its cool to talk through things even of they are a bit sad

on the naming front atticus adn scout aare most popular followed by kit and caboodle

lots other names being added.ive just put in another one i forgot to add in the original post!

carrotsandcelery · 12/04/2012 16:54

Hello everyone.

Cats and zoo Sad That is a sad conversation but it is also very healthy to talk about things.

Scout Grrrr! for the ice cream van! Can you offer him TS in the style of zoo to frighten him into parking elsewhere? Either that or complain every time, loudly, while people are buying and it might make business sense for him to move elsewhere.

liveinazoo · 12/04/2012 17:05

just popping in before we have dinner

i will need some pointy sticking a bit later to keep me going i think
ive got a nasty case of CBA and feel a bit tired and flat today

carrotsandcelery · 12/04/2012 17:17

Toast and marmite seems to be the meal of the day and very good for their B12 is it not? Grin

Scout19075 · 12/04/2012 17:31

How does one small boy (aged 2 1/2 at the end of the month) acquire so many clothes?! I've been finding the spare/family/Toddler's bathroom and sorting out the heaps of clothes in there too small, currently wearable and for future use (read: too big yet). His plastic drawers unit currently can't contain all of his future & current clothes so will need to move the futures elsewhere. If I knew for sure that we wouldn't need warm clothes again I'd put those away instead but let's face it, I live in East Anglia it could be cold all year 'round!

That said, I now have a lovely bag of goodies for friend (Toddler's best friend's mum) for her nearly 1 year old son. Grin

When I get over to the To Do/Ta Dah list thread I can put it all on my extended declutter/room rescue/stuff out of the house list. Grin Grin

Off to sort out some dinner for Toddler.

carrotsandcelery · 12/04/2012 17:43

Sounds like great work done Scout. I have a section in ds's wardrobe of clothes that have been handed down to him which are too big for now. It is a huge comfort that I won't have to replace an entire wardrobe of clothes when he goes up to those sizes.

Dh found out today that he has been awarded a good performance bonus. These come in the form of shop vouchers (I presume it is some sort of tax loop). When he has had them in the past it has always been John Lewis but his boss emailed him a huge list today and asked where he wanted the vouchers from.

He emailed me to ask which shops and I felt a huge wave of relief wash over me. I realised a few days ago (as you all know) that dd needs a pair of jeans (she would like 2 Shock) and realised yesterday that ds has made a hole in the knee of one pair of jeans (which were getting small anyway) and that the pair he had on were too short and flapping around his ankles. Blush

I have already had to say to my riding instructor today that I didn't think I would be able to ride until after the summer hols as the budget is so nippy. (I could have cried and kept my sunglasses on as I told her.)

This eases things a little bit more.

My upcoming ebay frenzy will hopefully make things better still.

My dmum also reminded me that I have saved all my Tesco vouchers too so can exchange them for cinema tickets etc to fund some days out over the summer hols.

I have realised that some planning and preparation is required if we are going to survive the summer without ending up as we did after Christmas.

liveinazoo · 12/04/2012 17:48

im not sure if you areinterested scout but the tonight programme on itv at 7.30 is about why some parents are nt having their children imunised and the rise in infectious diseases.

having eaten marmite and cheese at lunch i felt bad not making more of an effort for dinner...frozen veg,tin baked beans, tomato puree and rsemary are now simmering away with some riceif this burns i will give up!

the zoolets are in overdrive,iv no idea how im going to get them to settle down and go to bed in an hour....

scout east anglia requires serious amounts clothes especially for the mumsWink

liveinazoo · 12/04/2012 17:52

lets all start praying for nice weather in the summer hols so picnics and trips out walking /to the park are possible

the zoolets have been told having the cats is the end spoiling and will have knuckle down and accept we arent made of money

austerity is all the rage so we are very fashionable, hip and happening carrotsSmile

liveinazoo · 12/04/2012 17:53

p.s that was intended to make you smile carrots not come across as patronizing

liveinazoo · 12/04/2012 17:57

i cant believe..a dish has just leapt out of the cupboard and cracked onto the surface, sending cutlery splintering everywhere and chunks out of a plastic jug..i cant find all the pieces so am assuming some bits ended up in teh stew, whch s is boiling will be melting in nicely

i am now crying and really fed up.im just not meant to put dinner on the table tonight

carrotsandcelery · 12/04/2012 18:00

Ha ha zoo! We are ok, we just need to be realistic.

