Come inside for a Brew and a Biscuit and maybe even a Wine if the mood takes you.

A thread for chatter and nonsense Grin

Would be nice to go away with my boys but suddenly thought what it could mean for my small boy.

liveinazoo · 04/05/2012 21:27

its a shame men dont think things through scout

its not so easy when trailing dcs to just up sticks and break routinesSad

Toddler's fairly laid back and easy going, like MrScout usually is but this whole big boy bed thing is still new and we rocked it today. I just don't want to undo it all.

carrotsandcelery · 04/05/2012 21:49

What has he already arranged Scout? A hotel? Your inlaws? You might get away with it but it might be ruined by worrying about what impact it will have on the sleep pattern.

He's only just got home and is having dinner, so I wanted to wait until he finished dinner before grilling him. But I think it's a hotel -- if we were going to the in-laws for the weekend I'd have gone down this morning and he wouldn't have come home last night.

carrotsandcelery · 04/05/2012 21:53

Hmmmm! A hotel does sound very tempting Smile

Scout19075 · 04/05/2012 21:58

Oh yes, it does sound good. I love weekends with my boys and a chance to go away from the dishes/cooking/decluttering is so tempting and exciting but it suddenly hit that Toddler's new bedtime routine/process is still new. Well, the routine is still the same but the sideless bed is new.

bessie26 · 04/05/2012 21:59

what would he sleep in at a hotel? have you got a readybed? or a side thingy to put on a regular bed?

Scout19075 · 04/05/2012 22:00

bessie, that's part of what's worrying me -- I don't know!

bessie26 · 04/05/2012 22:06

I wouldn't have thought hotels would do low-down beds?

We got one like this for DD1 to nap in at the GPs (she goes there once a week) - she absolutely loved it, but we didn't have any problems getting her to stay in her toddler bed (we have problems getting her out of it [rollseyes])

Later, my ILs got one of these and she now naps in a regular bed at their house.

Do you have a mothercare or similar nearby you could pick one up?

bessie26 · 04/05/2012 22:07

although I guess you could just put pillows & duvet on the floor next to the bed incase he did roll out? (DD1 has only fallen out of her bed 3 times in 1.5yrs)

Scout19075 · 04/05/2012 22:10

I've seen the rails at Tesco, too.

Some hotels do roll-away beds which always seem lower than a normal bed. Could shove it to a wall or big bed as a "barrier" of sorts then it would be like home where his bed is next to the wall.

bessie26 · 04/05/2012 22:25

cool. Just make sure the room mrScout has booked is suitable! When we are at CenterParcs we always have to move all the beds out of the way to make room for DD1's tween ready bed & DD2's cot!

bessie26 · 04/05/2012 22:34

Savoury scones & breakfast bars (& other things)

Scout19075 · 04/05/2012 22:40

MrScout is usually very good when it comes to thinking of things that for/sorting things out for Toddler.

I think I'm going to bed -- Good night!

carrotsandcelery · 04/05/2012 22:41

Had a wee peek - looks like just what I need actually. Thank you again bessie. Do you think the nuggets you made would be nice cold in a packed lunch box?

Dh won't let me do the lego wall thing. He says it would be too exciting for ds lying in bed. The only real wall in his room is the one his bed is beside. His other long wall is all fitted wardrobes. Booo!

OP posts:
carrotsandcelery · 04/05/2012 22:43

He is right but still - boooo!

Scout I hope you get a really good rest and can figure out what is best for you all in the morning.

Night night Scout!

bessie26 · 04/05/2012 22:54

Night scout!

carrots - is there another wall in the house you could do the lego thing on?

CatsSleepAnywhere · 05/05/2012 07:00

Morning all, DD woke me up at 6.30am (Not impressed!). Too early for a Saturday!

carrotsandcelery · 05/05/2012 07:49

Morning everyone!

Ds has stayed away all night Shock I was sent a text just before bed to say that he was snoring away with the family cat Grin

Let's hope he didn't get up at silly o'clock!

bessie I have been wondering about other walls. There is nowhere obvious. I am wondering about the 2 outside doors of his wardrobe. There are 4 sliding doors. 2 go infront and 2 go behind. They are tinted mirrored doors and really not my style so I would be delighted to wreck decorate them Grin

Dh was in a bad mood last night so it was a silly time to mention it.
