonight
helped ds get his breakfast (and seconds)
tiny bit of decluttering in kitchen
listened to ds go on and on and on and on and on and on ... about computer game characters

educatingarti · 04/06/2012 09:55

Morning again!

Pathetic Ta dahs so far
Dressed and breakfasted
emptied dishwasher and put in more dirties
put a load of washing on

educatingarti · 04/06/2012 11:03

Report on 1st half-hour
Taken out one lot of recycling to main communal recycling bins
Sorted through old degree notes and put in bag for even more recycling (having removed old rusting staples and treasury tags - aren't I good - this is what took the time though!)
Going through the degree notes I am amazed at how much one person can forget ( presumably I did know what it was all about once!)

Degree notes were in crumbling old cardboard box in middle of spare room floor - hence (note mathematical term from looking at all old notes!) it contributes to my aim of sorting out my spare room.

raindropsinmyhair · 04/06/2012 11:03

Hi everyone- would I be able to join in please?! Smile

I am in desperate need of getting myself organised and a kick up the bum

I have one year old twins and to be honest I'm finding it hard to keep on top of things in the house at the moment. We also moved house a couple of months ago and still have some unpacking and lots of sorting to do.

Done this morning:

Cleaned kitchen
cleaned bathroom

Twins are at my parents house today so DH and I need to:

Sort through toys and tidy living room
tidy dining room
sort out conservatory
at least 2 loads of washing
hoover
paint dining room
sort some of spare bedroom

and drink wine at some point

educatingarti · 04/06/2012 11:34

Raindrops - you are very welcome!

carrotsandcelery · 04/06/2012 12:03

Hi raindrops!

Sounds like you have quite a lot to contend with. You will get there a step at a time.

Welcome to the thread.

Further Ta Das:

washed and dressed (just dressed when dd's friend appeared)
dw unloaded and reloaded
dry washing folded and put away
wet washing hung
new load in wm
kitchen table cleaned

OptimisticPessimist · 04/06/2012 12:33

Can I join in? Need to spend June doing massive house tidy and declutter as I am moving in July to a much smaller house (and hoping to start as I mean to go on once I get there!)

Kids were meant to be at school today but DS1 is ill so have them at home

So far today I have done not very much so need to get my arse in gear Blush

Today's To Do List:

Living Room
Tidy floor - currently an obstacle course
Tidy DVDs/cases from mantelpiece
Tidy and wipe computer desk
Sweep floor incl. under sofas
Hoover underneath sofa cushions
Wash floor

educatingarti · 04/06/2012 12:54

The more the merrier OP

You all sound like you are doing better than me!

carrotsandcelery · 04/06/2012 13:08

Hi optimistic - welcome to the thread.

Have you set yourself a goal for your packing and decluttering? eg pack a box, declutter by one black bag per day or something like that?

We have a chatty thread too if any of the newbies would like to come and chat as well. It is called something like stepping, chatting and ranting or some variation on that theme and is in the Good Housekeeping section as well.

Ta Das:

Survived the black meringue fiasco that is 11 yo girls in the kitchen
made a HUGE omlette for lunch to use up the left over egg yolks
sighed at the number of dishes despite the dishwasher being on twice already today - it is still too hot to empty so I will have to take a break Grin

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 04/06/2012 13:21

I'd like to join you ladies :)

I am not very organised in the housework department but want to get into the habit of doing it more regularly rather then leaving it until there's a last minute panic because someone is due round :o

I'm in an odd position just now. We were meant to be getting placed in temporary accommodation over the next week or so but have now been told we have until the end of August. Unfortunately we didn't get told that until the boxes were packed!

So, most of my house is clutter free which was often the big obstacle in my mind. So now I have the time and space to create a routine. And also something that will carry on through to the new house. I'm actually excited about unpacking in the new place as I was brutal about chucking/recycling/selling the junk. The stuff in the boxes is all important stuff we need.

All that's left out is a small amount of clothes, one crockery and cutlery setting each, one small basket of toys for each of the kids and not much else. I'm hoping starting the routine with such a small amount of stuff will simply help me form good habits to help me cope later on :)

I've shined my sink. I'm starting with the baby steps and will have a proper read through of this thread now :)

carrotsandcelery · 04/06/2012 13:31

Hi Charlie, come on in.

I feel quite Envy of your empty, clutter free house.

CharlieUniformNovemberTango · 04/06/2012 13:58

Thanks carrots :)

It's amazing how big it all looks! I'm starting to like the very minimalist look :o

It actually means I can concentrate on the daily cleaning more. Whereas before it took forever just to tidy stuff up let alone clean under it all.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 04/06/2012 14:06

Hi all, Welcome all new people! Smile

I tried to post earlier but we had visitors turn up so couldn't. I haven't got a lot done today yet.
Am showered and dressed and have washed up x 1. Need to do some washing at some point but the DC want to go out to the park. We will probably go to the park at some point today as it is nice weather and the forecast for the rest of the week is not great!

I find it's hard to get much done on half term holiday week.

carrotsandcelery · 04/06/2012 14:47

I have a washing mountain too after my strike rest last week. I can only dry so much at a time though so I will have to catch up gradually. Priorities are clean underwear everyone Grin

Dw is on for the third time today and there are STILL dishes soaking in the sink.
Crisps have been decluttered

I still have washing to hang and a table to clean again - round and round in circles like a teddy bear! (why does a teddy bear go round in circles?)