If the weather is decent during the summer then we will spend it dog walking, picnics and parks very happily (and cheaply).

Tbh, the dcs would be happy kicking around the house most of the summer - it is me who goes a bit mental Blush

I was thinking I should save for one day out a week when they are off and have enough in that weekly budget for a friend to come along too.

We are away with my dparents the first week which my dparents treat us to so I will need the cash to take them out for dinner or buy a takeaway or similar that week.

The second week dd is going to my dmil so she will need spending money to take granny out and for a thank you gift for granny.

The third week dd is hoping to go to pony camp. Eeek!

It all adds up to heaps and heaps of money. Shock

Cats are you going to join me on an ebay frenzy?

carrotsandcelery · 12/04/2012 18:01

Oh xposts zoo - your feet are firmly on the ground and not in "it"!

carrotsandcelery · 12/04/2012 18:03

CatsSleepAnywhere · 12/04/2012 20:26

Carrots, I wouldn't know how or where to start with ebay. I've never even visited the site.

bessie26 · 12/04/2012 20:39

hi, just checking in. I am feeling a bit better today, have eaten a bit & have made a start on catching up with the laundry.

RE: the memories thing. I got this Grandparents journal for mine last xmas & told them I wanted it filled & returned to me this coming xmas. Grandad has had a lovely time filling it in, but has complained that some of the spaces aren't big enough for his stories!

CatsSleepAnywhere · 12/04/2012 20:40

CatsSleepAnywhere · 12/04/2012 20:41

Hi bessie glad you feeling a bit better. Smile I will be off to bed soon.

carrotsandcelery · 12/04/2012 20:44

zoo you are doing the right thing with the spending and the gifts and the expectation. It is not an easy road to travel but they will thank you for it in later life, when they don't build up massive credit card bills thinking they can always have what they want and have it straight away.

I found an exercise book of my own from when I was a dc recently and it was the journal or diary that our teacher got us to write when we first came into school in the morning. It happened to be my 8th birthday entry that struck a chord with me. I got a much longed for pair of roller skates, a book and some vests sent in the post from a great Aunt. It was clear from my entry that I was really excited and happy. I can remember that day, and skating up and down the path infront of my parents house with one parent holding each arm. It was the fact that my dmum came out to play with me, we had cake, it was my day etc.

Don't lose heart xx

carrotsandcelery · 12/04/2012 20:48

We have had an eventful evening. Dd accidentally whacked ds on the nose (it was an accident as I saw it happen) on the trampoline and it bled for ages. I was getting jumpy and thinking I would have to take him to the hospital as it was pouring rather than dribbling iykwim but it suddenly stopped. It didn't ease off, it just stopped.

I thought it best not to send him straight off to bed so we stuck up his art work in his newly tidied bedroom (we got blutak when we picked up dd) and lay on his floor playing with moshi monsters for a while. Grin

It is so nice upstairs now. We only have the 2 bedrooms and reasonable landing up there which has their bookcases and dd's dolls house on it. The landing goes between the 2 rooms so it has become a natural part of their space.

Now I just have to encourage them to maintain it, so it is not a 3 day job to unearth it all next time.

CamperWidow · 12/04/2012 20:50

Well, the day turned around nicely. We had a great play session, Lollipop has another 5 stickers and no accidents, and I have a friend interested in going swimming with me on a Friday for weight loss purposes! Lol tried to help me do Shred today, she does a pretty good jumping jack, and she is an excellent weight!
