What's this I hear about eating Carrots? Eh? Huh? Fess up now please! There will be no Hannibal Lecturing on this thread thank you very much and I have never eaten an alfalfa bean.

Enjoy your tv and junk food everyone and leave carrots alone!

carrotsandcelery · 10/04/2012 20:39

I am totally skint. The swimming pool cost £20! Shock £20 to go swimming! Shock £20 I tell you! I thought they wanted the dcs of the nation to be active?!?!?! The cafe there only sold total crap too it was brilliant! so I was forced to large quantities of sugar. Grin

Then we spent £20 in Pizza Hut as well. Eeeek!

I think my ebaying from now until the summer will have to be set aside as treat days out money. I can't afford 7 weeks of £40 or more a day!

Scout19075 · 10/04/2012 20:45

£20 for two DC?!

carrotsandcelery · 10/04/2012 20:54

£10 something for all 4 of us to swim and £10 for 2 unlimited flume (waterslide) tickets. Ds and I lasted 2 hours and the girls were in for over 3 hours so it is probably better value than the cinema but still. Shock

Scout19075 · 10/04/2012 20:58

Oh, definitely good value!

carrotsandcelery · 10/04/2012 21:04

It probably is good value Scout. It is just a lot of money to shell out in one go! If they hadn't gone on the flumes it would have been fantastic value when I think about it.

Scout19075 · 10/04/2012 21:11

Yes, the £5 per person for the flume does increase it dramatically but I don't see that as too bad, to be honest. Especially if they used the pool and flumes for three hours. That's very good. It would cost just under £5 for Toddler & I to go to the open session at the pool and because he's little we'd stay in for maximum an hour.

He asked to go to the "win-ing ool" today while in the soft play, which is part of the leisure center where swimming is. I told him that next week I'd take him swimming, thinking that I'd take him to open swim, but realized schools go back on Monday (thought they had three weeks not two) and we start our swimming "class" up again. I've just saved myself some money. Grin

carrotsandcelery · 10/04/2012 21:17

There was a tiny baby in the pool today - it honestly looked about 3 months. Ds watched him for ages. I can remember taking ds when he was a baby but he would last about 10 mins and then go blue. We eventually had to buy him a tiny wetsuit as dd was too little to understand why we stayed in for such a short time.

Scout19075 · 10/04/2012 21:25

I took Toddler when he four months old to see how long I needed for changing and to make sure he didn't mind the pool/the noises/the smells before I started baby & parent swimming. He LOVED it and even that first time we ended up there for over half an hour. Toddler and his friend now whinge at having to leave the pool at the end of the class and we bribe them with showers by the pool (which they love). I have a fish Toddler seriously loves the swimming pool.

carrotsandcelery · 10/04/2012 21:30

Dd went as soon as she had had her first 3 rounds of vaccinations and has loved it from the start. She would do another 3 hours plus in the pool tomorrow given half a chance.

Ds went at the same age and was petrified. Absolutley PETRIFIED, and remained petrified every time he went until he was about 5.

He is 7 now and has only just got his 25m badge and moved out of the beginners class at his swimming lessons (after 3 years!)

He does love swimming though. He is just small and not strong or brave.

Scout19075 · 10/04/2012 21:53

Toddler's been doing cannonballs off of the side for the last term. Blush

carrotsandcelery · 10/04/2012 22:35

Magic! Ds specialised in landing on the instructor, no matter how far into the middle of the pool they went when he was coming he would land on them [proud]

liveinazoo · 11/04/2012 07:53

all zoolets akip by just after 8,so it was back to business as usual this morning-ds up 6.10,dd2 6.20,little zoo 6.40 and i feel like there was a gap between bedtime last night anas when i see them in the morning

i dont stay up lateso any time after they are asleep to myself is very precious!

i kept waking in the night thinking about our cat[ridiculously excited emoticon]

in end gave up and got up at 5 and started cleaning

i have to contain them in the kitchen apparently initially so i will have think some cat proofingas i dont fancy coming home to find one buried under a pile of stuff or being ripped from sleep by an almighty crash!!!

we are going to buy bowls, cat litter and food today.the weather here is lovely at the moment but its meant to be very wet later with risk thunderstorms and there is more chance hell freezing over than getting the zoolets outside during one of thoseso we shall have heaad off on our search early

dd2 is off to the cinema this afternoon with big sister as her present from her....she isnt being told about it til just before they go.it is the 1st time she will have gone out alone with dd1 so it will be a lovely experienceof her feeling grown up and important!Grin

CatsSleepAnywhere · 11/04/2012 08:23

Morning all,

carrotsandcelery · 11/04/2012 08:32

Morning all!

