Zoo I like your thread you started HERE It made me [busmile]

liveinazoo · 09/04/2012 16:26

i was bored cats and feeling a bit blue so i thought what do other people do when theyre in the doldrums

starting nosey threads ssems to lift my mood[buwink]

we have done an egg hunt around the house today with dd1 and i making clues/riddles and put in plastic eggs leading to the next egg/clue

were 12 altogether and the booty ended up in empty tumbledrier[bugrin]

the zooles adored it and spent a happy half hour squealing with delight as they ran around hunting for the eggs and working out where the next one was!

i put snack packs mini eggs, carame egg and little net eggs in shiny foil wrappers each as booty

carrotsandcelery · 09/04/2012 16:47

Ah a Brew Just off to read upthread to see what's going on.

carrotsandcelery · 09/04/2012 16:57

Right, I have caught up although not read the "cheer up" thread - will do that in a mo.

We have been on a mammoth expedition. Dd has a friend round so we packed some snacks and took the dogs "up country" and then sort of up a hill. We have discovered Twilight is a water baby as she dived into one of the rivers we passed and then tried to walk up the river [bushock]

When we were totally exhausted we went to a tiny little cafe in the middle of nowhere which makes sandwiches with homemade bread and all local, organic etc etc for lunch.

Then the dcs had an ice cream and we decided to go for another walk down by the big river. Both dogs dived in and were chasing sticks into the river. Twilight is certainly getting fitter and more playful by the day despite her age.

The car STANK on the way home and we have just given Twilight and Pup their first baths since we got them (we have had Pup about 2 years and never had to bath him but he was honking!)

I have since cleaned the bath about 4 times and may still have to do it again.

I have also had to change. Even my pants and bra were wet after washing the dogs.

Now I am cosy in fresh clothes and curled up with a Brew while the girls makes some jewellery and ds mucks about designing miis on the wii.

We have A LOT of washing but I need a rest just now.

carrotsandcelery · 09/04/2012 16:58

Cats I make nests with rice crispies. I used margarine, syrup and drinking chocolate though, not melted chocolate and they set at room temperature. I suspect if you have used melted choc then they will probably have to squeeze in the fridge somewhere.

Ours are all eaten (20 of them) and I didn't have one [busad]

liveinazoo · 09/04/2012 17:09

sounds like a lovely afternoon carrots[busmile]

i still havent got the gumption to sort dinner

soup or something with rice maybe?

carrotsandcelery · 09/04/2012 17:25

It was a great day zoo - I am so much happier if I get out of the house at some point in the day.

Where do dcs get their energy? They are playing Just Dance now. [bushock]

I will also miss these bunnies. They are my fav emoticon and make me feel smiley even when I am struggling.

I have made the bolognaise and discovered we only have penne or macaroni pasta. Penne it is then! I hope dd's guest isn't too easily surprised.

carrotsandcelery · 09/04/2012 17:39

Can I ask a bit of a strange question please? How many pairs of trousers do you have for your dcs? Dd has outgrown a massive part of her wardrobe but still has loads of clothes. The trouble is that what still fits is all the fancy wee summer skirts and going out clothes, not the day to day jeans.

I thought I would just get her to stick leggings on under the skirts and get the wear out of them but there are times when it just doesn't work.

Scout19075 · 09/04/2012 17:49

Toddler has way too many clothes. [bublush] But he wears them hard. We have several pairs of Oshkosh jeans and overalls -- all of which are too big for him at the moment but the size down is now too small so we'll get lots of wear from them.

Scout19075 · 09/04/2012 17:52

Dinner wise we are having left over potatoes (two sorts, apparently), sausages, bacon, left over veg, bread & butter. Not sure if there is to be anything else or not.

