What a weird and wild day.

liveinazoo · 06/04/2012 20:16

care to elaborate scout?

carrotsandcelery · 06/04/2012 20:18

Yes Scout - do you mean the weather or has something exciting been going on?

Scout19075 · 06/04/2012 20:19

Weather's been boring, here. My inlaws, well, the one SiL, is never drama-free.

carrotsandcelery · 06/04/2012 20:21

Aha! Sounds juicy and gossipworthy Scout [bugrin]

liveinazoo · 06/04/2012 20:27

ha ha carrots
those ears making me smile![busmile]

carrotsandcelery · 06/04/2012 20:30

I love them.

Scout19075 · 06/04/2012 20:31

There's a lot of backstory but it's the SiL that has all of my nieces & nephews. And there's just soooo much I wouldn't even know where to start.

carrotsandcelery · 06/04/2012 20:32

Oh dear! Can you hide in the kitchen or upstairs reading TS a story or twenty?

Scout19075 · 06/04/2012 20:36

Oh, they're at their house (3/4 of a block from PiL) and we're with my PiL watching DVDs. Unfortunately recent news is playing on M'siL mind and is always in the background. I think I'm starting to dread Sunday.

liveinazoo · 06/04/2012 20:37

twenty carrots?

carrotsandcelery · 06/04/2012 20:39

Focus on the sweets and TS Scout and try hard to ignore it. (please remind me of this when I rant about my family)

bessie26 · 06/04/2012 20:40

scout you cannot drip-feed us like this! [nosey]

Scout19075 · 06/04/2012 20:42

My family is normal and sane! [bugrin]

carrotsandcelery · 06/04/2012 20:44

Ds gets VERY long stories when I am at dmil. It is just about the only time I get to leave the sofa. I love my sofa but feel differently when sofa time is enforced.

carrotsandcelery · 06/04/2012 20:44

Ha ha! Scout [bugrin] All inlaws are mental from my experience!

bessie26 · 06/04/2012 20:59

the first xmas DD1 was here (when she was 2mo) we spent too long xmas & boxing day at PIL & I was soooooooo grateful that I could bugger off upstairs to feed her every 3hrs - it was the only time I got to hold her!

I should add my ILs are great, they are lovely & the DDs love spending time with them, but we always make sure we are home for the DDs bathtime so we can sit on our own sofa!

Scout19075 · 06/04/2012 21:11

Short story religious zealots, made a lot of very questionable choices, are damaging their children (physically & mentally) and their relationships with each other and the rest of the wider family. The two girls, who are at a convent school abroad, now have measles since they haven't had any of their injections (none, nada, zip, zero). One of the nieces had german measles earlier in term. SiL (who's pregnant, btw) has been taking the children that are still here in the UK to german measles "parties" and had done before telling my PiL (who are in their 70s) so we were all possibly exposed. The girls abroad were due home tomorrow but now they're not coming they're in a foreign country, don't speak the language natively, have temps of 40+ and as of yesterday hadn't seen a doctor (nuns told to give the "medicine" that BiL sent with them). MiL has called and emailed to see how they're doing and my SiL/BiL have yet to respond (they keep the rest of the family at street's length because we're not "good Catholic enough" despite doing loads for their family because they can't/won't).

I have a lot of health issues and don't need any of that cr@p. Also don't think I had the measles booster at 12-14 so am more of a risk until I get it sorted. If they continue this (since some of these things seem to be going around their closed little circle) I won't be able to come down once I start my treatments because the treatments fuck supress my immune system. Every cold/illness takes three times as long to shake and whenever I get ill (even a cold) I have to have a blood test to ensure my system is still working even if it's just working at reduced capacity (I had the flu for the first time every while I was on round one and it took me 4-6 weeks to clear).

There's loads more. But this is the biggest thing.

bessie26 · 06/04/2012 21:13

[jaw drops]

carrotsandcelery · 06/04/2012 21:22

Wow Scout! [stunned]

Scout19075 · 06/04/2012 21:29

When I say biggest I mean most recent (since we've been here).

Niece3's birthday is this weekend. For the second year in a row SiL hasn't sorted out a cake (baked or bought) and I know last year she didn't sort a birthday present out in time. It's not like Niece3 is a baby or toddler -- she's going to be eight! I've told MiL we could make the bunny cake Toddler and I are making a birthday cake for Niece3 so she has something nice to celebrate with.

bessie26 · 06/04/2012 21:32

about to run out of battery on laptop.... scout your priority has to be keeping yourself (and MrScout & TS) healthy. I'm sure your ILs would understand if you felt you had to leave. When does your treatment start?

Scout19075 · 06/04/2012 21:37

Oh, MiL fully understands and has said she will do what she can to protect Toddler & I. However, MrScout's new project started this week and it's 25 miles west of PiL (and we're 90 miles from PiL) so will be staying at PiL a couple of nights a week rather than doing over 100 mile (one way) commute. It's going to get tricky.

No date on start but fully expect to have a start date letter in the post soon.
