I forgot to mention I had to wash the bathroom walls today: not the tiles but the painted bits of the walls. They were all dusty. Is that normal?

AdoraBell · 11/05/2012 00:26

Hello , can I join you please. Got a bleeding enormous house to clean and 3 messy pups 2 DCs, OH and two dogs. The dogs don't make nearly as much mess as the DCs and OH is learning. We're trying sell the monster we call home so it needs to be show-home immaculate. Short of forcing the family to move out I don't see how I can achieve this. help.

I'll have a look through the thread later, need to get dinner done and then clean the other half of the kitchen.

AdoraBell · 11/05/2012 04:29

So, today I vacuumed upstairs and down, did the bathrooms, 5 loads of laundry, shopping, collected DCs from school, cooked dinner, put dishwasher on, made a chocolate cake instead of cleaning the kitchen, prepped pack lunches for the DCs, sat down and scoffed cake.

I think I've done enough, I'm going to bed- I'm sure the stuff will stay clean in the dishwasher over night.

Longtalljosie · 11/05/2012 06:58

Hello Adorabell!

Yesterday I did some more decluttering. That's got to be the key for me, really. I'll never get the house tidy if there are no available cupboards to store things in...

carrotsandcelery · 11/05/2012 07:29

Hi adorabell, welcome to the thread. Please feel very welcome to join our chatty thread as well. I think it is called stepping and chatting or something like that. I am on my phone so i cant do a link. Sorry!
Josie decluttering seems to be the key. I have been doing this for ages band the more i get rid of stuff the easier each area becomes. I have years of hoarding to tackle so it is taking me a while but i am determined.

DD is at nursery. I have a haircut at 11 so not much time left (need to get off arse). But it's only been a short break, I have been out repotting / rescuing the plants. I've wanted to do this for about a fortnight but every time DD has been asleep / at nursery it has monsooned down. Done now - and courgette plants back in the greenhouse. I think they'll survive but not sure. I think I should have planted them later actually.

"Housework done incorrectly still blesses your family". How do you do housework incorrectly? If anyone has done housework incorrectly (perhaps like that lady in the TV license advert who mixes up the baby and dog food) all examples would be laughed at welcome...

AdoraBell · 11/05/2012 13:26

Thanks for the welcomeSmile

I wouldn't know how to do housework incorrectly although OH may disagree on that point , to mind mind if the housework is done, it's done!

I also need to declutter. I'm not too bad, but we've moved stuff around for years before shipping it to South America and it just kind of builds up over time. Last year I was getting rid of old papers and found a TV licence in OH's name, from 1981. We met in 1996 and he accuses me of hoardingConfused . Right now I'm planning on stuffing the cupboards and garage because tomorrow we're enertaining (barbeque) OH's clients and staff. After that, stuff has to go, his, the DC's and a bit of mine.

Had my hair done two weeks ago, I must remember to go back for a trim before 2013. I'm not very good at getting things done for myself.

Welcome to AdoraBell! hope you get some inspiration to keep going here! Grin

Today I have done loads of gardening, had a (much needed) sleep, cooked tea, bathed, loaded dirties into dishwasher and set it off. I'm currently doing 10 mins of work prep followed by a couple of household tasks/dry my hair a bit more etc. Just off to take dry clothes from airer - with the aim of putting more wet ones on!

AdoraBell · 11/05/2012 22:54

My day was halfway hopeless, I did do some laundry and the kitchen floor, plus the wooden floors, but I have yet to do the washing-up from lunch. I ate rather late and ran out to the school run. Am now dosing myself up with caffeine before doing dinner. Dusting was done yesterday but will need to be done again in the morning, it's very dry and dusty here. I have the link to Baby step 11 open on the iPad, I may tackle it once the DCs are in bed in a few hours time.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 12/05/2012 04:46

Hi AdoraBell Which country are you in? Most of us are in England and Scotland. I am up way too early in the morning! Woke up at 3am and couldn't get back too sleep. Hmm HERE is our "Chat" thread if you want to join us. We sometimes have a moan over there too. Blush

Morning everyone. I am being a total slob so far today. I am just having a Brew and some breakfast and hoping that gets me going. Dd has gone to the shop for some basics for me as we have a Herman Friendship Cake and we don't have what we need to feed him.

If anyone would like a section to "grow" when he is finished then pm me your address and I will post you some Grin

carrotsandcelery · 13/05/2012 10:27

Ta Das:

Bathroom cleaned (again) after Twilight's bathing experience last night
downstairs hoovered thoroughly

That's not bad for this time on a Sunday morning. Smile

carrotsandcelery · 13/05/2012 13:16

Ta Das:
Lentil soup made for lunch (and now eaten - yum!)
Goulash in slow cooker for tea

Hoping now to relax for a wee while. FX.

carrotsandcelery · 13/05/2012 14:13

Ta Das:

Velcroed ds's blackout blind to his windowframe. It looks awful but will hopefully help him to sleep longer on the light mornings. Fx again!

CatsSleepAnywhere · 13/05/2012 15:24

I have done 1 load of washing and hanged it to dry. I have then had a hour or 2 to spend on my painting. Smile
DH rescued the kitchen (from washing up) this morning.

DS is playing out
and DD is watching a dvd.

Just gonna have a Brew then I will start on dinner.

carrotsandcelery · 13/05/2012 16:53

Hi Cats my ds is out playing with another boy in our street too and I have "ants in my pants" as dh is calling it. Blush I can't sit still and keep trying to peek out the window to see if I can see him.

Dd has a friend to play so they are happy mucking around together.

I have listed another 12 things on ebay (free listings), hung a load of washing, put another wash on, made a rhubarb crumble (yum!) and picked up continually behind several dcs. I have also been playing with pup and trying to groom Twilight who is only in the mood to have her back end brushed Hmm

educatingarti · 13/05/2012 17:40

Hi there everyone! Trying to motivate myself, but I'm feeling very tired! So far I have

Got up showered, breakfasted, dressed and dried hair.
Walked (yes walked - but it is only about 3/4 of a mile) to church
Walked back after church
Cooked a healthy(ish) dinner (but I did put a teaspoon of sugar on the strawberries Blush )
Washed 2 loads and got them drying outside
Did some ironing and mending - nearly at the bottom of my ironing pile for the moment!
Watched loads of junk tv

I need to empty bins and plastics/glass recycling bag
Tidy up kitchen and set off dishwasher
finish ironing final 2 items and put ironing board and mending stuff away!
10 minute dusting house blessing
10 minutes vacuuming house blessing
Do my physio exercises

I could do an ebay listing or two ( but may not get round to it - its the darn photographing everything that puts me off!!). Anyone want to buy a Haynes car manual for a car that is pretty old but not yet classic!? I have loads we cleared from my Dad's study ( sadly his driving and buying old car days are over now Sad )