We've had an around the house sort of day with MrScout doing a lot of computer & tv system fixing for his father, Toddler doing lots of train playing and music making (on the keyboard) and me just hanging around. I have been thoroughly unproductive this visit. [bublush]

liveinazoo · 09/04/2012 17:56

carrots ds has 3 pairs jeans,1 combats and 2 joggers
dd2 has 2 leggings,2 joggers and 1 jeans
little zoo 1 combats,1 cords and2 leggings

in all honesty its only in the hols dd2 really could do another pair jeans and another joggers.
little zoos on the waiting list for more trousers

liveinazoo · 09/04/2012 18:04

we ended up with baked bean hotchpotch
(baked beans, veg stock, whatever veg are around, often frozen and thyme.served with couscous liberally doused in parsley)

i love 10minute dinners[bugrin]

carrotsandcelery · 09/04/2012 18:09

This is my problem. When they are at school they wear uniform and then stay in it or wear specialised clothing for their activities and the clothes get worn for one activity and at the weekend and we don't need much.

When they are on hols and the weather is poor then I can't keep up as we still go out with the dogs and get mucky.

But if it is lovely weather we have loads of little skirts.

[buconfused]

liveinazoo · 09/04/2012 18:19

we are also mucky pups carrots out in all weathers and the zoolets attract mud like metal to magnets![bugrin]

in the winter jeans are invaluable but then we are approaching end season for them...i went with joggers for dd2 as she does sport activities after/before school to wear them too as well as at home

carrotsandcelery · 09/04/2012 18:39

I have always had far too much for them and I am trying to cut it down. I think I will write a comprehensive list of what she has, including what is in the wash and in the ironing pile and stick it inside her wardrobe door so she can see her outfit options.

I am very tempted to just go with skirts and leggings and buy her one pair of jeans. It is a nightmare getting a fit for her anyway so that will be all that either of us can tolerate I should think.

liveinazoo · 09/04/2012 18:48

sounds like a plan to me carrots

dp had tendancy overbuy for them-he has got better over the years as the girls share and space is very limited so too muchand they have no where to put it

ive often thought what a pity it is that in the summer when it all drys so quickly they wea r so little, yet when its wet and cold and have have heating on to dry it they wear massesConfused

Scout19075 · 09/04/2012 19:47

Toddler's just been given a new pair of trousers, a new rugby, a hoodie and a hand-knitted cardi. Plus there are tee-shirts on order that didn't arrive in time for Easter.

carrotsandcelery · 09/04/2012 19:52

I have thought the same zoo

bessie26 · 09/04/2012 20:25

hahaha, I did think Easter pants sounded like zoo! Grin

DD1 usually lives in jeans but has started sometimes wearing skirts & leggings since it got a bit warmer. I do like to send her to pre-school in jeans whenever possible though, to give her legs some protection from all the knocks and bumps she gets there!

carrotsandcelery · 09/04/2012 20:37

This is the thing bessie. If I do let her do the skirts and leggings thing then a) the skirts will be wrecked very quickly
b) she will probably make holes in the leggings very quickly as she is very "physical"
c) she will never feel dressed up as she will be dressed up all the time

If I don't then
a) I have to spend more money
b) her other clothes won't get very "worn"
c) she will feel dressed up when she wears them

Scout19075 · 09/04/2012 21:02

I could go for a snack. Don't want chocolate. Am surrounded by chocolate (more than I realized). [buhmm]

bessie26 · 09/04/2012 21:25

leggings are cheaper than jeans!

could she separate her skirts into 'everyday' & 'best'?

we have just eaten the easter egg

carrotsandcelery · 09/04/2012 22:05

Good idea bessie - designate specials and every days! Thank you, thank you, thank you! [bugrin]

liveinazoo · 10/04/2012 06:30

morning all!

i am very Sad the bunny smileys are gone

dd2 is up.ishall be waking ds before 7 as he had got into a nasty habit stay in bed and then keeping the others awake when they rose early and are tired so he will have to be "reset" to avoid overtired little zoo meltdowns.
i suspect he will be hardwork as was 9pm before he was asleep but its important to nip this in the bud before they all want to rampage til 9 and not get up til 8 as on a school day thats not a posibility!!!

enjoy your haircut bessie

carrots i hope your trip to the big smoke goes well and ds manages the stimulation at the pool ok

CatsSleepAnywhere · 10/04/2012 07:40

Morning zoo, I'm around today,
DD woke me at 6.30am this morning, I have also had trouble sleeping lately. I have a lot going on in my head lately, it has a lot to do with this
here

Anyway, I am around if you want to chat/"buddy".

The weather sounds quite windy here today.