We are off to the cinema today as well (dgrandad's treat) to see the Pirates film. I think we are going out for tea as well so fingers crossed it should be a good day.

We need to post some ebay stuff and walk the dogs this morning before we go and do some flying too (I have started already but just done a little bit).

I am excited for you about your cats zoo. I have heard you have to keep them in for quite a long time until they see your house and their home and come back to you once they are out.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 11/04/2012 08:34

Both my DC were still in bed at 8.00am. So I got to enjoy my first coffee of the morning in peace! Smile. I was Shock as I don't think I heard DD all night. I still woke up briefly at around 4.30 but got back to sleep. Grin
DD is awake and downstairs now. DS still asleep. I will have to start waking him earlier when we get to the weekend so he will be back in school waking routine.

I am off to sort some breakfast now.

carrotsandcelery · 11/04/2012 09:01

Right, I am off to do some ironing. I am trying to persuade dd into the shower. I am determined not to have a row about it.

CatsSleepAnywhere · 11/04/2012 09:25

Good luck carrots

We have about 79 posts left on this thread.

I will let someone else volunteer to start the next "chat" thread, unless we just go back to chatting on the lists thread.

carrotsandcelery · 11/04/2012 10:02

We have run out of oil! Again! I only realised because the washing wasn't drying. It will cost a fortune to refill (75p+ per litre and it is over 500 litres) And ds has a hole in another pair of jeans and dd is making a preteen fuss about her clothes despite having more than any of us or possibly all of the rest of us put together.

I can't wait to see my dparents and have some adult company. Grin

CatsSleepAnywhere · 11/04/2012 10:35

Aww carrots, Do you need the oil for any cooking or is it just heating?
I am dreading our electric and gas bills.

We have our MOT the end of this month and road tax. I am a bit too scared to go and check our bank account but I really should! I am trying to stretch out what food we have until we absolutely HAVE to go shopping. Another reason I am putting off shopping though is cause the DC are not in school so I would have to do late evening shopping ( too stressful otherwise).

My DS is always getting holes in his trousers too.

carrotsandcelery · 11/04/2012 11:46

We only need the oil for heating and hot water and we do have an immersion for hot water for just these occasions but it is expensive to run. Luckily it is not too cold so we should be ok. The washing will just take ages to dry and we have loads of dog towels and swimming towels to get through.

We have just had one car's mot and then a car repair a week after that .

Hats off to dd as she has waded through the ironing pile she had. Grin I am quite proud of her. Hopefully she will have got the message but I will continue to get her to do her own. I think it is the only way she will be careful how much laundry she creates and the only way she will be careful with clean, ironed clothes.

liveinazoo · 11/04/2012 13:13

well done to ddcarrots and you too carrots for standing firm ove the ironing pile rather than do it for a quiet life

we went and got some things for the cats.kids starting to get more excited.im just hyper excited now

dd2 has just left for her cinema trip with dd1.her face was priceless when dd1 said put your coat on we are going out...to the cinema, jst you and me!Grin

was lovely to see them leave holding hands and dd2 looking up adoringly at her big sisteri wish id had that relationship with mine

i have to work on the refurbishment of the dolls cot wile she is out as i keep falling asleep when they finally settle at night and im running out of time!

i need to paint it this afternoon and make a duvet and pillow.thatl just leave a nightie to make out of an old vest and either crochet or knit some squares for a little blanket...
i have until tomorrow night to finish this so i can wrap it before i go to bed as she will be up at ridiculous oclock on her birthdayso i wnt get the chance in the morningShock

had best crack on

carrotsandcelery · 11/04/2012 20:06

zoo that sounds a brilliant birthday gift for dd. I love surprises which involve sneaking around and undercover work. Grin

We have been to the cinema and Pizza Hut courtesy of my dmum and ddad. We saw the Pirates film and it was great fun.

My dcs would normally be in bed by now but they have been sitting in a cinema or restaurant for ages today so when they shot out to bounce on the trampoline (in the rain) I thought I would let them bounce some of their excitement off.

Dh isn't home yet and was having a bad day at work from the text I received so may be late.

Thank goodness we have had an easy day and we are all fed.

Summer is also officially here because the ice cream van appeared just as we came home today Grin
